Renee redid this old cottage shortly before their main house up the road went through a major renovation which lasted two years. Both Steve and Renee loved their time in the cottage where they often entertained lots of family and friends yet on cold winter mornings looked forward to coffee and breakfast sitting next to the kitchen fire. The cottage was rented for several years and then accommodated extra weekend guests. Renee decided to rent the cottage on a weekly basis when requests for Kinderhook FarmStay indicated that a lot of people might enjoy a farm stay year round and that the cottage could include more people in the farm experience.

placid, pastoral delight!
Our 3 nights at the cottage were wonderful! Furnishings were comfortable, we were fortunate in having perfect spring weather so could have windows open. Time in the hammock & on the back porch was like a healing balm! The kitchen was as nicely stocked as anyplace we've ever stayed, though time and other interests locally didn't allow for as much 'eating in' as we would have liked. Definitely, you should check out the Kinderhook Farm Store for some eggs and sausage, those were amazing! One heads up: as 'older folks', we had to adjust ourselves to bathroom on lower floor, while the 2 main bedrooms are upstairs, but it was manageable. But that was small sacrifice, compared to the overall charm of the cottage!
Beautiful house, lovely location. Exactly what we needed. We’ll definitely be back!
Lovely cozy cottage
My husband, 1 year old daughter, and dog really enjoyed our winter weekend here! The cottage came well equipped for corralling a baby newly on the move. The rooms and overall decor were tastefully understated, and the kitchen easy to get cooking in. Thanks for a terrific weekend!
Lovely old farmhouse. One bathroom on the first floor away from the bedrooms was the only problem.
Beautiful, Relaxing, and Engaging
We couldn't be happier with our stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated, and clean; there were even fresh flowers on the kitchen table when we arrived. Everything within the cottage is lovely quality, unlike what you'd expect to find in most house rentals. From cookware to tableware, bedding and linens, everything was good quality and beautiful. Being on the farm was a special experience; one morning we woke up to the cows grazing just outside our window. The farm tour was fun for the whole family; we enjoyed learning about how the farm allows the animals to live their lives following their natural instincts, and were even given an opportunity to pet some friendly pigs. We enjoyed the freshest meat and eggs from the farm store, as well as baked goods from another local farm just down the road. Overall, the cottage was very private. Our dogs loved running free in the yard , and our kids loved making s'mores over the fire pit and laying on the hammock. We were looking to stay near Hudson, where we enjoy many amazing restaurants, but this farm cottage holds up on its own. We will definitely be back.
We spent a relaxing week with our 6 year old daughter. She had lots of fun with the swing and fishing at the pond. The property is very private, with only the cows looking at us, after they eat part of the bushes on the fence. At night we could see the Milky Way on a moonless night. We visited the farm several times and the people there were very kind and patient. The restaurants nearby are amazing.
