We had such an amazing time at The Quinta! Sintra is one of the most beautiful places we visited. The place is so quiet, perfect to relax and to have some adventures with the kids.
Adraga Beach is excelent, as the rest of the beachs around.
We will be back, for sure!
The Quinta is an unique venue, full of vintage and rustic details with a magical and a homy feeling.
Our family had an unforgettable weekend, we visited Sintra which has a lot to discover!
Thank you for all your assistance!
Annually our 4 generations family gathers, and this was the elected place for some of us to stay at beautiful city of Sintra, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
We spent the entire weekend in this "Vintage House", and each generation could appreciate differently, with several features like gardens, an aboveground swimming pool for the teens (not really suited for all ages), a lawn front yard almost the size of one half of a football field, a romantic balcony with a beautiful sea view at sun set, and some other curiosities like the fact that the water from the exterior fountain is actually from the mountain.
The rooms were cozy with very high ceilings, with a mix of old furniture and modern decoration.
With no doubt, Sintra is one of my favorite spots around Lisbon and I strongly recommend this "Vintage House" for events.
My husband and I spent 7 days here at 'La Quinta' and we were stunned by the sheer beauty of, well, EVERYTHING! The gardens, the building, the staff and the views were simply wonderful, and its location so close to the beautiful beaches was a HUGE plus! The surrounding countryside has to be seen and experienced to be believed, but the true star was the home itself. It was lovely inside and out, super-spacious and simply a delight. There are castles to see, plenty of shops and the locals are so sweet. I plan to come back here again, and bring more family with me. We were both thrilled with everything!
Loved the Quinta and the whole environment in the middle of the Sintra hills. Amazing decoration that really makes one feel the Sintra spirit. Highly recommend!
The Quinta is a magical place! The history of the house, the gardens, the view, the surroundings... Everything is amazing.
My family and I spent a lovely time in Sintra and even in Cascais.
I will recommend it to every bride who are looking for a story tale in their lives!
Sintra is a World Heritage Site and a Cultural Landscape (classified by UNESCO).
Sintra has inherited a vast heritage. It is a land of palaces, landscapes, culture, art and many romantics have passed through it.
'A magical place on the edge of Europe', thus defined Sintra the American newspaper Chicago Tribune.
Sintra is a special place, unique, offering the ideal setting and perfect weather all year round for unique holidays.
With an excellent range of beaches, and its vast history and culture, Sintra is the perfect destination for your holidays.
Some attractions you can enjoy at 20 min distance range from the Farm House 'The Quinta'
1-Adraga Beach -
Wild and rugged, intensely blue... simply beautiful!
Well known for its clean water and its vast expanse of sand that is easily accessible, Adraga Beach stands out for the stunning landscape which surrounds it. In 2003, it was considered one of the 20 best European beaches by Sunday Times readers and journalists and was awarded an honorable third place.
2-Bear beach -
A beach of indescribable beauty...
Ursa beach is one of the most beautiful natural treasures in the district of Sintra and is located very close to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in Europe. Its fine sand, the Atlantic Ocean, and the rocky surroundings welcome the visitor to celebrate its unusual natural beauty.
3-Cabo da Roca -
The westernmost point of Europe where land ends and the sea begins, in the words of the poet Luís de Camões. The view from here is truly magnificent, extending from the Roca lighthouse to Adraga beach. The cliffs are 140 metres above sea level.
4-Azenhas do Mar - A viewpoint from which one can see the Sintra coastline. It has a stunning view of the cliffs looming over the full majesty of the Atlantic Ocean, but is flanked by the picturesque scene of the little houses adorned with blue, almost as if sculpted into the rock. In this idyllic setting the sea enters between the cliffs, forming small natural pools
5-Pena Park-Symbol of Sintra, Wonder of Portugal.
In the Pena Palace and its park, the search for all things exotic and the admiration of nature come together.
In the midst of exotic trees and native species you will come across various monuments which together, form an unmissable whole in which the incomparable Pena Palace stands out.
6- Monserrate Park-The remarkable romantic garden of an English millionaire.
Francis Cook, an English millionaire, built the palace and its exuberant gardens, which bear witness to the eclectic spirit of the 1800's.
In the park, which has a strong English influence, the palace merges with one of the richest botanical gardens in Portugal.
Take a stroll among the exotic trees, cascades and lakes and discover a unique park
7- Moorish Castel - Winding around two peaks in the Serra de Sintra (Sintra mountains), the Moorish Castle dates from the very beginning of the Moorish occupation of the Iberian Peninsula, in the 8th century.
8- Palácio da Regaleira (Regaleira Palace) - is the main building and the more common name for Quinta da Regaleira (Regaleira Estate). It is also known as Palácio (palace) do Monteiro dos Milhões, after the nickname (Millions Monteiro) of its former owner, António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro. The palatial villa is situated on the mountainside not far from Sintras historical centre. It has been classified as a Building of Public Interest since 2002.
9 - Sintras gastronomy is varied and rich and will make any 'foodie's' mouth water.
Of the meat dishes, highlights include Negrais suckling pig (leitão de Negrais), Mercês pork (carne de porco às Mercês) and roasted lamb and veal.
The coastline along the region of Sintra boasts an abundance of white fish, seafood and shellfish. So you can enjoy a mouth-watering black bass or sea bream, a delectable octopus or some tasty mussels and barnacles.
As far as sweets are concerned we must inevitably highlight the queijadas de Sintra (Sintra tartlets), an ancient sweet which dates back to, at least, the Middle Ages. But there are others that should be tasted: travesseiros', pastéis da Pena, nozes de Galamares, fofos de Belas in addition to jam produced according to traditional preparation methods.
Colares wine is an indispensable addition to any meal, particularly the famous Ramisco variety which is one of the top wines on the Portuguese wine list.
10 - Sintra has golf courses designed by internationally renowned architects, able to satisfy the most discerning golfer. Penha Longa Golf course is the nearest golf course, 15 min distance and Oitavos Dunes at Cascais 20 min distance.
The Sintra-Cascais Natural Park it has been protected since 1981. It includes the Serra de Sintra Mountain Range but extends all the way to the coast and Cabo da Roca, continental Europe's westernmost point, and Cascais town. Within 25km of Lisbon, it is an extremely popular tourism area in the Lisbon coast.
