|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
The house has a private master bedroom & bath en suite on upper level with balcony overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea & Pitons. The main floor has 2 bedrooms both en suite with one having queen sized bed and the study having a single day bed.
The villa has many communal areas including a large living room & dining room that open up to the outdoors and large deck all with amazing views of the Caribbean Sea and the Pitons. There is a kitchen with attached small sitting area that has cable TV. There are other sitting areas including a private covered deck in the garden and a nice bathing deck by the pool as well as a outdoor cooking area. WIFI is available at Hermitage Jewel.
Private, very romantic, quite, spectacular view, fabulous house, near two very good restaurants and bars, with entertainment. near beach, near town, cooler temps because of high elevation. We also offer a local complimentary breakfast, of fresh seasonal fruit, local coffee, tea, bread, jam/jelly, and butter, all prepared and served by , your housekeeper, 6 days a week.
Just returned from a great week at Hermitage Jewel and while the Villa is great, my review is on the staff. Thank you Dian, Glenda and Neverweary for a fantastic week. We have stayed at several 5 star resorts and hotels and have never received the level of service you three provided. Let's face it there are a lot of great VRBO's that are nice and have great views, but you would be hard pressed to find one with your own personal driver and tour guide (obviously for a fee but worth every penny) Neverweary might be the hardest working guy in St Lucia and the most knowledgeable about the island and the fruits and plants on it. He's an absolute joy to be around and a hell of a singer, gotta go watch his band play.
Waking up every morning knowing Glenda would be there to cook breakfast was a real treat. She always came with fresh juice and or coco (right out of the yard) and different fruits every day. She was always happy to help in any way she could.
Dian is excellent at managing the villa. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. She greeted us with one of the best Rum punches I've had. She can take care of any excursions, Dinner reservations or probably anything else you desire and at a cheaper rate than most. She's from the states but has been in St. Lucia for 40 years, so she knows all the best places.
If and when we ever decide to visit St. Lucia again I would not stay anywhere else, as long as I received the same level of service. Oh and yes the pictures don't do the view justice. Waking up every morning with that view was amazing!
We've been going to Castries since 2003, but this was our first time staying near Soufriere. The only way to describe the beauty of the place is words like Paradise or Shangra-La. The views are breathtaking, and the property is loaded with colorful plants, flowers, fruit trees, and just amazing foliage. Totally private, bedrooms with the looking out between the Pitons and the ocean. There aren't many views anywhere that are better than this one. The villa is charmingly rustic, and my favorite place to hang out was the patio, surrounded by stonework walls and again, with the incredible view to the ocean.
Dian was extremely helpful before, during and after our visit. We had accidentally left some jewelry after our stay was over, and not even knowing at the time it was missing, we received a call from Dian letting us know about it. She even arranged for it to be returned to us on the other side of the island.
She also has an amazing amount of knowledge that is really useful to tourists. For example, she told us which mineral baths to ask for when we went to the Botanical Gardens. Most tourists would never know to ask. She will help you as much or as little as you need.
Glenda is the housekeeper, and she prepares bread/jam, different fruits and juices every day. We purchased eggs and stuff for omelettes, and Glenda made us breakfast most days. Like Dian, we can't say enough about her.
NeverWeary is a really cool Rasta guy who is taxi driver and maintenance guy for the villa. His taxi prices are very reasonable, and he's a great guy too.
There is a pool guy and gardener, and both were pleasant and provided great service. They have snorkeling equipment, beach towels, there is cable TV but the place is really not set up to watch TV. Bring your own I-pod player or music box. We had Dian arrange for a massuese to come to the house and provide massages....and we had them in the outside cabana next to the pool...excellent. By the way, the view of the mountains/ocean from the pool is just as unbelievable as mentioned earlier. This is a great place for adults, especially honeymooners or maybe 2 couples, or a family that wants to share a vacation together.
Words and thorough descriptions can not do this place justice. My wife and I just spent a week at the villa and had the most amazing trip. We had the best experience in large part to the wonderful staff at the villa. Dian, the manager, was so pleasant and wonderful to work with. She was prompt when getting back to us with questions prior to the trip starting. When we arrived, she was there waiting for us to welcome us to the villa as well. She was also so generous in planning excursions, making reservations, and going above and beyond to make sure we were having a great trip.
Glenda, the house maid/cook, was incredible. I don't know if there is a nicer person. She was there every morning with a smile on her face. The breakfasts she created were out of this world. Our breakfasts were filled with amazing fruits, breads, cheeses, jellies, and so much more. Also, she did a great job at making the villa clean and tidy on a daily basis. We felt like we were in a 5 star hotel.
Last, but not least, was the incredible driver, Never Weary. Never Weary was with us almost everyday driving us to and from and being our phenominal tour guide. Because of him, we felt like we truly got a local St. Lucian experience and vacation. He showed us the sites, told us countless stories, and just gave us an experience we will never forget. Also, we were able to see his band play twice. They were so much fun to watch.
Staying at this villa was truly like staying in a hotel. There were all of the people there to help and the amenities that one would need, but at a fraction of the cost and were able to offer a great local experience. Not too mention, you are secluded and everything is so private. There is no question in our mind that this was the best place to stay on the island. We will absolutely come back again for another stay.
