Built in 1923, remodeled in 2013, and bursting with vintage details, this street level (but upper floor) apartment is 2 blocks from all of the restaurants and boutiques of Sunset Junction. Views of the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park Observatory are yours to enjoy from the old fashioned sun porch off the master bedroom. The eclectic, cabin-like look and feel has all the comforts you would want in a city apartment, including a large flat screen TV, in-unit washer/dryer, full dining room setup, full bath, and a nice -sized kitchen. We also have a VERY easy check-in process, with the key easily accessible via lockbox. If you appreciate design, you will enjoy discovering all of the little vintage touches, such as the antique doorknobs-turned-coat rack, the suitcase end table, and the french iron bistro table.
We began restoring buildings in Silverlake in 1997, but it's been a lifelong passion. Tim has a background in set decorating and woodworking. Robin has a background in art history and photography. We use salvaged/eco-friendly building materials, antique furnishings, and green cleaning products whenever possible.
We have many years of experience as landlords and hosts, and are known for being responsive, service-minded, and reasonable with pricing and management.
Robin Wallace and Tim Snowber purchased this apartment in 2003
We love this part of Silver Lake because we can walk almost everywhere we need to go, but when we need to drive, the 5, 101, 110, and 134 freeways are very close by. We've always loved the trees, the architecture, and the neighborhood feel of Silver Lake. This building has a 'Tales of the City' vibe to it, which we have worked hard to preserve.
Whether you are interested in architecture, sightseeing, music, food, wine, artisan boutiques, or the outdoors, Silver Lake has all of this and more to offer... we love this unit in particular because it has the convenience of a street level unit with the benefits of top-floor views of the city and hills.
The house is super cute and everything was really easy from the beginning with Robin and Tim. They will answer your questions immediately. The best thing in my opinion is the location, you are just next, 5 minutes walking distance, to a really nice area of cafes, shops and restaurants, which is not easy to find in LA. Silver Lake in general is very central to everything. We are a group of 4 friends from Amsterdam and we liked being in a place where we could get everywhere quickly.
This location is good because I have family in Silver Lake where there is a dearth of hotels. It is clean, cozy and simple and I loved having early-morning coffee on the porch, admiring the view of the Hollywood sign and the Observatory. My only suggestion would be to have instructions on how to operated the satellite TV. Thanks, Tim!
This home was exactly as advertised: clean, charming, and comfortable, with easy check in/out and a fantastic location in Silver Lake. When I had a question, Tim was very responsive and helpful. I recommend this place highly and will book again next time!
This is a charming property in a great location. The place has an old-time feel while still offering modern amenities like central air conditioning. We especially liked the enclosed porch off the back bedroom, from which you can see the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory. And the washer and dryer--what a luxury. Parking was easy, and lots of essential services (restaurants and bars!) are within walking distance. We highly recommend this property.
This is a very spacious and clean two bed rooms house in Sliver Lake. It is very close driving distance to West Hollywood, where we went to The Comedy Store. And also easy to get to from the Dodger Stadium. We had a very fun weekend in LA. Thank you for hosting us.
Cute and clean place where we immediately felt at home! Nice owners. Not very far from famous parts of LA.
We highly recommend it!
When we arrived at Tim and Robin's Silverlake cottage, we walked through the gate, and it was like walking into a perfect Silverlake hideaway.
The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was remodeled nicely and the view from the sunporch was incredible. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
This property is 2 miles from Griffith Park, with hiking trails, horseback riding, the Zoo, the Observatory, the Autry Museum, Travel Town, the Carousel, and Shane's Inspiration. Loads of fun for everyone. It's also nearby Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House in Barnsdall Park, MOCA, Disney Hall, The Echo/Echoplex and all that Echo Park has to offer. Plus Amoeba in Hollywood. Lots to look forward to.
