HaleHanu Studio is a beautiful place to stay that is close to the beach and affordable! We hope you take advantage!
The studio is completely private with two entrances. There is no access to the main house from inside the studio. All entrances are covered along with covered parking for your car inside the garage, next to the studio. The property and your patio plus garden area is completely private, surrounded by a 10ft hedge.
Located on the North Shore of Kauai, one minutes walk by access path to the beach near the famed Tunnels, where Sea Turtles become apart of your experience in clear waters known for great snorkeling.
HaleHanu is 2 miles south of Ke'e Beach, the start of the Kalalau Trail and Na Pali Coastline, and 1 mile north of Lumahai Beach where South Pacific was filmed. Hanalei is 7 miles south.
A walk, less than 5 minutes will take you to oceanfront dining, where you'll also find a coffee shop/gallary & spa... and more beautiful beaches.
The studio was a lovely place to stay. Lesley was very accommodating and helpful in answering our questions leading up to and during the trip. The main downside, which is more our fault for not realizing, is just how much driving would be entailed by staying this far along the North Shore and accessing activities and destinations elsewhere on the island. Even though it's just a few miles to Hanalei, I think it took 15-20 minutes just to drive just that section to Hanalei, due the narrow curvy roads and one-way bridges. But of course the situation was reversed the day we hiked the Napali Coast; everyone else had to drive a long ways and we were only 2 miles down the road!
We had the best time at this rental! The pots and pans, the refrigerator, the comfortable bed, were all better than we have at home! Simple and enjoyable access to YMCA beach and Tunnels! Great shower and lots of free perks like French Press coffee maker, and extras like beach chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, etc We would love to come back and see Pickles( the cat), Snoopy (the dog), Martha, Chuey, and Lesley the hosts!!!. Loved the free washing machine too! Don't miss the sunset at Ke'e Beach on the Napali coast, and also the Limahuli Gardens! Be sure to get a massage at the Hanalei Spa at the Colony resort!
This rental studio was a perfect match for my husband and I. We loved being able to take a short walk to the sandy beaches and take long walks around the neighborhood. The studio itself offers a great full kitchen for cooking meals, a comfortable bed, 2 private entrances, and a nice private back porch looking into fantastic tropical foliage with an orange and lemon tree too. Beach amenities are provide: a beach umbrella, chairs, mini coolers. We had access to a shared washer/dryer which was great to use during our 2 week stay. The studio has tall ceilings and 2 ceiling fans which kept the air flowing even on hot days to keep us cool. The short drive to and from Hanalei and other nearby towns is beautiful and we never tired of it. The location was great for us to explore the north shore area and spend time at Tunnels Beach and the Napali Coast. The studio is in great shape and decorated nicely. We woke every morning to the beautiful sounds of local birds. We would definitely come back to this studio for future Kauai trips!
A wonderful getaway studio in Paradise! I really enjoyed the close proximity to the beautiful beach. I've never seen so many sea turtles! The studio is lovely and has all the comforts of home. The kitchen was fully stocked with all types of dishes, a blender, a coffee maker and a French press, and an awesome gas stove. Great water pressure and endless hot water thanks to the "Paloma" tankless water heater. The family that lives there is very sweet and respectful. It was so nice to be able to use the washer and dryer too. My sensitive back would have loved a firmer mattress, but most people with no back issues would be very happy with it. Lesley the manager was a real doll, completely available and accessible for assistance with anything that may come up throughout your stay. I SO look forward to going back to my North Shore Paradise Retreat! Mahalo Halehanu...A Hui Ho!!!
My husband and I just returned from a fabulous week at this location. The studio was perfect for our needs, and we fell in love with this north shore area. A two minute walk through a lush tunnel of foliage takes you to the spectacular beach. Turn left, walking along the sand, and you come to the famous Tunnels beach. Just down the road is a great restaurant with ocean views, The Mediterranean Gourmet, which has live entertainment and a decent happy hour. Hanalei is a ten minute drive for quaint shops and other good restaurant options. We kept dropping onto farmer's markets with delicious homemade dishes that we brought home to enjoy on the patio. The kitchen is well equipped, and the washer and dryer availability was most convenient.
This studio is in a quiet neighborhood setting. You can hear the surf and wake up to the chirping birds. Leslie was very welcoming and easy to work with. I hope to come back soon!
This place and the whole Island is fantastic! Beauty everywhere you look! I stayed at Halehanu with my daughter for 6 days+1/2 day tacked on free at the end and it was lovely . The hosts were friendly and helpful. Halehanu has a wonderful kitchen with lots of food (the tiny ants are cute, but keep fruit covered if you don't want them....they were in our other 2 places we stayed also. ) ....bathroom charming (extra stuff in the medicine cabinet so check first before buying things in stores . Clothes washing handy , . It felt homey and exotic both. The walk to the semi-private beach was so beautiful, ...through 2 green tunnels. It was all so gorgeous. Beautiful sunrises on the beach. If I come back to Kauai again, I would come right here and settle in. I loved the North Shore (and east, south, and west) but north best. We enjoyed the little shops at Hanalei and Kilauea, Thrift store, The Farmers Market, The Healthy Hut, Banana Joe's... Wainiha 7women Art store but most of all I loved the Limahuli Gardens. And of course the beautiful beaches Ke'e--Tunnels--Anini--Ha'ena--and "our beach" and the Coconut Vendor Truck.and the lighthouse and I could go on and on but I will say just go see for yourself. I recommend Halehanu to everyone. It was beyond expectations.( There is an Ultimate Kauai Guidebook there also, which was very helpful for finding unmarked beaches, and etc.)
The home is set away from the road with the studio on the back side of the house, giving it privacy. There is a 10 foot hedge surrounding the entire property with exception of the driveway. The beach access path runs along the property on the other side of the hedge with the beach one minutes walk away. There is a wide beach area with reef. For good snorkeling, you may walk in either direction for one minute or less for many bays, including Tunnels further up about 10 minutes walk. The Trail Head is 2 miles up the road as well, where Ke'ee beach is, go early and take our walking sticks with you.
