Carole Stone author of : 'The Ultimate Guide to Successful Networking' said of her stay in 2004, 'La Plantade is a very personal villa in which to entertain both family and friends on holiday. The shady terrace and the garden were particularly admired by guests.'
Huw Radley wrote: “In July 2004 we spent two glorious weeks at La Plantade which is perfectly located in idyllic Tourrettes sur Loup. Most memorable are the wonderful views from the superb, all round well sheltered terrace and upper main bedroom – the distant sea, the mountains, and a perfect view of the village - which in itself is such a delight. Don’t miss market day on Wednesday for some additional local delicacies. Our plans to explore the Cote d’Azur were somewhat put on hold given the temptation to just chill out at the poolside, and enjoy the ambiance of the villa and its beautiful gardens. Having said that, access to the entire region is within a very short drive - and well worth the effort.'
This was our fifth visit to Tourrettes in fifteen years , a strong enough recommendation in itself , and our holidays there have spanned all three of our offspring from children to adults , yet still we all want to go back . It is a very special village , first and foremost , steeped in history , arts , crafts , food , wine , and all the French essentials for what we might imagine France stands for , yet it looks down on the noise , bustle , and bling of the Cote d'Azur , and has the same wonderful weather by and large . Tourrettes has a " Je ne sais quoi " feel about it . Whether it is the traditional " boules " being played in the village square , the fantastic weekday market , the spotless walkway through the medieval town , the wonderful restaurants or the sheer panoramic beauty of it all , it has its own fantastic atmosphere .
La Plantade had the same unique atmosphere , because it doubles as a family home of some longevity , and has the most wonderful view of Tourrettes and beyond . If you are sleeping in the library bedroom , as we were , you will throw open the French doors of a morning , and be faced with this sweeping landscape of medieval town surrounded by rolling countryside to the sea . If you are in the upstairs bedroom facing West , the view is even more spectacular . The accommodation is perfect , clean , cosy , comfortable , mod-conned , wi-fied , and yet populated with fabulous old furniture , art , books and objets d'arts . The two terraces , or three if you include the one outside the studio flat , meant you could have your own independence without showing it . The pool and surrounding garden are immaculately maintained , and the colours of the flowers , which are everywhere , are amazing .
The " after sales " service from Andrea , the owner , and her team , Laura and Audrey , deserves special mention because they made us feel like hotel guests as well as holiday tenants , a rare achievement .
We would wholeheartedly recommend La Plantade to all and sundry .
The house is well-located with neighbouring houses not too close so that if offers plenty of privacy. You can walk easily into the village where you can do all your daily shopping. The interior of the house is very personal and welcoming. The bathrooms have towels and hair driers. The kitchen is well-equipped so there is no need to bring anything. The area offers plenty to see and do: hiking, museums, food, beaches, villages. However, it’s definitely nice to have a day at home and to relax in or around the house. The pool is too cold for swimming in April/May but it is a good size and attractive. The property is clean and well-maintained. The owner is very helpful. Lunch in the village pub is a must - Café du Midi or Café des Sports - and increases the feeling of being a local in this beautiful area.
Best holidays I years
It has been a great holiday- the best in years. "La Plantade" such a lovely house with atmosphere and charm. The garden and the swimming pool was great, so we enjoyed the stay very much. We were 7 persons at all, 5 is our family relative and 2 are their girlfriends - and the size of the house made it all functions very well. We also loved the short walk to the fine tennis court area about 3 minutes walk to go. And in 5 minutes from the house, we are already in the centre of the lovely town Tourrettes sur Loup, were we could buy and explore everything nearly. Skive Denmark 20 august 2016.
La Plantade was everything we expected it to be from the description and the photographs. The Villa has plenty of space,is well equipped and is full of interesting furniture and art works. The Villa was very well prepared for us and Andrea, the owner, explained all we needed to know in order to have a relaxing holiday. She also supplied lots of very useful information about the area and activities. The pool is large and well maintained as are the gardens with plenty of space but quite private. The village is a short walk away and is a delightful medieval village with friendly people. It is well supplied with restaurants and we ate out several times at various places.
We hope to go back to La Plantade and would certainly recommend this property.
Our vacation at La Plantade was everything we hoped it would be: relaxing, very comfortable, spacious for our brood of 7 ( ages 22-57), close to amenities that suited that age spread, and made us all feel “at home”. The pictures that Andrea has posted of the villa are very true to what greets you upon your arrival. A living area to have everyone collect in the evenings for chats and playing of cards and games; a kitchen that was very functional to make those meals you would like at home; the terraces to eat the meals at or relax and read a book out of the sun; and the bedrooms to allow you a wonderful sleep after exploring the area all day.
The pool and lounging chairs offered cooling off from the sun and wonderful weather we had while visiting for the 4 days.
Tourrettes itself was a short walk from the villa and a very quaint, medieval village with wonderful restaurants, artisan shops, market, and great strolls. We would have enjoyed more time there to explore.
Short drives into the hills and other villages, or train into Nice and Monaco were parts of our agendas while visiting.
Andrea was a wonderful person to deal with before, during and after our visit. She offered so much information about the area, things to do from walking groups, artisan shops, restaurants, wineries, museums, shopping and on and on. No shortage of taking in so much that is to offer you in the area.
The process of booking, sending the deposit, arrival, departure, and receipt back of the damage deposit was very simple, straight-forward and trustworthy.
We all had such a great experience making family memories here and will return again to La Plantade in the future- only this time for longer!
Highly recommend this villa and working with Andrea.
My wife and I stayed at the villa for a week and had a wonderful time. The villa itself is spectacular having well cared for grounds, a great terrace, and being nicely finished inside. It was fantastic to enjoy a morning coffee on the terrace as the sun was rising.
The villa is located an easy and enjoyable walk to the town of Tourrettes-sur-Loup where we were pleasantly surprised by the village and its superb restaurants. The location of the villa is also excellent to explore other cities around the French Riviera. We comfortably made day trips to St. Tropez, Antibes, and Nice.
Tourrettes-sur-Loup is a beautiful medieval village situated on a hilltop overlooking the blue Mediterranean and its adjacent promontories. Built as a refuge over 1200 years ago against the invasions of the Saracens it became in the 20th century a place renowned for attracting artists of all persuasions: poets, painters, musicians, sculptors, film directors and movie stars. Among these were Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Lelouche (of 'A Man and a Woman' fame), and Jacques Prévert.
Today its narrow pedestrian streets contain a wealth of artistic shops. There are art galleries, textile weavers, ceramic potteries and original jewellers. Four outstanding restaurants nestle in its alleyways.
Ten minutes away is famous St. Paul-de-Vence with its innumerable art galleries and the renown Fondation Maeght, home to a vast collection of Miro's, Giacometti's, Calder's, etc.
Further afield to the south the glamour and sophistication of Nice offer exciting nightlife complete with casinos, theatres, concert halls and the opera together with high-end world-class shopping.
The excitement of Cannes and its film festival are only 35-40 minutes away while Antibes with its world-class marina - considered the biggest and best in the Mediterranean - is even closer. Its elegant centre and fascinating Picasso waterfront museum are not to be missed.
Going north you encounter the romantic 'arrière pays' where life continues in the old ways and for the daring sport enthusiast there is paragliding and even skiing in the winter at Gréolieres.
Often at Christmas time you can be sitting in your shirtsleeves in the sunshine enjoying the view to the Mediterranean while contemplating the afternoon's skiing expedition!
