About the property

Our Beach House Is Truly A Gem, Family Owned Since 1965

Our home is permitted by the County of Maui #STMO2013/0009. The house can accommodate 6 people including children with 3 large bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

We have 3 bedrooms, two with Queen beds and 1 bedroom has a Cal King also a relaxing Day Bed in the screened in Lanai. Our kitchen is completely equipped. The house has two stories and over looks the beach as well as, one of the largest ancient Hawaiian fishponds in Hawaii. The beach is protected by the longest barrier reef in Hawaii. At low tide you can walk around the fishpond and take in the views of Kupeke Valley, Lanai, Maui and the eastern shoreline. The Kiteboarding and Standup Paddling is amazing right out in front of the house. This setting of real Hawaii will put you in relax mode where you can just forget about 'LIFE' . We have an library of Hawaiian books as well as some novels for our guest to enjoy, also fun boardgames and cards. A beautiful Yoga retreat is located a half mile away. The food counter with a small store is 3 minutes from the house in Pukoo. We love to fill up a large basket of healthy produce at Kumu Farms near the airport. In Kaunakakai town, the best coconut cake is at Molokai Wines and Spirits. Groceries can be picked up at Friendly Market or Misakis and on Saturday is a Farmer Market in town. Check out our friend Lono, for local entertainment as well as the Kaupunas Kanikapila on Friday late afternoon at the Hotel Molokai. We provided a gas grill at the Beach House for our guests to use. For young kids the beach has always been an adventure to checking out sand crabs and see small fish in the rocks. You might get lucky and see the Auku'u( Black-crowned Night Heron). The beach is mostly a sand bottom allowing shallow swimming for kids. The lower level bedroom is perfect for an older couple just footsteps to the ocean and beach.

We hope you enjoy our beach house as much as our family has for 3 generations now. Just turn on the Hawaiian Music and kick back and Relax...Life's Truly a Beach here.

About Debbie and Jeff

I was born on Molokai along with my sister and brother back in the hay day of pineapple on the island. Our parents moved to Molokai from Maui in 1953. We lived in Maunaloa on the West Side of the island and we would go out to Kupeke on the weekends. It pretty much was a campsite with the original beach shack that Dad built for his boat.

We enjoyed the beautiful tropical East End(so lucky) and had many an adventure exploring the Pond and the Valley. The Food on these outings always tasted so good as it still does today. We built the Kupeke Beach House in 1997 and have enjoyed it ever since. My parents ended up retiring on the east end. They built a home in the valley across the street from the Beach. Mom lives there now. she loves to walk her dogs on the Beach. Recently we have offered the Property for an exclusive short term rental and have permitted it with Maui County. We have Alexa (my sister) overseeing the Beach house for our guests.

Debbie and Jeff purchased this house in 1965

Why Debbie and Jeff chose Kaunakakai

We just love the privacy and the setting of our property, right on a white sand beach. The Beach House is very comfortable and has beautiful views of the pond, beach, Maui and the Eastern coastline.

What makes this house unique

We have Tommy Bahama quilts and a Bengali India handmade bed cover for the Master Bedroom. The bedding is 400 count Egyptian Cotton. We have white Spa towels for the bathrooms. We have Beach Towels for the outside beach use. A Gas Grill is provided for barbecuing.

The kitchen has a gas range and oven along with a dishwasher, coffee grinder and maker, an ice maker, toaster, blender and wooden Hawaiian bowls. We have a Television with cable and WiFi as well as some Hawaiian CD s and other DVDs.The house is decorated in a Beach Hawaiian style unique to Molokai.

The decor is uniquely Hawaiian, Beach, Molokai with Hawaiian quilt accent pillows, hanging netted glass balls and a Molokai Axis deer chandelier in the screened porch area.

Lovely secluded Molokai paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was such a great spot to relax and explore Molokai from! Debbie's home was spacious and absolutely perfect for beach relaxation, games, cooking and grilling, and getting to know the island better. It's a short 10 minute drive from town center to pick up any supplies. We explored all the different sides of the island easily. We had an entire beach to ourselves to swim, play bocce ball, and sunbathe. There were multiple dining tables so we could choose if we wanted to eat beachside, on the screened porch, or a table on the bottom patio by the grill. I must admit, I was a bit worried about lack of ac since I'm accustomed to that in life, and like to sleep in cool temperatures. But with the ocean breeze and fans, I wasn't too warm any of the nights. Debbie was super sweet and welcomed us the day of arrival. We were swimming a ways out, and she actually came out to where we were swimming to say hi and chat. If that's not the aloha spirit, I don't know what is! She answered questions and gave us tips of where to explore. Great property and spot to experience Molokai!! Thanks Debbie!

