Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Solomons - SANDY POINT HAVEN

4 bedrooms, 2-1/2, with large open space and dynamic water views from every room

This home is perfect for your family vacation. It is and has been a memory maker for our family for many years. There's a special feeling of "home" as you walk in. The wide open views through all the glass captures you and draws you to the water. Step out on the deck from any room and take it in. The view to your left is the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay, straight across the Patuxent Naval Air Station, to your right is the Thomas Johnson Bridge that takes you to St. Mary's county. You are surrounded by the Patuxent River. One of the really unique conditions on the property is two micro-climates. The positioning of the house and the wrap around decking offer a "warmer" and a "cooler" temperature depending on the time of day. Enjoy the sunrise view AND the sunset over the bridge! Two pocket beaches for enjoying the sun or taking a dip. Large pier can accommodate a few people for fishing or crabbing. There's a sink for cleaning fish and seating while you are waiting for that big fish! Relaxing is easy in this beautiful and private setting. The town is full of neat places to visit, great restaurants, ice cream shops, charter boat fishing, boat and kayak rentals. Home is fully equipped for your stay. Spices, appliances, linens, towels etc....and the list goes on.

About Lynda Adams

The Navy brought us to Southern Maryland, a long way from my hometown of Whidbey Island in Washington State. As a professional Realtor for 25 years, I was able to experience all of Southern Maryland. Although extremely different than my native land, I found its charm, personality & beauty an easy adjustment. Now, it is fun to have roots on each coast and I call them both home. I have 3 grown children and 10 grandchildren - some east and some west.

Lynda Adams purchased this house in 1985

Why Lynda Adams chose Chesapeake Bay

I came across the Thomas Johnson Bridge in 1979 and spotted Solomons Island. I was in awe of the view scene and declared, 'I am going to live there someday' and I do. Calvert County is very special. Friendly and beautiful with many things to do and see.

What makes this house unique

The first time I walked through the front door of this home (and every time after), all I saw was WATER in every direction. From the deck I could see the Bay and the Naval Air Station across the River, also the Thomas Johnson Bridge. Lights on the shoreline made me feel a part of somewhere special. I knew that this was the home for me.

What makes this little bit of heaven so special is its feeling of serenity and peace, unrivaled by any place I have ever been. I never tire of the beautiful ever changing scenery.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for opening up your home to us. We felt welcomed the minute we walked in...the beautiful flowers, scenery and little touches you added really were so thoughtful. Your home provided a perfect backdrop for another family reunion. Without question, the best views on the island. We felt like we were on a cruise :)

This week, we enjoyed fishing, crabbing, playing in the sand, and boating. We rented a tandem kayak at Pax Sports and paddled it back to your place. Indoors my kids enjoyed hours of playing Biblopoly and Pictionary. We all enjoyed the great books in your library.

Thank you for blessing us with a wonderful week of relaxation and family time.

We hope to return soon!

We were there for a batchelorette party weekend. It couldn't have been better. This house is so well appointed. We enjoyed morning sunrises and afternoon sunsets on the expansive decks. We brought kayak and paddled around the point. We walked into the quaint town for shopping and lunch. The famous key lime pie at Lotus Cafe did not disappoint. We enjoyed the decks so much we ordered dinner in. Also, the owner Lynda is so gracious.

We will definitely be looking into renting this amazing home again.

I give it a 10+!

Owner's Response: Sometimes as parents and grandparents I think we have to entertain our little ones; but as Mike said in this review the kids didn't want to leave. I think the bottom line is when you've got water and the beach there's not much more kids need and we've got it! Add some crabbing and fishing and maybe a boat and there's not a better vacation

PERFECT!!! Absolutely Best Location and House on Solomon's Island!!! We didn't want to leave!!!

