About the property

BEAUTIFUL & PRIVATE POINT OF LAND WITH UNBELIEVABLE WATER VIEWS WHEREVER YOU ARE

There is “no place like home”, and no place like this “home plus a one bedroom apartment above the garage. Apartment is fully furnished along with a kitchen and brand new bathroom with walk in shower.

With about a 360 degree water view…two private pocket beaches…inviting pier… wrap around deck…spacious interior… fully equipped kitchen…are all the ingredients for an amazing family memory. Water sports are easy here! Bring you boards, kayaks, fishing pools and a boat if you like!

Kids never get tired of the beach and the water. Our grandkids spend hours digging in the sand and find all sorts of treasures. The hardest part for them is deciding "which ones" to take home in a jar of sand.

Our home is perfect for your family vacation. It is and has been a memory maker for our family for many years. There's a special feeling of "home" as you walk in. Immediately you are captivated by the expansive view of the Patuxent River. Step out on the deck; the view to your left is entrance to the Chesapeake Bay, straight across Patuxent Naval Air Station, then to the right Thomas Johnson Bridge to St. Mary's county. In fact, there’s a view from every window! Mornings are beautiful with an always new sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay. To top off a perfect day pull your chair up for another spectacular sunset! You have a front row seat for both events.

Two beaches for enjoying the sun or taking a dip. You’ll find children spend the day searching for treasures, building sand castles or swimming! The large pier can accommodate many folks for fishing or crabbing and moorage for small boat, with shallow draft. Take a seat on the bench and wait for that fish to bite! Reel him in and clean him in the pier sink!

Our guests rave about our amenities, including appliances, spices, linens, towels, games, toys and the list goes on. Choose to prepare meals at home? You will be pleased with a very well equipped and plenty of room for helpers too! A gas grill sits in the corner garden area. A cool spot in the evening and very peaceful.

Take a stroll down the boardwalk, check out quaint shops, kids playground , gazebo, and public restrooms. Great restaurants for dining in or out, ice cream shops (2), charter boat fishing, boat and kayak rentals. New to THE PIER is a wine tasting room. One of our favorites is THE HIDEAWAY. Also, KIM'S KEY LIME PIE. See the welcome book for more info on restaurants in the area. Most restaurants have seating inside and out on the water. Be sure and make a reservation...busy in the summer. Fortunately, you have a lot to choose from.

The Calvert Marine Museum offers interactive play for kids. The exhibits are informative and historical. Don’t miss the otters! You can go through the Drum Point Lighthouse and take a daily cruise on the Tennison up the Patuxent River. The Oyster Museum is on island…oysters were and still harvested on the River. About 2 miles to Dowell Road you will find Anne Marie Gardens on St. John’s River. Beautiful sculptures along wooded trails, many things to do and see, don’t miss this.

There are many opportunities for “day trips”. Washington DC and Annapolis are within an hour. Please stop by the Solomon’s Island Tourist information center just as you come down the island. You’ll find a plethora of materials for all Southern Maryland and surrounding areas.

If you would like a relaxing, laid back and peaceful vacation, this is the place. Most folks “just hang out” at the house and enjoy the activity and scenes on the water. Seems there is always something new to see in this beautiful and private setting.

For information about many things in Southern Maryland as well as Solomons, take a moment and look through our collection of fun things to do and see.

About Lynda Adams

The Navy brought us to Southern Maryland, a long way from my hometown of Whidbey Island in Washington State. As a professional Realtor for 25 years, I was able to experience all of Southern Maryland. Although extremely different than my native land, I found its charm, personality & beauty an easy adjustment. Now, it is fun to have roots on each coast and I call them both home. I have 3 grown children and 10 grandchildren - some east and some west.

Lynda Adams purchased this house in 1985

Why Lynda Adams chose Solomons

I came across the Thomas Johnson Bridge in 1979 and spotted Solomons Island. I was in awe of the view scene and declared, 'I am going to live there someday' and I do. Calvert County is very special. Friendly and beautiful with many things to do and see.

What makes this house unique

The first time I walked through the front door of this home (and every time after), all I saw was WATER in every direction. From the deck I could see the Bay and the Naval Air Station across the River, also the Thomas Johnson Bridge. Lights on the shoreline made me feel a part of somewhere special. I knew that this was the home for me.

What makes this little bit of heaven so special is its feeling of serenity and peace, unrivaled by any place I have ever been. I never tire of the beautiful ever changing scenery.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for opening up your home to us. We felt welcomed the minute we walked in...the beautiful flowers, scenery and little touches you added really were so thoughtful. Your home provided a perfect backdrop for another family reunion. Without question, the best views on the island. We felt like we were on a cruise :)

This week, we enjoyed fishing, crabbing, playing in the sand, and boating. We rented a tandem kayak at Pax Sports and paddled it back to your place. Indoors my kids enjoyed hours of playing Biblopoly and Pictionary. We all enjoyed the great books in your library.

Thank you for blessing us with a wonderful week of relaxation and family time.

We hope to return soon!

Special place

  • 5 of 5

Just the best. Our group of 9 (7 adults (3 couples) + 2 small children) fit very well in this wonderfully unique property. The house sits where two major waterways converge, so not only are the views stunning, but it's also the only house with that view. Watching the birds of prey go after their fish meals on the large sun deck while the kids played in the water was a great way to spend afternoons. The sand shelf leading out from the shoreline is extremely shallow for at least 150 yards, so swimming, even with little ones, is a breeze. The layout of the house, with its central area that leads out to the deck, is ideal for a group that likes to be together, but also needs their own spaces to retire to for naps, down time, reading, etc. All the restaurants/activity in Solomons are within an easy 5 minute walk, yet just far enough that the house feels "out on its own." Can't recommend this place enough and hope we have the opportunity to return in the future!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we walked in to the house, all we could say was OH.MY.GOSH. Seriously, that's all we were saying. The house appears to be sitting in the water from the family room! The true definition of a million dollar view! The house itself is fabulous and every comfort of home is at your fingertips. At low tide it's possible to walk at least fifty yards or more out into the water from the left side beach and the depth remains at about 3.5 feet. Restaurants, boat rentals and a few cute shops are all within walking distance. We hope to make it back next year!

Excellent Trip

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at this home. Fantastic panoramic views of the bay and river; sunrise and sunset. Excellent layout for group activities, but roomy enough to find quiet if you want. Kitchen has everything you need to prepare full meals, with lots of spices too. Close enough to main street to walk. I would not classify all 7 bedrooms as such for the privacy you normally expect (I would say 5), but you can easily sleep 14 comfortably. Don't come for the TV; not many channels. But, I think I only saw it turned on once all week...sweet. Getting to the pocket beach requires a little maneuverability (stepping down/up the stones), but we managed quite well. Good fishing from the pier (you do not need a license if you are staying at the property) and you can get bait and tackle in town. If you are bringing a boat, consider berthing it in the marina. There is a lot of wave action (weather and boats) on the point. Grocery stores 10 minutes away. Saturday's Choice in Lexington Park and Capt. Smith's both have great seafood choices (crabs were heavy). Lots of stuff to do in the area, but we pretty much stuck to water activities this trip. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for everything Lynda.

P.S. You really should try "Kim's Keylime Pie" while on the Island.

Owner's Response: Your comments are so useful. Yes, the layout of the house is wide open with many places to get a bit of privacy. I find it so much better if I have a chance to explain the layout in person. But yes it is just a fun place to live for a week.. You are so right....Kim’s Key Pie, is great and delicious! Breakfast, lunch or snack! Live music too!