A little bit of paradise...

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Kupeke Beach House & our week long stay. The home was lovely, the caretaker and the owners checked in and made sure we were comfy-- all was well. We LOVED the peace and quiet. We spent every evening on the little patio by the water, watching the crabs toddle down the beach, the waves lapping, and the sunset. Our room was clean as a whistle, the shower was lovely, the kitchen and the lanai were great. I spent an entire afternoon reading (ok, maybe napping, too) and listening to the coconuts plop. Boy, I needed that. My husband fished every single day. He caught nothing but had the time of his life.

If you need some time away from the hustle and bustle, Molokai is THE place. If you need peace and quiet, and the beach a few steps away, Kupeke Beach House is the place to go.

Mahalo to the homeowners/caretakers.

This property is in a lovely, secluded spot. The house is roomy with beautiful views.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the house and grounds. Quiet and private, listening to the waves and breeze in the palm trees. Our favorite spot was the seating area right down by the beach. Always a breeze, saw whales, and the crabs were delightful.

We did have a couple of suggestions. The lighting in the living room is just not adequate, only two dimmish lamps. And the front bedroom doesn't work for two people who like to read in bed. And we missed having a table and chairs on the front porch.

Over all, we totally enjoyed our stay. And loved the island. And loved

Goods and Grindz.

Wonderful get away for us all!

  • 5 of 5

It is such a wonderful thing to book at a place where every detail is exactly as described and portrayed. My husband, his sister, my mom and myself were very pleased with the home, it's location and all of the amenities there. We absolutely loved walking on the beach and out into the water, which was for a long way off! There is a relaxing vibe to the island and staying at Debbie and Jeff's home was just the absolute best! I cannot say enough good things about it. One additional note...when we found that we would be landing at Molokai later than we expected and were at the Maui airport waiting, Debbie offered for us to come to her home in Maui to stay until the next day. That was so nice of her! (we did end up getting to Molokai late, but what a generous offer!)

Helen came over and left us some of the tastiest limes I have ever had!! We were in and out of the house quite a bit so we didn't get to really see her much, but she was always available, which is great!

Mahalo Debbie, Jeff and Helen!!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have you stay at our beach house.I am so glad you enjoyed your time on Molokai and at the house. I am sorry that the Mule Ride was booked up for 3 weeks but it sounds like you got there by plane instead. I am also glad that you got your rental car after all with the flight being so late due to weather. Much Aloha and Mahalo!

Fantastic beach house, clean, quiet, awesome views

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six stayed in the beach house from 12/25/16 to 1/1/17, ages 28 - 59. It is in a beautiful location, right on a secluded beach, with views of both Maui and Lanai. Very quiet, which is what we wanted and exceptionally clean, which was also very desirable. Has all of the amenities - pots, pans, etc, internet. All three sleeping areas have their own bathroom, which we also liked a lot. Debbie, the owner, was very helpful and friendly - she called twice to make sure things were going well. Her mother, Helen, lives nearby and stopped by also occasionally and was very helpful and friendly.

We did see some whales breaching off in the distance, watching from the house. The swimming is nice in front of the house but 20 Mile Beach (about 3.5 miles down the road) has better snorkeling. There is a small store about a mile away that has some groceries and sandwiches but the main town and shopping is 16 miles away so make sure you pick up some groceries before heading to the house when you first arrive. We did the hike down to the Leper colony, which is now a National Monument, which was challenging coming back up but well worth it. Make sure to call Damien Tours to reserve tickets to the bus tour before heading down - or else your walk may be in vain! Keep in mind that Damien Tours answers their phone only during certain hours (I think it's 7-10 am and then 12-2pm) so if they don't answer, call back. The owner of Damien Tours will probably be the one answering the phone and she lives in the Leper colony. She's very interesting to talk to when you get down there. You can also fly down to the colony if walking is too strenuous.

Saw a monk seal on the beach on the south side of the island, near where the old resort ruins are. Ate at Hotel Molokai a couple of times, which was very good. Also, on most nights there is hot bread available to buy behind the bakery - a nice treat. Went whale watching with the Dive Shop in town one morning - saw several whales -staff very friendly and goes out of their way to make the trip enjoyable. Overall, a great stay - laid back and very relaxing!!
