Royal Eccles Estate, Modernized National Landmark in Ogden
Welcome to an uncommon Ogden vacation rental retreat.
The Royal Eccles Estate is a 5-bedroom, 5-bath, 5,000 square foot home in the heart of Ogden, Utah. Built in 1920 and fully modernized in 2013, The Estate is historic without a single sign of wear-and-tear. And you have our “no doily” guarantee!
Instead, we have added every contemporary convenience imaginable. A fully stocked luxury kitchen with black granite counters and stainless steel appliances. SmartTVs (with Netflix) in the bedrooms and the common areas. Whole-house WiFi that can support up to 50 devices at the same time. Private outdoor hot tub for up to 8 people.
You’d never guess this home is a National Historic Landmark getting ready to celebrate its 100th birthday…until you look closer and spot the impeccable craftsmanship and details like original hardwood floors, ornate tile work, fireplaces and more.
Enjoy a spectacular setting for your big family reunion, or a ski getaway with your friends and their families. We have five bedrooms and five baths and room for up to 25 people.
There are 5 bedrooms, each with either a queen or a king bed with additional sofa beds and bunk beds. Upon receipt of your inquiry, a document will be emailed to you describing the exact breakdown of the number of beds and corresponding locations for your precise planning.
Our beds are worth special mention: We took of care to make them like your own personal cloud with 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and deluxe comforters.
With a lovely living room and casual game/cinema room with a pool table, football, Ping Pong and bar area, the Estate gives your large group room to spread out. The kids will probably want to spend their time downstairs in the game room. Meanwhile, adults can relax and socialize in their own space in the living/dining roomwatch and chat on the luxurious leather sofa and the 8-person dining table.
Or head outside for a memorable outdoor gathering. We sit on a tree-shaded lot just shy of one acre, with generous mountain-views, meticulous landscaping, and plenty of dining and lounge furniture for up to 18 people.
A BBQ grill awaits your burgers. And, of course, the 8 person hot tub is a luxurious treat.
Need to switch gears and work a bit? Not a problem. The Estate offers a separate office area away from these common spaces, with a desk and printer/scanner/copier.
Ogden is a Utah mountain town on the rise. Once a railroad hub at the confluence of the east and west for the Trans-Continental Railroad, Ogden was as essential to American transportation as Boston or San Francisco. After a period of post-railroad decline, Ogden is becoming a new Utah destination 40 minutes from Salt Lake City and an hour from Park City.
Ogden is also near 3 ski resorts (Powder Mountain, Nordic Valley and Snowbasin), Pineview Reservoir, tons of climbing, fly fishing, and mountain biking. Great options for fine dining and shopping on historic 25th St., and more. We can’t wait to see where Ogden goes next.

I'm a technology consultant that enjoys creating spaces which have the beauty of the old with the conveniences of the new.
Gray Davis purchased this house in 2013
This property is absolutely gorgeous with its location, accessibility, and extremely comfortable layout. The historical craftsmanship and character is impressive. I fell in love with it and I've modernized it to mix the historic character and the conveniences of the 21st century.
This property is almost 100 years old, but it doesn't feel like it; however, the original newly refinished hardwood floors, the doors, the trim the windows all speak of a level of craftsmanship long forgotten. Large bedrooms with high ceilings and the beauty of space elegantly adorns this house. Its proximity to the restaurants and bars downtown and its quick access to Snowbasin and Powder Mountain make it the best of both worlds!
The house was a great place to stay for the few days we were in Ogden. It is very close to a number of ski resorts and also just a few blocks from a large selection of restaurants. The downstairs of the home which houses the pool table, foosball table and ping pong table was exceptional.
We enjoyed this historic home - the downstairs game room and hot tub were favorites along with the number of beds. The home has a natural charm, including a few creaky floors - but has been updated enough to create a wonderful get-a-way. The Master Bathroom has an overhead shower that everyone took turns trying and the comfortable bedding and spacious gathering rooms were perfect for our large family. The downstairs Bunkroom was especially nice for our son & daughter-in-law with five children and the quaint "Entry Room" upstairs (though is has no door) was perfect for great-grandma! The televisions gave us great options for watching the ball games and there was even enough chairs and space (with an extra table we found in the laundry room) for our Thanksgiving Feast. Thanks for providing such a great holiday stay for our family!
The Eccles Estate is a beautiful old house with crown moldings and wood floors. The main floor has three large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. In the basement is a big game room and a big bunk room with its own bathroom and kitchen. Our son's family loved the upstairs apartment. The hot tub was refreshing. The only thing to note is that the quiet electric heat took several hours to heat up the house. Overall a lovely stay.
Recently we had a family reunion at Gray Davis' wonderful home in Ogden. First, let me say that Gray was quick to respond to my initial request and answered all of my questions prior to booking and was great to work with.
We chose his property for a few reasons, first the house is centrally located for our particular need. His property was only about a half hour from the Lagoon and maybe 20 minutes from Pineview reservoir, which were both on our must do list. Also, we have a large family of 17 and this property was just what we were looking for. We found his home to be beautifully renovated with many features that keep with its historical background. We appreciated having separate sleeping quarters for each of the family groups to have a place to decompress and refresh after playing hard all day. Oh, and each sleeping area had its own flat screen tv too. We also appreciated having separate bathrooms to keep from tripping over each other in the mornings. The master bathroom is really a wonder with so many options in the shower that I didn't want to get out, but running out of water was never an issue with two huge water heaters in the basement :)
The rec room in the basement is awesome! It features a pool table, ping pong table and a Foosball table along with a very large sectional with a large screen tv. We spent our evenings gathered there and it was a great place for the kiddos to run and play and everyone had a great time there. I was initially concerned about a 3 level house and the stairs with 2 babies and several toddlers but the main floor has a door that we were able to close to keep the little ones safe from the stairways when we were busy in the kitchen (which by the way is well supplied and beautiful).
The outside patio has plenty of seating to eat outside and features a hot tub and a natural gas grill, both of which we took advantage of. There is a large pool on the property that will apparently be refurbished for next summer and we look forward to being able to use it the next time we stay there. The pool is gated off from the rest of the property so that there is no safety concerns for parents with small children.
So I would recommend this home to those looking for a place to gather and make great memories!
My daughter was getting married and we needed a place for the extended family to stay. With so many bedrooms and the bunk room for an extra $100 a night, there was plenty of room. The charm of this 1920's home was lovely. We especially enjoyed the master bathroom's incredible steam shower.
My family stayed in this wonderful home during the Thanksgiving holidays. Everything was perfect. This house is very large and can accommodate a large group but still felt comfortable and intimate for our group of 5. We love to cook and the kitchen was excellent for meals including our marathon cooking on Thanksgiving Day. The location is perfect for great restaurants and stores very close by and also 20 minutes to ski resorts - we also took day trips to Salt Lake and Park City and we were only 45 minutes from the airport. All in all it was a great experience and a Thanksgiving we will always remember. Thank you Gray!
