Grew up in Stratford Ct. Went to Bunnell High School and just finished my APL at Vermont CC, Bennington.
Always loved Vermont, and skied since I was a kid at Haystack, Mt Snow and Killington. Presently volunteering at Mt Snow, with Abilities Plus, teaching anyone with a disability to ski!
Love to golf. Playing at Mount Snow this year along with VSWGA!
Always dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast.
Enjoy meeting new people, like YOU! Come & stay .....
Linda Jane Parson purchased this cottage in 2003
Passed by Woodford Lake off of route 9 a thousand times. One day my car made a sharp turn into this private community, where I saw a sign 'Home for sale by owner'
The minute I walked in, I knew it was meant to be.
Its magical here at Woodford Lake! Come and stay and find out for yourself!
As you walk into the house and look directly out to the sparkling water surrounded by glorious mountains. Listen to the sounds of the babbling brook on the side of the house.
Picture the perfect winter wonderland. That is what it is like in Woodford.
Its magical for a romantic weekend!
What a beautiful and peaceful place to get away for a couple of days. Linda has created an incredibly relaxing environment in a house that just feels perfect. Somehow it's cozy and spacious at the same time. Great view of the lake & the woods, extremely well appointed kitchen, warm pellet stove, delicious tap water, great shower (and tub), really comfortable furniture, and the most comfortable sheets we've ever slept in. The lake is small, quiet & beautiful, and we went hiking on the appalachian trail which is about 5 min away. I really couldn't imagine anything about it being better.
I took my wife to this amazing lakehouse for her 30th birthday.
We have twins at home, so a nice peaceful weekend getaway is what we needed!
MJ is wonderful! She had a bottle of wine with some local maple syrup, and a birthday card setup when we walked in!
The house is cozy and very welcoming, and the beds were even more comfortable than our own! You literally do not need to bring anything with you from home except clothes. Even paper plates, toilet paper, etc are supplied.
We came up on a Friday with 70 degrees, and randomly on Saturday night it was 35 and we had 7 inches of snow! That was a first! We experienced 3 seasons in 48 hours, in October! The lake is very pretty, and made for some great pictures. We will be booking again in the Spring and bringing the family.
We stayed for several days and had a very nice time.
First, the cabin is great. It has everything you need, and I do mean everything, in a small and efficient layout. Show up with your food (or get it locally, there are at least two excellent places to do so) and you are set for the week.
Second, the cabin is decorated in perfect vacation getaway style. It's rustic, comfy, and homey.
Third, the setting is pretty ideal. It's very easy to get to, in a very quiet area. Steps off the back porch, you've got a lake that's large enough for canoeing & kayaking and deep enough for fishing, but not so large that you have to deal with powerboats. The area is a nice mix of houses ranging from very basic on up to a couple of very nice of
Everyone we met in the area was lovely. Sadly, we didn't meet LJ -- there was no need -- but she was only ever an email or text away and was extremely pleasant to deal with and accommodating.
We were extremely pleased with every aspect of this trip and would not hesitate to stay here again. In fact, we plan to do exactly that.
My wife adds:
- A Keurig K-cup coffeemaker is provided, with a selection of K-cups, although they are all decaf and teas, so if you need a little extra help to get going in the morning, you may have to bring it with you.
- Storage in the bathroom is a little limited. It was comfortable enough for two but a larger group might have trouble. However, a lot of of the basics are provided, including towels, soap and shampoo, so it is definitely possible to pack light.
Great location on a decent sized lake... facing south so plenty of sunshine.
Awesome cottage with more than enough room to sleep 6 comfortably.
Linda the owner was great to work with, very responsive if needed.
Cottage comes fully equipped, only bring your food and enjoy the relaxing calm days and nights.
We got lucky during our stay as we had the pleasure of seeing fireworks over the lake almost every night courtesy of some neighbors across the lake.
Small beach for the kids to swim in.
A short scenic 15 min drive to Bennington for all your needs ( supermarkets-movies-Creamery -pharmacy....)
Would definitely recommend for families as well as couples.
We will be back for sure.
My family stayed here last month. It was a wonderful location directly on a small lake. The cabin itself was very comfortable, very clean, and well outfitted. There were kayaks and a paddleboat to use on the lake as well as a fire pit and deck. And although in a rural location, it was only a 15 minute drive to the town of Bennington. My family of five (2 parents + 3 children ranging in age from 12 to 15) had a wonderful time here. The owner was wonderful in e-mail correspondence and in welcoming us. Our only regret was that in leaving we could not stay longer. I would highly recommend this rental. (It is worth noting that the stairs to the loft sleeping area were steep--not a problem at all for my wife or I, but it could be a problem for someone who wasn't a good walker.)
I can't overstate how great this property is! LJ is a delight to work with and the house is wonderful: not only was it squeaky clean and nicely furnished, LJ has it set up with everything you could need to be comfortable and entertained. My kids and I had so much fun out on the lake with the supplied kayaks and paddleboards, plus it's close enough to Bennington to run out for groceries and other essentials. I would absolutely recommend this property to a friend, and we definitely plan to book here again.
Enjoy swimming, kayaking, paddle boat, "NEW Paddleboards*** ice skating, fishing, ice fishing, snowmoliling on the non-motor lake. Colors abound with wonderful foliage displays in the fall turning into a winter wonderland at the turn of the season.
Clear crisp mountain air with starry skies at night to enjoy by the camp fire.
Haystack/Hermitage, Mt Snow, Mt Anthony golf courses minutes away.
Mt Snow 15 minutes away, Cross Country Skiing at Prospect Mountain, 2 minutes away.
