Liz and Mario are residents of Vienna, VA in FairfaxCounty. Liz's parents bought this property in 1996 as a retirement home, but sadly both passed away two years later. Although they only went there on weekends, the local community got to know them and made us feel like part of the local area. Liz and Mario decided to buy out the rest of the family and keep the home. Before kids, they would use it as a weekend getaway for golf trips. While the kids were young, we rented the property full time to pay for the mortgage, but in between tenants we were able to get down once a year or so. Now that the kids are older, and enjoy the summer on the bay, we like to balance the renting with our own personal enjoyment of the area.
Liz Potemra purchased this house in 1998
The Northern Neck is a beautiful hidden gem of Virginia that is loved by all who discover it. This property, in White Stone, is a couple miles from the world renowned Tides Inn in Irvington. Located on Carter's creek, enjoy water access to the Rappahannock, fishing from the dock, or just the views from the decks. Golf at the Tides or the King Carter golf courses. Close to the Dog & Oyster vineyard, halfway between the towns of White Stone and Irvington and 10 minutes from Kilmarnock (on the trolley route in the summer!), shop and antique in this unique area.
This property is set in a secluded part of Carter's Creek. Built in the side of a hill, the main level has a deck overlooking the creek. Below, enjoy creek views from the family room and bedroom or decks from each of these.
Centrally located. Well-equipped. Very comfortable and homey. Nice elevated porch.
My friend and I spent a relaxing (but rainy) week at Little View in September and truly enjoyed it. The house is wonderful and quiet even though it is just off the road. Location is perfect for seeing the entire area and even excursions to the historic triangle. Jamestown is an easy reach for an afternoon of sightseeing. We had never been to the northern neck and found the people super friendly and helpful and the kayaking was great. My only problem with the house was even though there is a dock, getting a kayak in and out (and getting in and out of the kayak) was a little challenging. Just a word of warning to anyone expecting the Irvington you see on the websites...it's not that bustling and pretty much everything closes at 5PM. Dined at the Lancaster Inn which was amazing and had dinner at Lee's (great home cooking). Groceries, etc. are all close by. Loved this place!!!!
Our family of six enjoyed a short & sweet Labor Day weekend in this lovely & spacious home. It was clean and comfortable. We brought our jet skis (put them in a nearby public boat landing) and parked them at the dock during our stay. It was a beautiful ride from the end of the cove to the Rappahannock River & Chesapeake Bay. Fishing and crabbing from the pier was enjoyable, too. Quaint towns nearby. Liz was informative and a pleasure to communicate with!
This was our 2nd time staying here; enjoyed it just as much as the first time. So many amenities and everything provided for relaxing vacation on the rivah.
Lovely place, great location directly on the water. In the ideal town of Irvington. Perfect spot for exploring both the bay and towns. Owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Will be back:) Stayed with another couple, but the cottage could easily accommodate 3 couples, each with their own bathrooms!
Carter's Creek, close to the internationally known Tides Inn, empties into the Rappahannock River on the Chesapeake Bay. Explore this beautiful by land or water. Golf at any of the several excellant courses within 20 minutes. Learn about the rich history of this area where Mary Ball Washington (George Washington's mother) was born. Visit the local wineries or shop in nearby Kilmarnock and Irvington, or relax with a nearby spa. Whatever you do, get back in time to enjoy the sunset over the creek and your own private happy hour.
