The guest house is just steps away to over 30 miles of bike and walking trails stretching along the American River from Folsom to Sacramento and looping around Lake Natoma. You can rent bikes or kayaks within walking distance and explore the quiet waters or hike the oak-lined trails around the lake. Watch for the bald eagles and other wild life along its shoreline. Riding is very popular in Folsom and riders of all abilities and levels have plenty to enjoy. The river trail system starts at Folsom Lake and continues to Sacramento along gentle and scenic riverside trails. More challenging trails include the foothills and wine country, as well as the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains for more extreme riders and jumpers. Folsom Lake offers sailing and boating, with boat ramps, camp grounds and picnic areas.
To explore outside of Folsom, light rail trains make frequent departures from Historic Folsom Station, just four blocks away. Sacramento is 22 miles and a relaxing 45 minutes away by train. Or spend a day exploring our local wine region just 45 minutes away in the spectacular unspoiled countryside of the Shenandoah Valley of Amador County.
We built our home in the Folsom Historic District in 2011. The Guest House apartment was designed for a daughter to occupy during college years and is now available for guests visiting the area.
Stephanie Caruso purchased this apartment in 2008
The property was newly built in 2011 so we could enjoy river and trail access and the many activities in the Folsom Historic District. We enjoy riding the trails around both Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma, as well as spending time kayaking nearby. With the Folsom Pro-Rodeo in July, the rock festival 'Folsom Live' in September and events throughout year, this central location is fun. Although we are in town, we enjoy easy proximity to the river and many restaurants.
We are in the historic area, walking distance from everything, including the light rail train station that connects Folsom to the larger Sacramento metro area. We enjoy living by the river, in a quiet area of Folsom; close to both great outdoor recreation and an entertainment district for convenient restaurants and pubs.
The stay in Folsom at this darling apartment was perfect. So clean, had everything and more one could ask for. Thank you so very much.
I came to visit friends and family. Having grown up on the American River and Folsom Lake, I wanted to be near the water. The cottage is 2 blocks from downtown Old Folsom. We went into every shop in town and purchased great gifts, clothing and knick-knacks. Both beds were amazingly comfortable, even the pullout sofa had a substantial mattress that was nothing like any other pullout I have slept on. The kitchen had all the dishes, cutlery, pots and pants in great condition. We loved the keurig coffee maker! All appliances were exceptionally clean and washer and dryer looked brand new. The bathroom amenities were modern and sparkling clean, and the towels were high quality. The whole cottage was clean and tastefully decorated with high quality linens, furniture and bedding. Truly like staying at your favorite aunt's house. We enjoyed the owner Stephanie meeting us with fresh cut roses from her garden. I wanted to take my roses home they smelled heavenly. I will definitely be back and will highly recommend to all my friends and family.
We have stayed at the Guest House three separate occasions over the past two and a half years. That should speak volumes. It is clean, comfortable, incredibly convenient, and with a lovely view. It's a short walk to charming old Folsom in one direction and the American River in another. The furnishings are all that one needs for a very pleasant stay, and the owner tends to any issues that arise quickly and thoroughly. We heartily recommend it.
Stephanie is an excellent host! Greeted us with fresh cut roses from her garden and oranges. The apartment is in a perfect location - quiet yet close to everything. Literally everything about the place is excellent and I would gladly stay again. Highly recommended!
The Guest House is easy walking distance to old Folsom shops and restaurants, the American River walking and biking, and very comfortable. My wife and I stayed there for 5 weeks in the fall of 2014, two weeks in late October/early November of 2015, and have plans to return for and additional couple of weeks in the Spring of 2016. It is well appointed and supplied, and Stephanie, the owner, is helpful and accommodating. We look forward to our next visit, and recommend it to others.
My wife were in Folsom at the end of last month and needed a space where we could get away from the hustle and bustle of Sutter Street and our hectic schedule. Stephanie provides the perfect spot with her Treetop hideaway. We were close enough to walk to everything, but could easily come back to the house to relax as we needed. The figs were as additional treat! Stephanie was the perfect host, very accommodating and exactly what we had hoped to find. Needless to say, this will be the only place we'll stay when back in the area!
