We custom built Anahola Home in 2006 to provide an uninterrupted sense of calm, peace and luxury for our family and our friends.
Anahola Home sleeps six (can accommodate eight), but its generous 4,000 square feet of space, expansive yard and an endless beach beckoning with its rhythmic waves, just steps away from the front door, affords an escape from the noisy, crowded, humdrum world you left behind.
Sloping roofs, Hawaiian/Asian architecture, stucco exterior and ocean views from the living area, dining and front lanai, along with delightful gardens and lawns on its ½-acre setting make it unique among rental homes. It includes a master bedroom with king size bed and private bath, Jacuzzi, two guest bedrooms with queen & full size beds, ceiling fans, 3 1/2 baths, media room, tea room, sitting room, home office loft and a central deck.
Hardwood flooring, an incredible fully-equipped, custom gourmet kitchen with Sub Zero refrigerator and Travertine flooring, air conditioning and many more extras complement your paradise experience at Anahola Home.
While not enjoying the scenery and cool ocean breezes of Kauai, Mary is immersed in her art projects and the couple’s daughters, Jorgie, age 10, and Demi, age 5. While back home in Illinois, George practices law and shovels snow. The couple enjoys their three dogs, Alfie (an 80 pound Briard), Lucy (another big Briard), and Willie (a 10 pound mutt who bosses the bigger dogs around). Some of their other activities include, biking, reading, running, traveling with their daughters, and experimenting with new restaurants.
George Hampilos purchased this house in 2006
The inspiration for building this luxurious Hawaiian-style home on the island of Kauai lies with its owners, George and Mary. After traveling throughout various parts of the world, the owners concluded that Kauai offers everything they cherished most: beautiful scenery, excellent food, great weather, and an abundance of outdoor activities. Building a home in Kauai seemed like the right thing to do. And the fact that Mary and George live in the Midwest hardly deterred this visionary couple to build this house thousands of miles away. With Mary’s artistic flair, and George’s thirst for the next big challenge, both were able to build their dream get away.
The owners sought to combine and balance the building and landscaping architecture in the Hawaiian tradition, with the modern simplicity seen in contemporary homes. The couple rounded out the home with the appropriate blend of antique Asian and Hawaiian furnishings, along with state of the art appliances.
This home was wonderful for our family vacation - 6 adults (2 couples and two singles). We had plenty of room to gather together for meals but lots of room to have spread out. The grounds are beautiful and made a lovely spot for family photos. Beach access on Renee's Path was great and we used it often. Appreciated the snorkel equipment, beach towels, cooler, and well stocked kitchen - we had everything we needed. The neighbors were friendly and welcoming sharing hidden treasure we might not have found on our own. Don't miss the autograph tree. We saw past signers stopping by to check on the tree. The owner and the property manager were easy to work. The property manager even shared her coffee to get us through the first morning.
I rented this beautiful home with 7 other co-workers and had the best time! The house is large, beautiful, clean and the property is beautiful. We were able to walk to the private beach and play in the ocean. The owners of this beautiful home are absolutely wonderful to work with! I will definitely be coming back here again.
We spent a week for a small family reunion & it was perfect. The pictures are precise, but in person, the house & property are absolutely stunning. We have 2 small children (1 & 3) & were a bit worried, but the house had a great set up for the kids. There was a play area & tv room, & they loved to explore outside with all the amazing flowers & creatures. We took morning walks to the beach & picked fruit with the kids. The neighbors were all wonderful & showed us different fruits to pick & paths to take to local spots. The location of the home was ideal. It was close enough to everything, & just far enough to feel the real essence of the island. This was our first time staying in Anahola, but definitely not our last. Til we meet again sweet Kauai...thank you again George for letting us stay in your amazing home.
Spent 10 amazing days with my family at this place. This is a beautiful home surrounded by magnificent gardens, a few steps from the beach. Nearby Laguna, reef with tropical fish, and sandy beach for those who prefer to relax. Gorgeous views to the mountains. Location is great, quiet and peaceful. A few miles from Kapaa. Easy drive to all places of interest on Kauai. It was hard for us to leave. Would definitely go again.
Our family recently stayed for a week in the Hampilos' home. It was amazing! There were eight of us (all adults) and there was plenty of room. It is in a perfect location (quiet) and easy to access. The beach access was right across the street.
This was our first time in Kauai, and hopefully not our last. We were definitely spoiled staying in this beautiful home! It was so comfortable, and yet so elegant. There is certainly plenty of room to spread out. We kept choosing different places to sit and relax: in the kitchen, on the front porch, in the living room, in the courtyard, in the TV room, at the dining room table - lots of euchre there! We took many walks on the beach and around the neighborhood enjoying the fabulous views. It's in a great location and close to excellent restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing! We took a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour - what a great way to see the island! Also, went on Capt. Andy's sunset dinner cruise. By car, we visited Waimea Canyon, Wailua Falls, Kilawea Lighthouse, Spouting Horn, Hanalei Beach & pier, and Haena State Park. We really enjoyed the farmers' markets, and loved trying new tropical fruits! Longans, mangosteens, papaya, mountain apples, apple bananas, and sugarloaf pineapple were among our favorites. Our favorite breakfast was macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup at Kountry Kitchen. Our favorite lunch was at Puka Dogs. Our favorite happy hour was at Brenneckes. Our favorite dinners were at Duke's (upstairs) and The Dolphin. I really can't think of a better place to stay and enjoy Kauai! Thank you and mahalo for your hospitality.
