About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom With Huge Screened Porch With Park View

Country charm is the feel of this delightful cottage that is in the city but feels like country. This cottage called 'Mulberry' is tastefully and comfortably decorated to give it a casual country feel. Along with its sister cottage 'Maple' (vrbo #162157), and Magnolia (vrbo #323881), this cozy guest cottage, surrounded by forest, is on the north side of Tallahassee on the beautifully Canopied Meridian Rd adjacent to Alfred B MaClay State Park and Lake Overstreet Trails. Across the street is Forest Meadows Athletic centre with Tennis courts and swimming pool (open summers). Enjoy the melody of birds, crickets and cicadas throughout the day and see the deer in the morning and evening from the back porches furnished for a perfect meal in the fresh air.

Tallahassee is the State Capital of Florida and has the downtown Capital Buildings just 7 miles away, as well as governor's's mansion, museums, and Imax theatres. Shopping and airport close by. Antique shopping is available in the quaint towns of Havana, Monticello, and Quincy(20-30 mile drive).

Check out the beautiful southern plantations on the way to Thomasville, Georgia only 30 miles away. Just 20 miles to Wakulla Springs State Park and 60 miles from the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Lake Jackson is just 3 miles away.

About Diane Roorda

The owner has an interesting story in that she was born in the Netherlands, grew up in Canada and has lived in Tallahassee for the last 35 years where her children grew up. The Dutch background spells the importance of cleanliness; the Canadian background spells the gift of hospitality; and the south spells relaxed and casual. So the 3 C's: cleanliness, comfortable and cozy best describes what you will find in each of the 3 M's: Mulberry, Magnolia and Maple cottages. The owner has made lots of good memories on this 3 acre property. We stay here to celebrate various holidays with our 10 grandchildren. The space outside has room for outdoor games and cookouts and the cottages are comfortable and cozy. We have been privileged to travel and spend many months away from home and feel we know from experience what will make a guesthouse comfortable.

Diane Roorda purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Diane Roorda chose Rosehill

This property is in the beautiful north side of Tallahassee surrounded by almost 1000 acres of forest with hiking trails. There are 3 cottages together on this 3 acres which make it convenient for large groups such as weddings and family reunions.

This property provides a place for me to enjoy my gardening hobby. I have planted many flowers, shrubs, fruit trees so that there is something blooming and something to eat year round. During the winter the oranges are delicious and a great way to start the morning. In addition there are lemons, kumquats, figs, loquats, persimmons and even some blackberries and mulberries growing.

The camellias are growing and will start flowering in December so there is plenty to see and enjoy.

What makes this cottage unique

The large porch on this cottage makes it a great place to gather or eat.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for a wonderful stay. We had family in from Kentucky and North Carolina and could not host everybody in our little apartment. Being able to have homemade meals and enjoy them around the table together was a wonderful Christmas treat. We played bocci and basketball and enjoyed hiking in the park. Our little boy loved playing in the yard and on the rocking horse

Absolutely gorgeous! Diane does a great job taking care of her property!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for our girls trip. We were able to use the fire pit because the weather was cold at night. Diane is a great host. She met us at the property to check in and give us a tour. The house is nice and clean. There were 6 of us and more than enough space! The location is great, it's secluded and private but not too far away from town. I would recommend any of the three rentals she has on the property, especially if you have kids, as there is ample space to run and roam.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your visit and the facilities. Spring is the perfect time of year as the days are warm and the nights are cool so that you can enjoy the outdoors and a fire in the evenings. Being right in town makes this a convenient location for visits to Tallahassee Hope to see you again

Wonderful Graduation Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a house to rent while in Tallahassee for our daughter's graduation. We wanted to have a location where we could gather with family to celebrate after the commencement. Your house provided the perfect setting to gather with family and away from all the traffic and craziness. We had a lovely time here. It was very peaceful and restful. Thank you from Robert & Silvia.

Ms. Roorda is a most gracious host. The place itself is spotless and sits back from the road, making for a quiet stay.

Tidy and quiet...

  • 4 of 5

The Mulberry Cottage was immaculately clean. Very quiet, too. A solid alternative to the many non-descript chain hotels that seem to predominate in town.

The property is close to a beautiful park and a rec center with nice swimming and tennis available in season.

I would recommend the cottages to an family party looking for a base camp for weddings and other events of that nature.
