This property is a gorgeous custom-built, 3-bedroom log home that was completed in 2011, and is located on a very quiet road. It can accommodate up to six people with room for two extra persons on a pull-out bed in the living room. There are three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The house has a beautifully appointed, fully-equipped kitchen. There are two bedrooms (queen bed in one, and two twin beds in the other bedroom) on the second floor. The third double-bedded bedroom is located on the main floor. The bathroom on the main floor has a walk-in shower, and the bathroom on the second floor has a bath with a shower. There is a screened-in porch for eating breakfast and a picnic table for eating in the garden. At night, the guests can light the fire in the firepit, and have a campfire. Horseshoe Pond is located a short distance up the road, and is a nice destination for a short walk from the house. There is lots of parking on the property. The house has a flatscreen TV and internet service, as well as a telephone landline.
We had this house built so we could eventually retire to Schroon Lake. We wanted to make it an energy-efficient house, so we had solar panels installed. We absolutely love the area, and love the house for its location, with its peacefulness and privacy. However, we still wanted to be near town, so this was the ideal location, being only a seven minute drive from Schroon Lake. We love to run into town for a swim in the summer months. It's great to walk up to Horseshoe Pond in the late afternoons and on occasions we have brought our kayaks up to the lake and paddled around in the solitude.
Gerardine Cox purchased this house in 2011
We had this property for many years before deciding to build our home there. We would visit the Adirondacks every summer to camp in Paradox Lake or Long Lake, or stay in local motels if the weather didn't cooperate, so we decided that since we loved the area so much, why not build our own place! And were we glad we did! The tranquility we feel when we arrive is terrific, and it doesn't take long to fall into that relaxed mode once we put the key in the door!
If you are someone looking for a peaceful retreat, maybe to write, or to play an instrument, and want to be away from the hustle and bustle of larger resort locations, but like to be near local amenities, then this is the place for you. The house is extremely comfortable, and there is lots of outdoor space to play games, relax in an adirondack chair with a good book, and light the campfire at night.
My 24-year old son and I stayed in this wonderfully peaceful retreat for 5 nights in July. Restful, restorative, yet invigorating!
As with the vast majority of properties in the area, the owners rent only Saturday to Saturday in July. My days off were Monday through Sunday, but this lovely home offered everything I was looking for, so I made it work. I am so glad I did! This place was perfect for us!!!
The house is so well furnished for the perfect stay.
Me: the downstairs double bed and bath. My son: the upstairs queen bed and bath. Sweet!
The kitchen: fully stocked; dishwasher, too; and a very handy electric teapot!
Washing machine in the basement; clotheslines inside and out for drying. Useful!
We rarely turned on the TV, but it was nice on occasion. Full complement of satellite/cable channels; great picture and sound; many DVD's.
We thoroughly enjoyed the screened-in back porch. Two Adirondack chairs and a small patio table with 4 chairs. Read out there each morning and evening. Meals out there, too! (The back porch light wasn't quite enough to read by at night, and it seemed to turn off on its own after the bulb heated up, but we had no problem with our light-up reading devices!)
Excellent wifi service! Our electronic devices worked perfectly and quickly in and around this home, including on the porch.
Cooked "at home" for the most part, but ate out once at Witherbee's for Tuesday's lobster special (great lobster), and did take out twice from DeCesare's (de-lish! -- Mountaineer pizza first; Chicken Parm next; plenty to split).
We ran and walked each morning along the quiet country roads. Encountered just one car in 6 mornings.
Lots of books, including local interests! Trail guides, maps, wildlife. Useful! Relied on them for awesome hiking trails.
Quick trip to town and the lake! Convenient!
Higher Grounds coffee in town each morning. So friendly. Relaxing. Great coffee.
Seagle Colony opera twice. Spectacular! And right around the corner, too.
Took a day trip to Mirror Lake and John Brown Farm State Historic Sight. Fun!
