Captains' Cottage features two bedrooms-- One with a queen bed(photo not updated yet) and the other with twin beds. The living and dining area are adjacent and open. The living area has a pull-out sofa and a love seat. The table in the eating area seats 4 and there is also a small bar area where two may enjoy coffee, make drinks, or enjoy a quick meal. In the living area you will find a 42" plasma TV with HD Mediacom cable and wireless internet. The kitchen is complete with a refrigerator/freezer, full range and oven, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, blender, and a full compliment of dishes, etc. You will also find a washer and dryer in the hallway closet for all your laundry needs. The house has a covered front porch with room for 4 to sit. There is a small deck on the back porch which is shaded partially by a nice magnolia tree. Both are great for enjoying the sunrise, sunset, and a cup of coffee.
Great little cottage. Well stocked for guests. Sunset can be seen from one of the living room windows:) My only issue would be the mattresses in 2nd bedroom. I have little kids so it didn't bother them, but not ideal for big kids or Adults. With that said, i would definitely book again.
Very nice and what a value! Caretaker is very nice and helpful too. Half a block from the beach. Located on the very quiet end of Mexico Beach. We loved it!
The Captain's Cottage is very cozy and comfortable. It was very clean and had all the kitchen and bathroom supplies that I needed for the whole stay. It is located across the street from the ocean (very easy walk). They even had beach chairs and beach towels for us to use during our stay. I will definitely be staying here again next year!
My wife and were a bit hesitant, because we had never used VRBO before. We were both very pleased with the Captain's Cottage. The home is very clean and well maintained. The owners have obviously kept it updated and looking "beach chic." The cottage is only 1 block from the beach. It is a very easy walk to the board walk that takes you down to the beach. The beach itself is very nice and not crowded. Each evening we enjoyed taking our beach chairs and a bottle of wine to the beach to watch the sunset. It was very romantic.
This part of Florida is called the forgotten coast for a reason. It isn't developed nearly to the point that many other trendy locations are. It has the small town feel. We enjoyed buying fresh seafood at St. Patrick's fish market in Port St. Joe and bringing it back to the cottage to cook. The owner is a colorful older man who will entertain you even though he doesn't realize that's what he's doing. If you get him talking he won't let you leave. I find that part of the charm that this area has.
Everything met and exceeded our expectations for the cottage. We hope to come here again.
My wife and i really enjoyed our 0ne month ( March 16 to April 16 ) 2016 stay at the " Caption's Cottage " in Mexico Beach Florida. The cottage was nicely decorated and only steps away from the beach. The owners were very friendly and if there was anything you needed all you had to do was ask. Mexico Beach is the place to go to experience the " Old Florida Charm ". Great White Sandy Beaches, Friendly people, great fishing and plenty of sunshine. It doesn't get any better than this. We will be back > Thanks for the "Memories" Dan & Mary McCarty