July 31 - August 7, 2016 - THIS HOUSE IS AMAZING!!!! The water views are incredible and the sunsets are breathtaking! The water surrounds this house! Several families (adults and kids ranging in age from 6-16) really enjoyed this house and all its many, many amenities. We all enjoyed sitting on the deck and just listening to the water and watching the boats go by. The kids loved the pocket beaches and all of the amazing things they found from shells to baby horse shoe crabs to minnows swimming by and the visits by the duck families. We crabbed and fished right off the pier, kayaked from the pocket beaches, swam, rented a boat and wave runner(in town) and just relaxed in the water. We even caught enough crabs to have a crab boil dinner for 13 one night. Lynda has equipped the kitchen with everything you will ever need to cook with - she was even so thoughtful to put coffee out for our first pot of coffee in the morning (what a nice touch!). Everything you can imagine is in this house, the view, the comfortable beds, linens, towels, laundry detergent just to name a few. The house is beautifully decorated and immaculate too! Lynda was wonderful through all the communications with her before and during our trip- she is so nice!!! A bunch of us would get up every morning to hear the National Anthem being played across the water at the Patuxent Naval Base while drinking our morning coffee on the spacious decks. And we all enjoyed watching and hearing the fighter jets, helicopters and divers doing maneuvers from the naval base. Wow - it was pretty awesome! There are several side trips we got to take too - The Calvert Marine Museum with Lighthouse tour and a boat ride were enjoyed by us all. (the boat ride goes right past the house). The Patuxent Naval Air Museum was neat too - you got to be up and close to real fighter planes. We went to Calvert Cliffs with a beautiful hike through the woods to get to the Cliffs and fossil hunting (1.8 miles each way but it was worth it). I even found a large fossilized shark tooth there. Solomon's has plenty of good restaurants, some shops and even a Tiki bar all within walking distance! This is by far one of the best vacations that we have taken in a while and we highly recommend this wonderful vacation rental!

Owner's Response: Yes, there is nothing like the excitement of pulling up the crab pots to see you have an abundant harvest! The ultimate pleasure is sitting at the big picnic table in the cool of the late afternoon, with folks you love and enjoy picking and savoring your catch! Sandy Point Haven offers many, many options for your vacation. But most of all, a peaceful, restful and beautiful spot for your vacation. You won't be disappointed. Booking now for 2017 season!

July 17-31, 2016 - We knew what we were walking into because of all of the reviews BUT was surprised to find so much more. Lynda, your home is lovely and beautifully decorated with all the amenities of a five star resort. So many personal touches, your beautiful family photos and your watercolors. The water views were spectacular ~ sunrises ~ sunsets ~ the jets taking off ~ the helicopter training maneuvers, kayakers, sailboat training and the ducks. Our little ones so enjoyed fishing off the pier and catching a variety of fish. The deck breezes were felt all throughout the day. So relaxing. Very spacious house. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, elegant dishes, felt like we were eating out at restaurants. Thank you for opening your home and allowing our family to make precious memories we will cherish forever.

Owner's Response: Yes, a vacation here is a "memory maker"! This is a statement we hear so often, and are extremely happy to be able to share with guests. There is much to do and see in the area, but as you found out...no need to travel anywhere else! It is indeed a special location and place to relax and enjoy!

Like Living on a Houseboat

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week-long stay at Lynda's home on Solomon's Island! As soon as we walked into the house, there was a collective "OMG, it's so beautiful here. " We hung out on the private pocket beach for hours every day, it was really hot during our week, and we had a small boat with us which kept everyone entertained and well fed. My brother-in-law and niece and nephew went fishing everyday and caught croakers which were delicious. We really enjoyed the fact that Solomon's Island is not really touristy which is just our style. We all took a day trip to Annapolis and took the trolley tour which worked our perfectly. Had a true Maryland crab experience at Captain Smith's Seafood Market. Lynda was responsive to my questions and very pleasant.

Dynamic property!

  • 4 of 5

An absolutely delightful property, with great views and location.

My family and guests were very impressed with the lay-out and flow between the kitchen, living area and decks.

The private beaches were a delight for my infant children, particularly with the good weather!

The only negative for us was the issue of limited parking. This caused many of our guests to meet at a local restaurant rather than come to the house, which was very disappointing.

However I highly recommend the house, and I look forward to renting it again in the future.

Thank you,

Owner's Response: We are happy the weather suited "beach time" for the young ones! Yes, the open floorplan of our home is great for family gatherings, but still offers various conversation and activity areas. We are working on the limited parking situation...hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Lynda Adams
