Great location and layout; needs some TLC
We have rented in key colony 4 previous times in different duplexes, so this was a nice change to a SF home with ample parking and a 2 car garage. We loved the floorplan and location of this home - easy to get out to the ocean! The bedrooms are nice sized and the kitchen is well stocked. 5 bikes were available, which was awesome, we just wish the website had said there were 5 available rather than 2 (since we hauled 5 bikes with us).
The boat dock was nice, except that there was no power restored to the dock or tiki hut yet, and no extension cord provided, so we had to run out to purchase one. The hose outside also had a hole in it so washing the boat was a bit challenging. The pool was refreshing, but needs some repair work as well (tiles, water supply); it was not cleaned after the previous guests so we had to empty the filter and tried to clean it ourselves but the skimmer was broken.
The on site property managers were very nice, responsive, and sympathetic to our concerns but could not provide a new skimmer, fix the electric outside, or fix the motor of the garage door which did not work well. We were locked out when the electronic door lock battery went dead, and the garage would not open; Linda was there in less than 5 minutes to let us in as no front door manual key was provided when we arrived. There were a few other minor issues, such as light bulbs out (and one broken in a socket in the bathroom), some holes in the screened in patio, and the garbage disposal did not work well.
There was minimal information given before we arrived,or in the house itself, so we missed recycle day (and the previous renters left a huge amount of garbage too). Understanding the issues with recovery from IRMA, if we had known some of the problems ahead of time we could have been better prepared. Overall, we would consider renting here again but hope there is more attention to the details.to make this a 5 star vacation home!
Second time we rented from Toni, and this place did not dissapoint . Plenty of dock space - which accommodated both boats - bait freezer and extra refrigerator in garage a plus !!
Lovely house, great outdoor area!
This was our 4th year going to Key Colony during the summer. Our first time at this house and we stayed a month. The house is great. It accommodated our family and guests nicely. The outdoor area was great for entertaining and the dock is long to accommodate larger boats. Would definitely rent it again!
Beautiful home on canal
Amazing experience in Key Colony Beach with the best landlord. Very attentive and a pleasure to rent from. This is the fourth time we’ve rented from her and she is wonderful!
Loved the house.
LOVED THE HOUSE. It was really nice.
Great home, beautiful neighborhood
Took a family Thanksgiving vacation and decided this house would be perfect. It did not disappoint! Great amount of space for me, my husband, his parents and my mom to all be together but also have some time alone. As some of the others here said, I don’t think the pictures do justice for this home. I knew it would be nice, but it was better than expected.
The home is situation in a very nice place on key colony in marathon. We kayaked down the canal (easy in and out when the tide is up). There are several iguanas along the trip on the banks and a huge orange one across the way.
Although the keys were hit hard by hurricane Irma, this area has been cleaned up very well. The harder hit areas are still in restoration mode, but we were still able to experience everything we would have regardless. Don’t let it deter you from visiting.
Last, there is a park at the end of the road called sunset park. I recommend going there nightly for the view. Can’t be beat.
Key Colony Beach is a beautiful, peaceful island connected to Marathon. It is only 11/2 miles by 1/2 mile. Can walk or bike entire key easily.
