About Suzanne & Leo, owners/managers

We are 'new' residents of Vermont, relocated from Connecticut. We've enjoyed Southern Vermont for many years. We've 'retired' and live in Townshend.

Suzanne & Leo, owners/managers purchased this chalet in 2007

Why Suzanne & Leo, owners/managers chose Townshend

We purchased our Chalet for weekend getaways and vacations for ourselves and our children and grandchildren. We loved this little chalet at our first viewing, and we still do. It's a great house for a family vacation, but not too much for a couple.

What makes this chalet unique

The classic Bavarian ambiance of the chalet is what really got us hooked. Our heritage is German, and it has been a comfortable vacation home for our family. Our children still vacation here with friends!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Suzanne,

We just wanted to write a quick note to thank you for renting the chalet to us for the week. It's a beautiful place and we were warm, cozy and comfortable for the whole week. Thanks especially for the warm welcome the night of our arrival. Our 7.5 hour trip turned into 12 hours of bad traffic and terrible fog, so needless to say we were exhausted. But when we rounded the corner and saw the chalet with the lights on looking so cozy, we knew we were going to have a great week there. The mulled cider was the icing on the cake!

Thanks again for everything - wishing you the best in the new year!

With best regards,

Perfect and Homey

  • 5 of 5

House was very enjoyable and easily large enough for our group of 8. Very quiet yet close enough for skiing and town. If its rainy or snowy, 4x4 is a must (we got lucky that it was not!)

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

The chalet is cosy and the kids couldn't get of hide n seek with all the closets. What really makes it cosy is the intimate spaces and of course the fire. Add wine and popcorn and some snacks foods and life really felt complete. While some may want everything all open, I gotta say, being able to close doors and keep the kids' sounds dampened is a bonus. Everything you need including a deck of cards!

Great Weekend

  • 4 of 5

I stayed there in a group of 8 people over christmas weekend and had a lovely time. Suzanne and Leo were super easy to work with and made everything as smooth as possible. The house is a bit smaller in person than it appears in the picutres but have no fear it is definitely big enough and feels warm and cozy before long. One downside is that it is a little far from other things so be prepared to drive a bit 20-30 minutes if you want to go anywhere (bar, supermarket etc.O). However, if you are looking to stay in and enjoy yourself, this place is great. Just like up the fireplace and enjoy.

Family ski trip

  • 4 of 5

The chalet was a perfect place to stay for a ski vacation. Very convenient location to Rt. 30 as we were there in a snow storm. Plenty of room for my family and the chalet was very charming. Suzanne and Leo were very accommodating and quick to respond whenever we had any question. I would definitely recommend the chalet and would stay here again.

Weekend Getaway for good friends and family

  • 4 of 5

Suzanne and Leo's chalet was nice and very cozy, a charming house. Lots of character and the setting was secluded enough to give our group some privacy away from the main road. Suzanne the owner provided us with several recommendations as to the local stores and activities, in particular she told us about the local dam located in a state park that was merely a few miles away from the house where the locals go to do snow sledding. The place was a hit for our group specially the kids! The whole place was big with wide slopes and there was only another group of family there, it was like having a large private sledding trail, you could even go down on a snowboard with the slope being so wide and steep in some areas. Great recommendation Suzanne, that by itself made our trip fun thank you!

The house was a tri-level so there are some stairs to contend with but it's only 7-8 steps per flight and our group took to it without any problems, the upstairs bathroom/shower stall could use some updating but it's functioning and was kept clean by the homeowners. The house even had a nice fireplace with a bundle of firewood and a grill, overall the place was very good and everyone had a great time!

Thank you Suzanne and Leo!
