Comfortable and a good value

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was exactly as advertised, except for the fact that we were pleasantly surprised to find wifi despite the fact that the check-in instructions told us there was none!

It was very clean, warm. and well-furnished (it could use a few more plates in the kitchen, but that's a minor issue). The bathrooms were a bit basic, but again, very clean. I'll stay here again the next time I want to ski Crystal!

Cozy cabin a short drive from Crystal

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time during our stay. It was amazing to be able to ski all day and then return to a cozy house with a fireplace and a well-stocked kitchen. All of the bedrooms are comfortable and plenty warm. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect ski getaway.

Ski weekend

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was great...even better in person than the photos show. The beds were comfortable, plenty of linens for everyone, some basic supplies (coffee, tea, paper towels, dish soap, nand soap, tp, etc) were here when we arrived. The owner was responsive to my texts (before and at the end of our stay). It was a perfect place to stay for our ski weekend at Crystal Mtn. I would definitely recommend it!

Coziest cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The whole family is agreed: this is our favorite place to get away to. Close access to skiing, beautiful area in summer months, but there’s something special about this particular A-frame. We love its cozy, Scandinavian vibe. With two baths and plenty of sleeping options it’s large enough to accommodate everyone, but at the same time the living space is ideally set up to bring everyone back together for some good hangout time. We will be back!

Cabin in need of a little TLC.

  • 3 of 5

This little cabin is in need of some TLC. The layout is quaint and rustic but is a cute A-frame cabin with a surprising 3 bedrooms plus a loft for the kids accessed via ladder. It was clean, and the beds were comfortable and linens were all in good condition. There is a TV and WiFi which was nice to have. However, we arrived to a dark, ice cold house. With only a small gas fireplace and wall heaters in each room it took us almost 24 hours to heat the cabin. There were a few additional space heaters but that’s didn’t seem to help speed up the heating. It would have been nice for someone to turn on the heat and a few lights prior to our arrival. Almost all the dishes were dirty upon our arrival, most of the glasses/cups were cracked and most of the pots and pans and baking sheets were in such bad shape they were unusable and should be thrown away. There is no dishwasher and very limited counter space to set dry dishes. The carpet has been ripped and then duck-taped in several places. One of the wall heater units was broken and a couple lights were out in the house. The cabin is overdue for new carpets, and all new glasses and pots and pans and should also have baseboard trim repaired where it is falling down. Other than these issues it is a cute cabin with more space than you’d expect. There is no mud room but because of all the bedrooms we were able to keep all our ski stuff in one room and out of the way from foot traffic through the house.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the input, little over exaggerated! Power went out do to a wind story a day or two before arrival and after the cleaners were in. Cabin usually stays warm and cozy! Elk run -

Perfect hideaway for my family holiday traditions

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great, more space and sleeping capacity than anticipated. Cozy kitchen was small, but had everything you need. A great location, and overall a great place to just “checkout” for a week. Friendly exchanges with neighbors while out walking added to the charm. Herds of Elk were seen upon entering the area. All in all exactly what our family needed, a great, quiet getaway!

Location

Car: necessary

Located in the private Crystal River Ranch community, the Elk Run Chalet is approximately 25 minutes away from Crystal Mountain Ski Resort and the White River / Sunrise entrance to Mount Rainier. In the winter, Crystal is the premier mountain for skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, take the gondola up for a breathtaking view of Mount Rainier and a memorable meal at the Summit House Restaurant. Sunrise at Mount Rainier has great hiking and amazing scenery. Other outdoor areas to explore include Chinook and Cayuse Pass. For mountain bikers, a prime selection of advanced trails known as Skookum Flats, Suntop, Ranger Creek, Palisades, Corral Pass, and the Crystal Mountain Northway Trail are accessible in late Spring through Fall.

The Elk Run Chalet is also located just a few miles East of the town of Greenwater. Greenwater is worth a visit. Drop in at Wapiti Woolies for a Starbuck's coffee and peruse their racks of ski clothing and knitted hats. The Naches Tavern is the local's spot for a beer and a burger. The small general store is where you can pick up any small items you forgot to pack and has a gas station. Greenwater Skis hosts demos and great ski tuning.

Other seasonal activities in the area include mountain biking, hiking, golf 30 minutes away, scenic drives, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, frisbee golf, and snowmobiling.
