About Rod and June MCTAGGART

June and I cannot spend as much time in our piece of paradise as we would like so it is available to rent. We are Scottish and speak English and German.

Rod and June MCTAGGART purchased this villa in 2004

Why Rod and June MCTAGGART chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

We are hobby pilots and have flown in many parts of the world including most of the USA. When we first visited Venice we fell in love with it and decided to buy a place there.

What makes this villa unique

Venice offers the perfect compromise with fabulous beaches and the relaxed living style of the Gulf Coast while still being in easy reach of the entertainment in Orlando and Tampa and everything they have to offer. Unlike some areas on the Gulf Coast there is easy access to all of your shopping needs but the house is located in its own little piece of paradise as the pictures show!

Waterfront Villa with Heated Pool, Private Dock HDTV WiFi
average rating of 5.0 based on 9 reviews

The villa is set in a quiet neighbourhood and has one of the most picturesque back gardens in Florida. The villa is well equipped and well presented. We used the bikes to cylce the legacy trail and also used the golf clubs for a round at Calusa Lakes golf club. The large pool was also well used to cool us down after a day out.

The area itself has many restaurants and eating places. We particularly like the Crow's nest down in Venice.

Venice itself is a quiet town but you can amble around downtown at night. The gelato shop has really good ice cream!

Sarasota and St Armands Circle are only half an hour away. The Ringling Museum in Sarasota and the Edison h

House at Fort Myers are worth a visit. We also went to Myaka State Park where we went looking for 'Gators on the "worlds largest airboat" We also hired bikes and did a bit of cycling.

Relaxing holiday in the sun.

  • 5 of 5

Accommodation was excellent in a quiet neighbourhood .I enjoyed cooking on the BBQ by the pool as well as dining out at the many local restaurants. The pool was secluded allowing for a relaxing morning swim before breakfast as well as an evening dip. Venice is a pleasant town within cycling distance with a great ice cream parlour and interesting shopping. The beach is nearby and lots to do in the surrounding area. Great holiday .

Great relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

An amazingly well maintained and equipped property with good, clear instructions for all equipment. Clean, spacious and a fabulous pool area with dining table and BBQ where we ate most breakfasts and evening meals. A great place to watch the passing wildlife from. The birds and raccoons are amazing.

Lots of cycle tracks about to use the bikes provided and you can cycle to the beach, which is too far to walk to. A huge stretch of sandy beach. We saw turtles, dolphins, manatee and lots of pelicans.

Venice is a lovely little town with a great Ice cream shop, and several nice restaurants and cafes.

The Salvador Dali Art Gallery in St Petersburg is worth a visit. A beautiful building and it's worth paying for the audio guide to understand the pictures better.

We hope to be back soon!

A Place to Return to Again and Again

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything! It is spacious, comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood, and very close to the beach. The back yard is beautiful, and leads down to a fishing dock where the men spent every waking minute when we weren't out sight-seeing or at the beach. Downtown Venice is a great place to stroll, shop, take it easy, and has a very popular bakery! St. Petersburg is not that far away, and if you think you don't like Salvador Dali's work, visit the Art museum. You will be amazed. Much to see and do, or just stay by the pool. We are returning again.

Fabulous holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much of letting us use your wonderful home - we had such a great holiday and the bikes, fishing rods and beach gear were all well used and were fab! We did a 1 day kayaking session down at Stump Pass which was beautiful, a day trip to Myaka, day trip to St Petersburg to see the new Dali museum on the waterfront (fab building and great art collection) and numerous jaunts in and around Venice to various beaches. Casey Key Fish House was a favourite restaurant and the margarita on the beach (with the drums) was memorable!

You are very lucky to have such a great holiday home in a very pretty setting. All in all we had a fantastic time - thank you once again.
