Pere Marquette River 'fly's Only Section' 6000 Feet Of River Frontage

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Baths, Sleeps up to 12 - 10 feet from River

A 'big brother' cabin to the 'Green Cabin', we have used this cabin for family and friends over the years. It has 3 bedrooms with 4 beds each, 2 full baths, washer/dryer, full kitchen all with a large screened in front porch right on the river. Also has outdoor fire pit. If you are looking for a home base to enjoy the river - whether it is fly fishing, kayaking or just to watch the river go by- this is it. Located on 80 acres of wooded land, with over 6000 feet of river frontage (both sides) this is solitude at its best.

About Kim or Pam Gary

We purchased this land and cabins because we fell in love with the Lake County area. We built our log home just down river for not only a home, but a place our whole family can enjoy and gather. With 4 children, 7 dogs and 2 grand children we needed lots of room to roam.

Kim or Pam Gary purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Kim or Pam Gary chose Baldwin

When I showed this property to my wife, her only response was 'Buy it' It is our 'slice of heaven'

What makes this cabin unique

The view from the front screen porch says it all. Listening to the river go by and the next neighbor is 1/2 mile away.

Great cabin, but I felt it was misrepresented in the ad

  • 3 of 5

The discription of this cabin was very misleading. You think your going to be close to the river. I was so looking forward to being able to just step into the river at will. Upon arrival my heart sunk to see the severe drop from property to the river. Had I known, I probably would have found another rental. Having to search for a good access was not something I was expecting, especially with the discription being what it was in the ad. The cabin was great, clean, and in great working order, except for one door lock that was faulty. If you do not mind climbing up and down banks to fish, this really is a nice cabin and location.

Owner's Response: Fran, Wow I really don't know how to respond. Of all the hundreds of people who have stayed there, they can't believe how close they are to the river, never any concern about the 8 foot bank. If it was any lower to the river, it would be flooded every spring. To say I misrepresented it is just plain wrong, I take great pride in accurately representing my property. I have kayaked that river many times and don't know of a place that is closer to the river or easier access. I am glad the cabin met your standards as I have recently put in both new tiled bathrooms, all new LED lighting, on demand hot water heater this spring. Kim

Camp Running Roots #1 of 2017

  • 5 of 5

The first ever Camp Running Roots was a complete success on the banks of the Pere Marquette River. The camp, a running camp for adults, has been a vision of mine and my wife's for sometime time. The Red and Green Cabins provided the perfect backdrop for food, fun, fitness and friends. Already looking forward to Camp #2 this weekend. We had a total of 14 campers up for three days and two nights and they all raved about the location and the experience they had. From kayaking, to yoga, to running on the North Country Trail - we really had a great couple of days!!! Thank you Kim!

Great vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

Exactly what I was hoping for. Relaxing, comfortable. Perfect getaway! Our family rented both Red and Green Cabin. Green cabin felt a little older but still comfortable.

The owner Kim was great to work with.

Definitely would recommend.

Trout fisherman's dream rental

  • 5 of 5

Very nice cabin on some of the best water in the state. The cabin is in an ideal location with three fly shops in town, a handful of great restaurants and everything you need within a short drive. Everyone is very nice and the Jones ice cream shop is just as I remember as a youth. Barski is a great place to eat and quickly became our favorite, just north on m37. To be fair though, we did not have a bad meal. All the restaurants we tried were very good.

High water and lack of experience on the pm held the trout in the net photos to a minimum but didn't lessen the pleasure. I believe the next time I will most likely hire a guide to float and learn. The pm is not a simple river!

Sitting on the screen porch with the river as your show is a pleasure I will treasure forever. The entire trip was awesome!

Thank You Kim!!

Perfect for a getaway with the guys

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time. Everything was clean and in working order. Paper towel and toilet paper are important and often forgotten. This cabin has it all. We will be back for sure!

Excellent location on prime fishing waters.

  • 5 of 5

Five of us enjoyed 4 days of excellent fishing on the PM in early July. River access was as easy as walking down a short path to the water's edge, where wading was easy and fishing was productive. Cabin description is very accurate. Best features of the cabin include the screened in porch overlooking the river just out front, the spacious, well stocked kitchen complete with dishwasher, and the quiet, peaceful location away from it all. Bedroom mattresses are a bit saggy and the beds a bit squeaky, but we all slept well. We definitely plan to return for more fishing fun.
