We live in Northern Virginia and enjoy getting away from the hectic pace to a cozy, relaxing retreat at Bryce Resort on weekends.
Kristan Marshall purchased this chalet in 2013
We fell in love with this beautiful, well kept home, and are excited to share it with others that share our love of a quiet retreat, with lots of local fun.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable and the owner was quick to respond to our text messages. We were 5 minutes away from Bryce ski resort ( which has a family atmosphere) and about 25 minutes away from a Walmart. All in all my family had a great time and we will probably stay again in the future.
We stayed in this house for the July 4th long weekend. We were a family of 6 adults and kids. Apart from a few minor issues, our experience was good and pleasant. I will definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for a quiet house and clean house. I am not sure if not having WIFI is a plus or a minus. Cell phone connectivity is good.. so, as long as you have data, you should be fine.
Kristan (owner) is very responsive and easy to work with. We booked the house just 1 day before our checkin date but we still were able to make it.
The house was clean and well maintained.
The house is probably one or two by lanes from the main local road. So, its very quiet and away from the hustle and bustle.
All basic amenities like toilet paper, dish soap etc were provided and has all other dishes you need. They were clean too.
Our security deposits and other refunds were promptly paid back.
Cons (to us, but not necessarily a problem with the house itself):
There were no blinds on any of the doors or windows in the living area. That interfered with privacy a bit in the evenings when all of us were home & dark outside.
Main door is a sliding glass door. Its not a regular opaque wooden door. I am not sure if it was designed like this for a reason. We would have preferred a regular wooden door.
When we checked in, it felt a bit stuffed up 'cus it may not have been recently used but it was nice and pleasant after we opened the doors & windows to let air in.
There is no grill.
We spent a long weekend in this home to celebrate New Year's and it was really very nice. The house is extremely comfortable, clean and well-maintained. The owner was very responsive and accommodating throughout the booking process and you can tell that they have pride in the up-keep and quality maintenance of their home. We were two families with school-aged children and the house offered many games (air hockey, mini-billiards, foosball, Wii, board games, etc) so the kids were well entertained. The kitchen is very clean and updated - we are a family that really enjoys cooking and I felt very comfortable cooking a few big holiday meals in this kitchen. (If you are cooking for more than 4 people, however, you probably need to bring larger pots for big meals and any specialty cooking utensils and tools). We were bummed that the fireplace was out of order and that we were not able to use it, but besides that, we had a great weekend -- despite there being no snow on the mountain!
Great house! Exactly what we were looking for. Owner was easy to work with. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends
Kristan is very accommodating, and the property is very clean. Thank you for the cable! The home offers many games and movies for use. New Year's Eve was a lot of fun and the resort even had fireworks at 11:45 pm until midnight. What a show! We had a great time!
My husband and I rented this property with our daughter and son-in-law. We thoroughly enjoy all the accommodations. House is adorable and we enjoyed using the porch. Nice touches and very clean. Property owner was wonderful to work with and very accommodating.
In addition to all that Bryce Resort has to offer, there are a variety of things throughout the local area for entertainment, such as Shenandoah and Luray Caverns, Route 11 Potato Chips, local shops and orchards, several Civil War battlefields and museums, a variety of local wineries, Massanutten Water Park, and more.
