We fell in love with this house when we first saw it and have used it for many happy holidays in Sanary ourselves. This house was one of the last of the “old town” built in 1860 and right in the heart of the pedestrianised area within walking distance of everything including the beach and port. Access to the sea is through a little passageway just outside the house that brings you out on the seafront in the centre of this picturesque fishing port and village. There are three good sized bedrooms (two doubles and one twin), a large open plan American kitchen/dining area and sitting room which takes up most of the ground floor. It has beautiful exposed oak beams and large open fireplace. There is a modern shower room downstairs. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, large frost less fridge freezer and electric oven with gas hob. The house is less than 50m from the beach and port, with many restaurants and bars in this very pretty seaside port which is alive all year round.
Just to let you know we had a wonderful time at your house in Sanary. We were very fortunate with the weather, and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The location was superb and Madam Faye and her husband were very welcoming and helpful. I have attached a few pictures of Sanary (there was a pirate theme on one day with the fishing boats), although no doubt you will have plenty of your own. One of the pictures is of two generations of the Harveys (my parents and myself), the third generation being the one who took the photo. At least you will now have a face to the mad English who have stayed in your house.
We are an extended family of 6, 4 adults and two children. We have just returned from a weeks stay (not enough, book two!) at this lovely townhouse. The location could not be any better; you are right in the heart of the town, yet tucked away on a lovely side street so you have privacy and peace and quiet.
The bakers next door is to die for, we loved our little routine of calling in every morning for the (best ever) baguettes for breakfast; still warm when we bought them! Then a 5 minute stroll to the beach set us up for a lovely day.
The Wednesday main market is lovely with the most amazing fresh fish, meat, vegetables, breads, deserts and olives all laid out along the front of the harbour.
Every cafe and restaurant we tried, was fantastic also. This really is a hidden gem.
The property was perfect, very clean and user friendly, with a well stocked kitchen and plenty of books, games and DVD's for nights in. Very quiet area so you can sleep with the windows open at night without being disturbed.
We have honestly already started talking about another trip next year. With so many other lovely towns and amazing sights within a few miles, this really is an area that you should explore.
Just a shame we only stayed for the one week....!
A great family house in a fabulous location, with everything from beach towels and sun umbrellas to take to the beach. Our son loved the playstation. We enjoyed going to the daily market where we could buy all the fresh produce. The beach is just a 5 minute walk away and the harbour is just breath takingly beautiful. The town at night comes alive with a night street market with all local goodies. There is lots of great places to eat in sanary , as a family we loved this holiday and can not wait to return. Home from home. Facilities perfect for a family even down to bucket and spades and beach towels! Situated stones throw from promenade with restaurants on doorstep. Nice to sit outside on street and watch passers by. Hopefully air on next year. Would choose again if returning to Sanury.
The location couldn't have been better for our holiday. The beach was within minutes walking distance where a small water sports school offers lessons or hiring out of windsurfing, SUP lessons and more. Eating out was amazing; so much choice and all delicious as was the daily market, also within a minutes walk; as were the many bakeries. It is a superb spot; quiet but everything you could want within minutes walk. The house has everything you could wish for to make a stay comfortable and when we couldn't get the wi-fi to co-operate, the owner was quick to respond with helpful advice. We hope to return there.
Lovely warm old house in the middle of everything but quiet and secure. Loads of bed linen, china and cooking utensils and "like home" feel. Excellent welcome, directions and liaison with owners and keyholders. Comfy beds. Restaurant opposite and bakery/cafe next door. Bliss!
Sanary-sur-Mer is located 5km east of Bandol near Toulon and is on the coast in beautiful Provence. It is a beautiful fishing port, which also has its own beach and is very close to the picturesque islands of Port-Cros and Porquerolles which are only a short boat ride away. Visit St Tropez, Aix, fortified villages such as Le Castellet. Take boat trips down the beautiful coastline and see the Callanques de Cassis, go walking in the hills behind Sanary with their spectacular views or just sit on the beach and enjoy the market, restaurants, evening entertainments, fairs and fireworks laid on by the town. Very child friendly. the house is in Ruelle de l'Enclos, just in front of the Theatre Galli. As well as Toulon airport (Ryanair) there is also Marseille airport (Easyjet, Ryanair and British Airways) 79 km, or you can fly to Nimes (Ryanair) - 180 km or Nice (1.5 to 2 hours).
