Owner's Response: Hi Matthew! Peter here, sorry I didn't get to meet you guys, but Nicky emailed me and told me you were the perfect guests. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our place, there are a lot of places to choose from, so we are both grateful that you decided to stay at our little slice of heaven. Thank you for your great review and your visit. Peter∋cky

Nice View....When the Fog Clears

  • 3 of 5

Nice folks...Nikki greeted us and explained the property. Coffee and bottled water was provided. The well water had a sulphur odor, and the hot water capacity was not good. Ran out of hot water in the shower. Comfortable bed. The drive from the main road is steep, narrow, and winding. Sat TV was good, wi--fi was not. The connection was very spotty.

Owner's Response: Every now and then you get somebody that just have to complain about something. Fog? We can't really be expected to control the coastal climate. Also the road that connects us to hwy 101? If you want a view somehow you have to get higher up in elevation, hence the narrow winding road to get there. If you don't want to be in the country setting where there might be a little inconvinient to get to, then find a place in the city. You have complained about things we have zero control over. Think about that next time you are writing a review. Peter∋cky Oh and one more thing, You can't run out of hot water it's a "on demand" water heater fueled by propane. So thanks for the "bum"review. I think you just like to find something to be negative about. Ought to try to change that outlook on things in life

A wonderful week

  • 5 of 5

Peter and Nikki [ sp?] are great hosts. They walked us through the property and showed how everything works. After that we were on our own and private. It is a cute cottage: wood floors, nice shower, all the things one needs to cook--except an oven, not permitted for propane. Most of all, the view and the quiet will lure us back

The BEST getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this special spot to explore the area, and we are so happy we did. On arrival, Nicky was so friendly and helpful, making sure we were comfortable to start our stay. She went out of her way to show us around and get us settled. She invited us to wander and help ourselves to the apples to enjoy and share with Stuttgart. We had the best time enjoying the view, heading out to drive the coast and the Rogue River, and then returning to the quiet beauty of the guest house. We had a fantastic visit to the farmer's market, enjoyed meals in Brookings, and kept finding more and more beautiful beaches, spectacular views, and local features. The house was clean, well-stocked, and perfect for our visit. We look forward to returning for another stay to restore our spirits. Thanks to Nicky for her hospitality, welcoming charm, and always interesting conversation. We can't wait to return to Brookings!

Excellent place, wonderful host.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and two children stayed at this wonderful little cabin in July. We generally come up to the area at least once a year, and we were looking for a place to get away and relax. This was it.

I cannot express accurately how welcoming Nicky was to both ourselves and our children. They ran around the property with the dog (Jack, I believe) and fed the horse some fresh apples from the nearby fruit trees. Nicky even sent us a text one night to let us know that a herd of Elk that was passing through the yard. My children (both age 7) stared in wonder at about 20 passing elk less than a few feet away. It was an amazing experience. The place was exactly what we were looking for. It was quaint but well stocked, quiet but open and beautiful, and the hosts were attentive but never intrusive. Nicky even invited us up to her house to see the view, and allowed the children to wander pretty freely. They slept on a nice pullout couch, and we enjoyed the amazing mattress in the bedroom.

And the view! When we woke up, we could see the ocean through a sliding glass door looking out over the Oregon coast without leaving the bed. we sat on the deck and could watch what seemed like the entire world pass by underneath us. We picked blackberries off of the road leading up to the cabin and ate them for breakfast, while we sipped coffee and watched the fog roll out. It's located close to beaches, redwoods and rivers, and there's even a brewery at the bottom of the hill, which is a nice perk for vacationers.

All in all I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It's a beautiful place with gracious hosts and a very, very comfortable bed. Not much else you could ask for. We plan on booking it again next year when we visit.

A little slice of heaven with an ocean view

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay with Peter and Nicky. They offered my wife and I a very restful and beautiful experience. We enjoyed the shooting stars at night and watching the fog roll in on the ocean stretched out below us during the day. The accommodations were perfect. Thank you.

Brookings offers a variety of activities because of it's location on the Banana-belt of the Oregon coast the climate is very mild, my property is situated south of town which will show a lot less of the northwesterly winds that are relevant in the summer months. There are miles of hiking trails in the woods just outside my gate, wildlife is in abundance from deer, elk and variety of birds