Cool nights. Some hot days. But the cabin stayed comfy! Opened the windows at night to take in the wonderfully chilly air. Closed them (and the drapes) in the mornings to keep the cool air in. Ran the ceiling fans religiously. Perfect!
Deirdre (realtor) was so helpful, efficient, and accommodating! Great info at our fingertips.
We highly recommend this home! Wonderful stay!
What a perfect getaway house! So well-designed and decorated and not fussy. Agree with a previous reviewer - the photos don't do this place justice. Comfortable and peaceful and the property is beautiful. The location is great, a close drive to the town and a nice walk to the beautiful Horseshoe Pond. We took day trips to the Wild Center, the Adirondack Museum, and climbed Cook Mountain, and walked around Crane Pond. The lake is fantastic, clean and clear. We've stayed in a lot of places, this is one of my favorites. I like a place that feels like a good 'home base' for day trips OR you could just get there, park yourself and not move for the whole week. This place feels like that. I'd like to go there again.
As a lover of the Adirondack Mountain region, this house in Schroon Lake was the perfect spot. The house is beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice, and the property secluded and quiet. You would think you were miles away from the main road, but the town of Schroon Lake is either a 4 minute drive or a long, easy walk away. The lake itself is one of the most picturesque we've seen, the town and beach area are immaculate and welcoming. Horseshoe pond is just a short hike from the house, and there are so many other pleasant hikes in the area, along with plenty of other attractions and activities. There were so many places we didn't have time to explore and look forward to many more visits in the future!
I have been meaning to comment on your wonderful place in Schroon Lake and to let you know what a great time we had. It had everything for a winter break. And it was my first time to go for a walk on an iced lake! We also got to talk to some amusing fishermen! We were a little away from the town, but that suited us. There were lovely walks within a short distance of the house. And what a cosy house! It was warm and spacious. Schroon Lake is a great town. We hit upon a benefit to assist the local cinema to go digital, where we saw old movies from the town from another era. I would love to return in the summertime - maybe 2015? We are definitely thinking about that.
This is a great house in a great location. Close to town but not in town, so it is very private and peaceful. Our family stayed here and had a great time exploring and hiking around in the woods. It is a short walk to Horseshoe pond where we went kayaking and fishing.
We also loved the town of Schroon Lake, plenty to do and great restaurants without the crowds you see in other ADK towns. A nice place to visit any time of the year. The house is very well designed and totally up to date. Nice and cool in the summer time with all those windows. I also love the fact that the owners have installed solar for hot water and radiant heating. Top-notch! The pictures do not do it justice, this is a real, modern log home with great style. The grounds are nicer than the pictures, the yard has filled in and there are tons of raspberry and blueberry bushes.
I'm a runner and would love to rent this place for the Adirondack Marathon in the fall. It's a great race and Schroon Lake puts on a great weekend.
Lovely place to settle in for a week. A new build with beautiful kitchen and baths. My family and I had a wonderful Adirondack Adventure -- thanks!
House is located three miles from the gorgeous town of Schroon Lake where the visitor will find everything needed to make their stay in the area most enjoyable. Schroon Lake has a great beach for swimming with magnificent views, ice cream shops, restaurants, bars, groceries and coffee shops, as well as hiking trails all around the area. The town has a boat launch as well as a marina where canoes and kayaks can be rented on an hourly and daily basis. The house is located on a very quiet road with trails off the property, where the visitor can really enjoy the peace and quiet of the Adirondacks, and decompress from life's usually frantic pace. This is a wonderful spot to unwind, but also accessable to lots of hiking, boating and fishing in the nearby lakes.

This home is a lovely private getaway, and you'll love the comfort and the space it provides. And for those who enjoy a swim, it's only a 7 minute car ride away to the town beach, where you will find a gorgeous family-friendly beach. If you enjoy walking in the woods, the road outside the property provides a lovely quiet walk to a remote lake where you can fish or sit and enjoy the scenery.
