2019 Family Reunion
What a wonderful place for a family or group of friends to spread out and enjoy this beautiful property on Lake Wassookeag! Couldn't have found a better place to enjoy the sunny days, beautiful water, amazing sunsets, bald eagle sightings and the sounds of loons in the evenings. The houses are all well appointed we enjoyed gathering at the Maine house for all our meals, hanging out in the shade or playing in the sun and lounging in the hammock! Our own little paradise. Three Sisters, thank you for sharing your very special spot!!
Beautiful location and homes on this property. We had a wonderful time on the lake ( rental of a pontoon boat was key!) We brought 3 kayaks and 2 SUP boards. Lots of fun playing Pickle Ball too.
Suggestions for a 5 star rating: attention to the main house plumbing in down stair bathrooms and new dishwasher.
Also, more Queen size beds for couples though that might not work due to the bunks...
I wish we could’ve recycled all the trash we created ( plastic) but maybe Dexter doesn’t have recycling??
Overall it was a wonderful week at the 3 Sisters! Thank you!
Good suggestions I agree the dishwasher in the Maine House is getting old. We will have a replacement dishwasher scheduled for next season. We will also check in on the city recycling and add the procedure to the notes. I am glad you had a good time.
We loved it!! Gorgeous lake and Maine house. Fabulous sun set. We had some problems (broken toilet and oven that went out) that we’re quickly addressed. We hope the owners will take care of some areas that need updating
that will make it possible for many more families to have a fantastic experience in the future.
Perfect spot for multi-generation family gathering
We could not have had a more perfect week at Three Sisters. The property is very well maintained, both inside and outside. We were four related families for a total of 20 people- ranging in ages from 2 to 75, and everyone loved it. The Maine House is spacious with an open plan- we spent most of our time there and on the wonderful deck facing the lake. The furnishings are tasteful, and the houses all have a relaxed and comfortable feel- not too "precious". The setting is very private, with a huge lawn that was great for frisbee and tossing a football.
The lake is crystal clear and perfect for swimming. The kids enjoyed swimming to the dock, and the kayaks and rowboat. We rented a pontoon boat and brought SUPs, which added to our enjoyment of the lake.
The kitchens in all of the houses were very well stocked with everything we needed to cook for 20. We appreciated the laundry soap, dishwasher soap and the well stocked spice cabinet. For grocery shopping, Hannafords is only 5 minutes away. One night we ordered cooked lobsters from Hannafords. We had originally planned to spend a few nights eating in restaurants, but it was so pleasant at the compound, and so easy to prepare and eat big meals together, we ate in every night and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and evenings on the lake. The Lake House has a nice firepit and the kids enjoyed making s'mores after dinner. There were no mosquitos!
The Court House was perfect for the young family with the 2, 6 and 8 year olds. The house is set back from the other 2 houses- so there was no risk of the kids running out to the lake. The Court House is also on one level, so the parents appreciated not chasing the 2 year old up and down the stairs!
Ron was a pleasure to deal with, and always responded immediately.
The only improvement I can suggest is that one of the bedrooms in the Maine house has a full-size bed and a queen would be more comfortable. However, the master bedroom in the Maine house has a queen bed and is a beautiful and private room with ensuite bath.
We look forward to our next visit. Thank you.
Beautiful Vacation Spot
We had 24 people in our group and we couldn't have picked a more perfect location. The houses were well maintained and clean. The Maine house was very spacious. Even when we all ate together, there will still lots of space. The Court and Lake Houses were perfect and very quaint. The lake was beautiful and clean. We used the paddle boat and the kayaks and every one of us would go back there in a second. A wonderful week!!!
This property is large and has plenty of room. The grounds are perfect for a large group. There is so much water frontage and the location is ideal. Close to stores but you still feel secluded.
Lake Wassookeag is a beautiful spring fed body of water with all water sports activities, swimming, fishing, boating, windsurfing, water skiing, sailing, and 2 public boat launches.
Dexter offers a 9 hole golf course and there are others in the area.
A canoe and 2 kayaks are available for your use.
The area also offers canoeing/kayaking, whitewater rafting, cross-country skiing, hiking trails, biking trails, hunting, bird watching(loons, bald eagles, cormorants, ducks, etc.), moose watching. For the Winter snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, this home is located in the heart of Maine's snowmobile and ATV country with easy access to groomed trails including ITS 84 which gives you access to virtually the entire state. Downhill skiing is available within 30 miles.
White water Rafting trips on the West Branch of the Penobscot, Dead, and Kennebec Rivers are all in close proximity.
Ocean shore locations are within 40 miles; Bar Harbor is approx. 70 miles.
