Nestled on a hillside stand of ponderosa pines between two vacant tree-covered lots, Deer Haven is where our guests enjoy beautiful open views of the surrounding countryside and peaceful seclusion in a relaxed setting after a full day of fun activities. It is a spacious, comfortable mountain cabin with 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms located midway between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.
The large deck and outdoor fire pit are great places to enjoy the cool mountain air, watch the deer walk by, or just relax with family and friends. Enjoy grilling on the propane grill, or toasting marshmallows over a wood fire in the fire pit. (Fire wood provided.) The forested hillside and private adjacent lot add to the feeling of privacy.
The cabin has three levels. The main level of the cabin the living room/kitchen/dining area which is open and spacious with beautiful views of the mountains. The kitchen is well stocked and convenient for meal preparation. There is also a full bath and laundry room on the main level. The home is equipped with TV/DVD and INTERNET for your convenience.
The upper level has two large bedrooms and one full bathroom. There is a king size bed in bedroom 1 and a queen size bed in bedroom 2. Both bedrooms are extra spacious with sitting areas.
The third bedroom is on the lower level. It has a full/twin bunk bed and a large sitting area with a sofa sleeper and TV/DVD. There is also an adjoining 1/2 bathroom.
This is a great home-base for your Southern Utah vacation. Enjoy the National Parks, hiking, fishing, ATV trails, and horseback riding just minutes away from the cabin. Be sure to view the Insiders Guide below for area attractions.

There is an international airport in Las Vegas, NV (4 hours) and Salt Lake City, UT (4 ½ hours). Cedar City and St George each have a regional airport. Las Vegas and Salt Lake City are both linked with Interstate 15 with an exit to Cedar City.
From Cedar City it's just a short 50 minutes on a beautiful scenic drive up the mountain on Highway 14 to our cabin. As you approach the summit (about 10,000 ft elevation) you will have a birds-eye view of Zion National Park. Stop and enjoy the view.
Should you happen to forget something, there is Tod's Country Store that is about 1/2 mile away and has a limited selection. Groceries, gas, gifts, liquor, beer, wine, ice, soft serve ice cream and a self-serve grill to cook your hamburger, steak sandwich or hot dog to your perfection!
Come stay, you will be glad you did.
We chose this property because of its views! The location is great because of its close proximity to Zion, Bryce, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. We own the vacant lot next door which adds to the feeling of privacy and gives our guests plenty of outdoor space.
Elk Ridge Estates is located midway between Zion and Bryce National Parks making it a short trip to both. The roads in the neighborhood are chip sealed, eliminating the dust that you find in mountain neighborhoods. The roads are plowed in the wintertime making the cabin accessible all year 'round.
We have stayed at many rental homes across the country, and this is probably one of the BEST in ranking!! The home is spacious (places for kids to play, adults to relax on the porch and drink coffee, etc...), has a beautiful view of sunset in the evening, and has everything a family needs to make the place feel at home - Ms. Tracy C. even stocks the place with holders if you want to roast marshmallow!! The place is also very clean.
The BEST part however is the DEER - the DEER roamed frequently past the house, in the front, in the back, across the meadow, grazing around the house morning and night!! It was simply delightful for our family as we love nature so much, and it was what we came to visit Utah and the Parks for.... to have glimpses of wildlife.... which to our surprise was spotted everywhere, including our immediate surrounding. Ms. Tracy C. made the rental process very easy, and the home certainly made our stay very enjoyable and relaxing all the way around!! It was 45-50 minutes to both Zion and Bryce so sometime we came home to relax and went back out to catch the sunset at Bryce. We would definitely recommend this place to family and friends!!
We had a great time hanging out here and using this cabin as a base for our visits to Bryce Canyon and the surrounding areas. We have children ranging in age from 4-20. Everyone enjoyed our 4-night stay. We would love to come back here sometime. Situated mid-way between Bryce Canyon and Zion NP, it is only about a 40 minute drive to either. We spent our time visiting Bryce Canyon, Tropic (eat at Clark's and the Pizza place nearby), playing on ATVs we rented at Bryce Wildlife Adventure (the kids' favorite) and milling about the cabin. [Other reviewers were spot-on about the cabin being stocked with the thoughtful, little things--ziploc bags, saran wrap, lots of fluffy towels, etc.] Fires, roasted marshmallows and s'mores were a fun evening activity. Observing the deer and other wildlife around the property and neighborhood was also very enjoyable for us. All of the information we received from Tracy was helpful and everything went totally smoothly for us. I'm SO glad we didn't book a hotel!
What a great place. Everything was provided to give us a great time. The owners have made Deer Haven the best. A great location to visit Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, etc... The home was excellent and provided a great central place to rest and relax between the excursions to the National Parks. Morning coffee on the porch was excellent!
If you need a place 45 minutes away from Bryce National Park and 45 minutes to the south gate of Zion National Park ( takes time to park and take the shuttle bus) then this is the place. It was just wonderful. The place is big and feels just like home. It was clean and enough towels for a army. There is everything you can think of to make your stay comfortable. It was the little things like sandwich bags, foil, and even plastic containers for left overs that make it home. The deck is wonderful for morning coffee to grilled dinners. The deer watching is a plus. I didn't realize it did not have AC but once we learned how to open the windows and close the blinds the place was great. Fans are there too. The lower level was comfortable and even cool. The mornings can be cool so we even had to "close" the windows for a few hours. I would recommend this place to everyone. It was difficult to stay at the next place because we were always comparing it to Alton.
This is a great cabin home midway between Bryce and Zion park. It is easy to get to from Vegas and is just off the highway which gives access to both parks (45 minutes to either park). The neighborhood is fantastic with very friendly people. It is quiet and there is a small convenience store with fuel within 1/4 mile. The home is immaculate and well kept with all the amenities you could need.
Deer Haven was the perfect location to visit all the beautiful parks in Utah. The Cabin was 45 minutes or less from Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Red Canyon, Cedar Breaks Monument as well as scenic Highway 12. The cabin had everything we needed including a lovely view and "visiting" deer. It was very clean and had nice linens. The owners answered all our questions and provided a list of local grocery stores. If you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy some peaceful evenings after your long hikes, this is the place. It also has some lovely local areas such as Navajo Lake, Aspen Mirror Lake and Cascade Falls that are quiet and beautiful. We visited Cedar Breaks twice which was a beautiful 30 minute car trip along scenic highway 14 which is just around the corner. It was beautiful at sunset and had lots of deer and ground hogs. There was even snow at the top in June! The locals were very friendly and we enjoyed walking the neighborhood and visiting the local german bakery and small shops in Orderville. I would highly recommend this cabin and area to anyone who is looking for a place to call home during your travels to Utah.
