Beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, cottage that sits on 85ft of lakefront property located steps away from crystal clear Lake Sylvia (17ft of water clarity). In addition to the cabin, we also have an air-conditioned bunk house with a full size Murphy bed and two sets of bunk beds (no bathroom). At the back of our 1 acre property there is a large shop that we've made into a game area. We have a basketball court, ping pong table and dart board for those rainy days. At the lakefront, we have two docks to accommodate your boat(s) and/or jet-ski(s) for lake cruising, or just relax on the dock and cast in a line. The lake is great for swimming and we have many adult & kids floaters to lounge on. End your swimming day by lighting a fire in our fire pit right on the water. The cottage has a massive deck with a large patio table that can accommodate up to 8 people comfortably - the view is gorgeous! Loons visit the property often, and occasionally you’ll see a crane or bald eagle hanging around. Inside the cabin, the kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, stove, etc. The living room has a fireplace, TV and DVD player with plenty of movies for adults & kids. There is a large bedroom with lots of closet space, and a loft space with a full size bed and storage space (bed linens provided). There is one bathroom with a shower, and one with a large jet tub - both are supplied with towels (beach towels are not available).
As we drove down the gravel road, we didn't know what to expect. then we walked around the cottage to the huge deck, and there was a beautiful view of the lake! and that is where we spent a wonderful week. We ate all our meals on the deck and enjoyed the cottage paddle boards and our boat that we kept tied to the dock, The pole barn was a fun break for ping pong and scooter riding for our 2 year old granddaughter. The bunkhouse was a perfect spot for our growing family to stay, We cooked marshmellows at the fire pit which is built in the rocks on shore, and enjoyed the moon rise over the lake.
The lake is very clean and deep, and a good size to tour around. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching boats go by,
The master bedroom is very big and the bathroom is too. The kitchen was fully stocked, plenty of cupboards and easy to work in. The living room is small and the furniture is really cute, but we found it uncomfortable, but the weather was perfect for being on the deck.
We did get into Annandale for some shopping in the shops on the main street. and got some groceries at a nice grocery store and an great meat market, Petty Brothers, which has a large selection of gourmet brats!
We LOVED our week at the Blue Heron Cottage!
Property was clean an well maintained had a great time
Water clear. Great accommodations. Fun DVDs.
Close to city. Easy commute. If not familiar with area, recommend arriving in daylight.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful vacation week at this beautiful cabin. There was space for everyone to spread out and enjoy a variety of activities. The paddle boats were a favorite activity. Lake Sylvia is also a great lake with crystal clear water. We were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the bunkhouse accommodations were. Great owner who was very welcoming and helpful. Relaxing on the huge deck was the best part!
We had a fantastic time. The absolutely best location on the lake! All the amenities we needed to assure a great family outing. Sunrise over the lake, crystal clear water. We can't wait to come back in the summertime. Highly recommend! Thanks for sharing such a great place with us.
Cabin and extras were great for a family time at the lake. We enjoyed ping pong, walks, fishing, games and boating. The weather could have been warmer, but that is what you get in Minnesota in September. The nicest day was the day we left. Cabin was well equipped. The grand kids enjoyed the bunk house and loft.
Lake Sylvia is the most beautiful of the lakes in the Annandale area. The water is so clear that you can see down about 15ft. We have two docks, so bring both your boat and jet ski, and enjoy cruising the lake. Keep your eye out for a number of Loons and Bald Eagles. If you like to hike check out Stanley Eddie Park Reserve made up of three separate units with biking, hiking, & horse trails, lakes & scenic views. For a more adult leisure activity visit Millner Heritage Vineyard & Winery in Annadale; only 11 miles away. Here, you can reserve vineyard tours & wine tastings. Other nearby cities include: Maple Lake, Kimball, & Buffalo which are close by providing antique shopping, as well as restaurants, bars and coffee shops.