I could begin by talking about the villa, views, location and our excursions; however, I want to talk about the experience with the wonderful staff who we now consider our friends. First is Dian. She is such a kind caring and compassionate human being who's main concern is ensuring her guests have the best tailor made experience especially for them. All you need to do is tell her what you want and she will do everything in her power to make it happen for you. She is a WEALTH of knowledge and loves her island. She knows everyone and everyone knows and loves Dian. On a personal note, she loves all the creatures great and small and works hard for the animals on this island. Never Weary is your Rastafarian driver and personal tour guide. He will teach you so much about the island and all of its natural and healing properties. He lives life in accordance with nature and has such an appreciation for life! 'Yah-Mon'! Do not hesitate to ask him to take you anywhere you want to go or to be your guide on a self made excursion. No need to schedule excursions in advance, have and idea and let Dian and Never Weary work out the details. Glenda has a smile that brightens any room she is in. She comes daily to create a delicious breakfast and clean your rooms. We were excited each morning to see the breakfast presentation of new foods and juices! We call her our breakfast queen!! Eddie I don't know so well other than the view of the grounds and pool! He does a fabulous job!! My daughter wanted to go to a street party at Gros Islet, Dian arranged for Captain Dan to take us. Not only did he provide a fun boat ride, but stayed with us the entire time. We never had to look far to see that Captain Dan had us in his sights. The Villa is beautiful and THOSE VIEWS, but this was much more about the people who made our trip one of the best in a lifetime! What a wonderful place to spend our first married week of life! From start to finish the villa staff ensured everything was perfect. From arranging the excursions we wanted to enjoy to planning where we would eat each meal, the staff arranged everything. All we had to do was be ready to go! Upon arrival, our driver NeverWeary who we used the entire week, picked us up at the airport and was the perfect tour guide as we made our way to the villa. Dian, the property manager, was there to greet us upon arrival with a fruit drink and a fabulous local meal delivered directly to the villa so we could relax and take in the sunset in romantic serenity. We were provided with a cell phone for use during our stay so we could call Dian or NeverWeary at any time. The house keeper Glenda, came by every morning at the time of our choosing to prepare an excellent island breakfast of fruits, juices, coffee, teas, breads, and jams and to clean up after us. We really enjoyed snorkeling using the gear provided by the villa. Anse Mamin was by far our favorite because it is very secluded and we loved the natural volcanic black sand. Have NeverWeary run you by the store to buy beers on the way to the beach. We hiked the Gros Piton and it is quite an exhaustive journey but well worth the views from the top. I would not suggest the hike unless you are in really good physical condition. We also enjoyed soaking in the mineral baths and walking from the villa to the volcano to soak in the sulphur springs. One evening Dian arranged for a private sunset boat ride which was very romantic. I believe our 2 favorite days were spent lounging all day at the villa. The views from the villa are nothing short of spectacular and the beautiful flowers surrounding the property provide for excellent bird watching. Each morning we would put out a banana for the birds and watch them enjoy breakfast as we enjoyed ours. During the middle of the day the crisp waters of the pool felt like paradise under the tropical sun. We also enjoyed a private massage at the villa! The open air nature of the villa was very romantic and it is secluded from surrounding properties. We loved falling asleep each night listening to the sounds of insects, birds, and rustling palm leaves. All of the staff went out of their way to make sure it was a memorable and perfect holiday.
Every review we read on these pages led us to expect a fabulous vacation. But everything we read was an understatement! From our first evening meal, catered by Chef Andy, to our sad drive back to the airport with Neverweary, we could not have imagined a more perfect escape.
We chose to get married in St. Lucia because it was about the only island left that neither of us had visited. Our priorities were privacy, local flavor and romance, as opposed to the action, nightlife and alcohol promised by the big resorts. And Hermitage Jewel exceeded our expectations in every way -- for a lot less than Sandals, by the way.
Other reviews do a good job describing the accommodations, the amazing breakfasts, the birds, the pool, the garden and the views (though no picture captures the feeling of awe as you first see the Pitons from your bedroom balcony). But the thing that differentiates Hermitage Jewel is personal service: the staff. Dian, Glenda and Neverweary not only anticipated and met our every need, they also became friends, served as our wedding attendants and joined us for our wedding night dinner at Ladera -- where Neverweary's band "Future Lights" was playing.
We came with a big list of things to do in St. Lucia. But as we sat on the deck looking at the Pitons with the Caribbean in the background, we decided to forego the activities we can do elsewhere or at home. Yes, we probably would have enjoyed the zip line, catamaran cruise and nature walks, etc., but we can do them later. We ended up only visiting the botanical gardens, soaking in the mineral springs, playing in the mud baths in the volcano and snorkeling from Sugar Beach, all of which we wholeheartedly endorse. With Neverweary as our personal tour guide, I imagine the cruise ship tourists were jealous of our VIP treatment. But our favorite activities were watching the sunset while lying on the bed, trying to photograph a hummingbird by the pool, laughing at the birds & lizards fighting over a banana on the deck, shooing the chicken from the kitchen … :-)
We will never replicate our Hermitage Jewel experience, and can’t wait to return.
The Hermitage Jewel villa is located within the property of the UNESCO World Heritage Site recognizing the beauty of the world famous mountains, Gros & Petit Piton. We look over the roof tops of the Ladera Resort. The house has a stunning view from the front of miles of Caribbean Sea and Piton mountains and behind the villa is a view of the tropical rain forest. The property is lush with flowers and fruit trees and there are lots of hummingbirds feasting on the abundance of floral nectar. Sunrise can bring a luminous rainbow and sunsets are brilliant and worthy of an evening toast.
It is a perfect destination for newly weds.
There are some of the finest resorts, restaurants and spas on the island within close proximity.
