In late 2007 we rented a cabin in Wears Valley for our honeymoon in the Smoky Mountains. The area was peaceful and serene and we found ourselves wanting to come back to the mountains. An opportunity arose years later to own a cabin that would become our second home.
Fast forward to the present and we are now a family of four living in central Illinois. We are happy to share our home away from home with you so that you, too, may enjoy the serene views and the peaceful atmosphere our cabin provides.
Arlin & Emily purchased this cabin in 2010
Wears Valley area is in the 'quiet' side of the mountains. We aren't too far from the popular, tourist stops yet we feel like we have privacy in the mountains. When we honeymooned in the mountains, we wanted to wake up and see the mountains. Our cabin accentuates this statement.
We enjoy the views that this cabin has to offer...and we are opening it up for you to enjoy as well.
Driving up to the cabin, you see the mountains. Once you arrive to the cabin, and look out on the deck, it was worth the drive!
Quiet and serene.
I was truly impressed with this amazing cabin. It was perfect for a spring break getaway with my husband and 1 year old son. The beautifully decorated real log cabin has EVERYTHING you will need. When I say everything, I mean it. The kitchen had more pots, baking pans, cups, silverware, appliances, cookie sheets, pizza pans, and storage containers than I have at my own home. There was even dishwasher AND sink soap. There were also enough paper towels and toilet paper to last us a month!
I would suggest bringing more bathing towels as there were only 4. We had to wash the bathing towels daily( yes, there was even laundry detergent) as we were in the AMAZING hot tub at least once a day. They did provide plenty of hand towels and washcloths made in to cute towel animals.
We spent quite a bit of time on the 2 porches! One with the hot tub just looking out to the Smoky Mountains and the other swinging on the porch swing and rocking chairs.
We ended up keeping the trashcans inside the cabin until the day we left because the first 2 nights the trashcans were flipped over and empty. We were thinking it was just raccoon's, UNTIL......We saw a HUGE bear walking up the driveway to the neighboring cabin. The bear was trying with all his might to get into their trashcan with no success as it was a locking one and he couldn't get into it. I would suggest the owners getting better locking trashcans.
Let me talk about the owners for a minute. They are so sweet and the most helpful. I had many questions before booking the cabin. They answered all my questions the same day usually within an hour of me asking. Can you believe they even sent me pages of things to do in the surrounding areas? That was so helpful as we wanted to see and do an assortment of things while on spring break.
I will say the most enjoyable things we did were close to the cabin and not in the over populated areas. The people in Townsend and Wear Valley were some of the most friendly people I have even met.
My final thought.....When we go back to the Smoky Mountains, we will be staying at "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"!
This cabin was perfect for a long girls weekend! Kind of a long drive away from pigeon forge and Gatlinburg but very close to the park, which is where we spent most of our time!
Cabin was small, but comfortable for the 3 of us. Very very clean. View was incredible and we loved the hot tub.
We felt very welcome and we had everything that we needed there!
The only complaint I have is that the upstairs shower didn't seem to be working right. Everything else was perfect for us!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. Arlin was awesome in providing us with info on the cabin and things to do and places to eat. The cabin was perfect for our short stay. Thanks again!!
We loved this cabin. Location was ideal for us. Short drive to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, but away from the hustle and bustle of the two main drags. There is a Dollar General nearby for small items and a Kroger further away in Pigeon Forge. We liked driving alongside Fighting Creek to Gatlinburg for the spectacular views. The cabin was small, but just the right size for our family of 4. Two kids 4 and 8. There is more seating then it looks like from the pictures. There is a love seat, matching chair, and cushioned ottoman. Fireplace is very kid safe and easy to operate, just turn the knob. Does not really get hot where the kids can reach. Picnic table on the porch is perfect for breakfast outside when the weather cooperates. I really enjoyed cooking breakfast in the morning and being able to see out the large glass windows facing out to the valley. We would put the kids to bed for the night upstairs and then head down for some alone time. We would stay up playing pool or relaxing on the porch swing out on the downstairs balcony. The washer / dryer is down stairs so I was able to run loads while we were hanging out. Beds were comfy. We slept one night on the murphy bed and that was comfortable as well. Santa visited the cabin during our trip, so it was very convenient to have a tree already there. We hope to stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay overall. Cabin is cute. The only complaint was the shower head in the upstairs would only allow a trickle of water. The stairs are kind of tricky but manageable.
We enjoyed our stay at Ain't No Mountain High Enough and would recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the huddle and bussle of resort, hotel or downtown Gatlinburg. We enjoyed the hot tub on upper deck and amazing view. This is the perfect Cabin for couples or small families who spend most thier time in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains. It is close to everything yet secluded. Arlin and the management company took care of all our needs promptly without any fuss. One suggestion would be to put a door knob instead of the handle on front door. We did have a very close bear encounter so just be aware when you are getting in our out of your car and don't leave anything food or drink related ( bag of charcoal ) outside or in your car. We would definitely stay here again.
