Country charm is the feel of this delightful cottage that is in the city but feels like country. This cottage called 'Mulberry' is tastefully and comfortably decorated to give it a casual country feel. Along with its sister cottage 'Maple' (vrbo #162157), and Magnolia (vrbo #323881), this cozy guest cottage, surrounded by forest, is on the north side of Tallahassee on the beautifully Canopied Meridian Rd adjacent to Alfred B MaClay State Park and Lake Overstreet Trails. Across the street is Forest Meadows Athletic centre with Tennis courts and swimming pool (open summers). Enjoy the melody of birds, crickets and cicadas throughout the day and see the deer in the morning and evening from the back porches furnished for a perfect meal in the fresh air.
Tallahassee is the State Capital of Florida and has the downtown Capital Buildings just 7 miles away, as well as governor's's mansion, museums, and Imax theatres. Shopping and airport close by. Antique shopping is available in the quaint towns of Havana, Monticello, and Quincy(20-30 mile drive).
Check out the beautiful southern plantations on the way to Thomasville, Georgia only 30 miles away. Just 20 miles to Wakulla Springs State Park and 60 miles from the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Lake Jackson is just 3 miles away.
The owner has an interesting story in that she was born in the Netherlands, grew up in Canada and has lived in Tallahassee for the last 35 years where her children grew up. The Dutch background spells the importance of cleanliness; the Canadian background spells the gift of hospitality; and the south spells relaxed and casual. So the 3 C's: cleanliness, comfortable and cozy best describes what you will find in each of the 3 M's: Mulberry, Magnolia and Maple cottages. The owner has made lots of good memories on this 3 acre property. We stay here to celebrate various holidays with our 10 grandchildren. The space outside has room for outdoor games and cookouts and the cottages are comfortable and cozy. We have been privileged to travel and spend many months away from home and feel we know from experience what will make a guesthouse comfortable.
Diane Roorda purchased this cottage in 2006
This property is in the beautiful north side of Tallahassee surrounded by almost 1000 acres of forest with hiking trails. There are 3 cottages together on this 3 acres which make it convenient for large groups such as weddings and family reunions.
This property provides a place for me to enjoy my gardening hobby. I have planted many flowers, shrubs, fruit trees so that there is something blooming and something to eat year round. During the winter the oranges are delicious and a great way to start the morning. In addition there are lemons, kumquats, figs, loquats, persimmons and even some blackberries and mulberries growing.
The camellias are growing and will start flowering in December so there is plenty to see and enjoy.
The large porch on this cottage makes it a great place to gather or eat.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. We had family in from Kentucky and North Carolina and could not host everybody in our little apartment. Being able to have homemade meals and enjoy them around the table together was a wonderful Christmas treat. We played bocci and basketball and enjoyed hiking in the park. Our little boy loved playing in the yard and on the rocking horse
Great property, clean and well-furnished. Couldn't have asked for a better "home" for our week long stay.
Had everything we needed. The property is beautiful and a great location.
We really enjoyed our visit. The cottage is very spacious and sits on beautiful open property. Owners are a delight, we could have talked the night away with them.
Our family rented this adorable house, along with the two other houses on this beautiful, wooded, 3-acre property in order for our extended family to be together for our youngest daughter's wedding. The house is absolutely immaculate & shows that the property owner gave much thought as to how to make the home comfortable & cozy for guests. My husband & I have a VRBO property in another state, and when looking for a family gathering-place for such a special event, cleanliness & the property owner were top priorities for us. Diane is wonderful to work with and just a genuinely really nice person. My older daughter, husband & their two children would love to live in a house like this in their home state. Their young children had such fun being able to run outside on the big, grassy area, climb the huge tree & run over to the other houses to play with the cousins. The parents appreciated the convenience & savings of being able to have breakfasts & lunches in "their home." We would all love to go back!
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. We were impressed the moment we saw the property, it's truly spectacular. Diane, the owner, was very kind and accommodating and made us feel right at home. We would recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in Tallahassee but also needing a quiet retreat from the city when it's time to relax.
This was a home away from home. Very clean, peaceful & had everything we needed. Lovely grounds to walk around. Loved the screened porch. Good, fresh linens, plenty of good towels, kitchen bigger than it looks in photo. Good water pressure. The property feels secluded but it's really not. You're just minutes from everything you need including Wal-Mart, Target, restaurants, etc. Dianne is very nice & I enjoyed talking with her. Really enjoyed our stay & will definitely be back! Thank you, Diane!
We reserved this property while we were in town for our daughter's wedding at MacClay Gardens. This was the perfect location!! We were 5 minutes from the park and were able to finish all the last minute details from the comfort of this cottage. The cottage is beautifully appointed and very comfortable! There were 3 adults and 3 children staying in this 3 bed 2 bath cottage. We had plenty of room and didn't feel like we were tripping over each other as we would have if we had chosen a hotel. The screened in porch was a great place to relax in the evenings and my grandkids especially enjoyed watching the lizards that came in the porch. The owner was very friendly and always available to answer any questions we had.We will definitely be staying here again when we visit our daughter and son in law!!
