Cortijo El Cura is a very cozy, sheltered and idyllic one-floor Andalusian cottage. Located in a completely private and secluded property surrounded by lush nature in an authentic Mediterranean subtropical setting, it oozes absolute natural tranquility. This bowl of beauty is 2.500 sqm and is organic-certificated. The garden is a little piece of heaven and contains various orange, avocado and centenarian olive trees and other Mediterranean fruit trees. You can pick our delicious lemons and oranges and make fresh juice all the way from November to June. There is a playground area and a childproof pool area with green lawn all around. The cottage Cortijo El Cura is characterised by its genuine Moorish-style interiors, a paradise-like garden with sumptuous vegetation and majestic views of the surrounding mountains. All rooms have direct access to a delightful terrace which runs along the south-front of the house. This cottage is fully equipped with top quality facilities and will guarantee the perfect relaxing and pleasurable holiday.
The idyllic terrace is partly covered by an ancient vineyard and is the ideal spot for sunbathing or simply relaxing, taking in the riveting fragrance of the orange blossom (in April) and the ever-changing colours of the spectacular mountains beyond. Right beside the sunny terrace there is a huge stone-built barbecue.
Inside you can enjoy about 70 sqm of a lovely intimate atmosphere within the thick-stone built walls in an authentic traditional southern Spanish style, with a pleasant indoor temperature all year-round. Both bedrooms, particularly the cozy cave-bedroom carved into the rock, are perfect for an enjoyable siesta on a hot summer afternoon and the open fireplace in the living room gives warmth in the winter evenings. In order to get to the cave-bedroom, you have to walk through the other bedroom. In addition, the house contains air conditioner and a heating system, Internet TV with free video library and free WIFI over the whole house and part of the Garden and pool area.
The new kitchen is fully equipped and has high standard facilities. You will have all that you need (for example, sharp kitchen knives, large red wine glasses, quality mattresses and bed linens, north European standard duvets and towels).
The private swimming pool (3.5x6.5m plus a shallow part, open from April to November) and the lawn area surrounding it are fenced and completely childproof. The lush garden with abundant green vegetation is entirely child-friendly and has a playground, tire swing and a rocking horse.
The property is only 2km away from Órgiva (20 minutes walking distance) and it provides with all the quietness and tranquility of pure nature to make your holiday as pleasant and relaxing as possible.
Over the winter season the house will be heated up with 24 hours in advance to offer a warm and comfortable ambient right from the first day on.
We are able to share our experience gathered here over 20 years and offer you practical tips on activities, hikes, beaches, restaurants, cultural events, ticket reservations (for example, Alhambra tickets), etc. so that you are able to experience the authentic Andalusian culture. In addition, we can organise and facilitate flamenco classes, cooking courses, riding tours, alpine hiking tours and ski days.
We can arrange car hire from Malaga Airport with a very efficient car rental company with excellent services (small company, no queuing, quick and personalized service, no pre-charged petrol, etc.). The service refers to a new air conditioned car with full comprehensive insurance without any excess for two named drivers.
While staying with us, a visit to the Alhambra in Granada is an absolute must. The Alhambra is Europe’s largest and best preserved Moorish (Arabic-Medieval) palace and fortress-building, with unimaginable beauty and refinement. As it is also one of Europe’s most visited monuments.
To visit the Alhambra Palaces we recommend booking tickets ideally with a few months´ notices in advance on the website of the official ticket seller.
To print out the tickets at the ATM of the Caixa Bank here in town or at the Alhambra entrance, it is important to present the same bank card which was used for the online payment.
Our prices are for the entire estate (house, garden and pool) for up to 4 adults. Any extra bedding is charged 10€ per day. But extra bedding for children fewer than 12 is free. The rate includes all utilities such as Wi-Fi, gas, electricity, firewood (during winter), a pantry with the essentials (spices, vinegar, oil, sugar, coffee, tea, cocoa/hot chocolate, spaghetti, canned tomato, dish soap, laundry soap, etc.).
The final cleaning fee of 45€ is for our professional cleaning staff and the 40€ for the complete welcome service set which contains the following:
-The preheating of the house 24 hours before check in during the winter months.
-Complete clean linen set of quality bedding, bed rugs, towels (hand/facial, bathing, pool/beach), kitchen cloths, sponges, set soap -and toilet paper, candles and matches.
-A welcome food pack for a first snack with bread, butter, cheese, eggs, olives, yogurt, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, milk, water, juice, beer, a bottle of wine and a fruit bowl ( if you wish, this can be removed and the fee will be reduced 20€).
-Personalized reception (Also possible at a meeting point in the village), guiding and introduction to the property.
These fees will be charged upon your arrival only once as one single payment, as it is a unique value, independent of the length of your stay. This will ensure that you will find the property in spotless condition giving your holiday the perfect start.
We provide high chairs and cots with full bedding for free.
We accept PETS only on request and keep in case a security deposit of 150€. Pets must be well educated, never jump on any furniture and not cause any dirty or damage to the property, neither be a nuisance for other people. Unfortunately in no case are dogs of dangerous breeds accepted.
Changeover day is on Saturdays during summer season (start of July to end of August). The rest of the year we can be flexible and arrange for a different day of the week.
Over low season we can offer on bookings of several weeks’ interesting discounts. From November to March we also offer long let rates depending of dates and length of stay on special conditions. We can also offer special rates for last minutes bookings.
The price includes 10% VAT and a house insurance including liability.
Check in is from 2pm onwards, check out before 11am or according to arrangement.
Our property is a lawful family-tourism business which is registered and monitored by the Spanish Tourism Authority (Consejería de Turismo y Deporte) which guarantees the highest standards for safety, hygiene and quality. It also has the official Andalusian seal ACROCOLOR as an organic olive and orange farm.

ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
The property is located in the heart of the Alpujarras, in the green and lush south slopes of Sierra Nevada with its breathtaking landscapes and mild and sunny micro climate all year round. You will have the perfect opportunity to experience and enjoy the authentic and genuine Andalucia intimately, away from the busy touristic spots. Straight from the house, you can enjoy wonderful walks through the valley or up to the hills. By car, you can have amazing excursions to the high part of the 'Las Alpujarras' with its white and picturesque mountain villages or to the snow-covered peaks of Sierra Nevada. The mountain chain reaches an altitude of 3.484 m and is replete with a unique wildlife, beautiful rivers and pristine lagoons. The house is only 25 minutes driving distance to the coast, 40 minutes to Granada (one of the most beautiful and lively historic and cultural cities in the world) and little over than one hour to Sierra Nevada ski resorts.
Day trips can include beautiful destinations such as Cordoba, Ronda or Seville, or National Parks like Sierra de Grazalema, Sierra de Cazorla and Cabo de Gata.
Blessed with gorgeous weather all year round (including winter time), this region will give you an endless variety of activities and events: you can ski all the way from end of November to April; olive harvest for our own biological olive oil begins in December; almond flowering bloom starts in January; in March, Órgiva celebrates its patron saint with spectacular fireworks; during Easter time there are impressive marches and processions; the historical and revered orange blossom El Azahar occurs in April, filling the valley with its enticing scents; May is an excellent month to go hiking; Granada’s famous Féria with daily corridas de toros (bullfighting) happens in June; July and August vibrate with cheerful and animated village festivals; in September you can enjoy the warm waters in the stunning Mediterranean beaches; the Feria of Órgiva (harvest festival) happens in early October; and in November the local bars start to light their open fireplaces where people enjoy roasting chestnuts.
