Welcome to a Caribbean dream. The three charming bungalows of The Retreat are 190 paces down a manicured path to Grace Bay Beach Tucked into the serenity of 25 year old gardens, come relax and feel the magical serenity of this well loved property.
The main house, originally built in 1987, has evolved from a beach cottage to a delightful group 3 bungalows with ample indoor & outdoor spaces. They are surrounded by native greenery & filled with a personal collection of Caribbean art.
The entire property was completely renovated in the summer of 2013. Naturally cooled, the house is sited to catch the breezes and view of the ocean from under the shade and whisper of the sea pines. All bedrooms have air conditioning.
The 600sqft yoga deck is also ideal for sunbathing, sky watching, cocktails and dancing.
The main house has a king bed and ensuite bath.,
The Villa is furnished with a queen bed, fridge and coffee maker.
The Cottage, with twin beds is connected to the main house by a wooden walkway.
The airy ocean view living room has a reading/napping alcove, wall mounted TV with cable . This spacious room opens onto the well furnished North deck which in turn leads to the beach path, yoga deck and a covered side deck topped with a moongazing tower.
Romantic dining is yours at the outdoor table under the arbor just outside the kitchen. The full kitchen has a gas cooktop and Profile oven, all utensils (we love to cook) dishwasher, fridge with icemaker. The gas grill is on the north porch.
There are restaurants along the beach in walking distance, several water sports companies offer beach pickup with kayaking and paddles boarding rentals available.
Please note!!we have resident CATS who are cared for by the staff and geckos behind paintings.
Architect & artist/entrepreneur, we have lived in Turks and Caicos since the early '80s'. Jeffrey has designed a number of oceanfront homes here in TCI as well as the Veranda Hotel, now the Key West Village of Beaches.
I have spent most of my life in the Islands. My careers range from shop clerk, deck hand, journalist to screen printer and for the past 20years partner in Maison Creole, a Haitian & local artisans shop in our PLS airport.
TC Villas purchased this house in 1987
We built the beginnings of The Retreat in 1987 on a nearly bare piece of land by the sea. I was determined to live in a jungle and with time and attention the native plants began to thrive. Now there are Joewood, mahogany, thatch palms, seagrapes, Bahamian ficus and encyiclia rufus orchids. We added a deck here, a tower there, a cottage back there, another deck...We love our home and want others to be able to share the idyllic bliss we find here.
One lot back from the beach, one in from the street makes for delightful privacy.
What are you making an interesting place to stay on this beautiful paradise accommodations were superb and what wonderful hosts you were so very thoughtful
Fishing with Screaming Reels in Grand Turks included whale sighting as well as big Wahoo!
we will spread the word and hope to return again love the geckos and the cats nice touch.
All 3 homes were wonderful, as well as the 5 decks to choose from! They were all very clean and had fantastic artwork, pottery, wooden bowls and books to enjoy. The pillows, linens and towels were great. Had a rug by bed to catch any sand from getting into the bed. Loved the outdoor shower! The beach chairs had a strap & were easy to carry down the path to the beach. A second outdoor shower by beach storage to wash the first layer of sand. Charming strands of little lights strung through the trees made for enchanting evenings. Walk next door by beach to Somewhere Cafe and snorkel at the Coral Gardens Reef. Wish we were still there!
This was my first time to the Caribbean and it was just as I imagined only better! I am SO happy I chose to stay here! When you stroll along Grace Bay, all the other hotels are quite soulless but these villas are the exception; they really are gems.
They’re nestled, maybe a minute and a half from the beach, up a sandy walkway in a really green lush area. (You can see in the pictures the green outside the villas!)
The owners are lovely; Lucy is a creative lady and her husband Jeffrey is also an architect and you can understand this very quickly by the beautiful spaces and buildings they have created for their guests.
Lucy met me at the car rental place at the airport and led me to the villas so it was absolutely stress free.
There is a great fully equipped kitchen and really good barbecue outside as well as about 5 different places to eat around the villas-literally!: on the main deck, on the side deck, in the garden, on the star-gazing platform; under the star gazing platform!! But alternatively if you would like to eat out there are some lovely restaurants just a few minutes walk along the each- ‘Somewhere’ and ‘Grace Bay Bistro’ were my favourites. It’s perfectly located.
At night whe you come back to sleep, it’s just lovely, quiet and peaceful. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND a stay here if you want to relax and get into the Caribbean chilled mood.
This was our first time in the Caribbean and I am so glad we chose to stay here, we had a fabulous stay and our hosts were more than accommodating! This little gem is tucked back into a private area and gives everyone plenty of room to spread out and relax, we had 6 in our group. The bungalow (that makes it sound small, not so!) was clean, crisp sheets, WiFi access is good but you won't need it much here -- too much to do (or not, if you choose)! There is also a small cooler, chairs, snorkeling gear and other items you can take down to the beach. Every morning we headed down the path to the beach for a walk, then back in for breakfast at our leisure...nice not to have a set time to eat or crowds. Then back out the beach for some great snorkeling right as you enter the beach or turn left and take a very short walk down to the next reef - don't forget your GoPro, the fish are beautiful! We rented a car and found driving the island very easy from the bungalow, nothing is more than 10 min away. If you are there on Thursday night walk down to the park (left off the path to the beach) along the water for the fish fry, gift shopping and music - lots of fun! If you want to try parasailing, look for a man named "Beach Max" when you are on the beach he's very nice, has a good boat and will come down to pick you up, try the gelato sold on the beach each afternoon around 2 (you will here him coming -YUM!!) and drive over to Las Brisas for the 2-hr pontoon ride where you will get to see Chalk Sound, do some snorkeling and possibly grab a bite at their restaurant which was outstanding. Don't forget to ask Lucy for more recommendations ...she knows where all of the cool stuff is happening! Bottom line - we would definitely stay here again. Cheers!
We just spent a relaxing and rejuvenating week in Grace Bay with our teenage kids. The owners were wonderful - they were available to help with whatever we needed and at the same time totally respectful of our privacy. Their place is simply beautiful - so thoughtfully decorated, with more places to hang out and enjoy than we could truly take advantage of during our stay. And, there are wonderful small touches throughout the property that make it just spectacular. Also of note, the owners gave us back our security deposit on our last day, which we particularly appreciated after a recent experience with another VRBO rental owner who still hasn't returned our deposit after more than two months. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind, with privacy, beauty, and excellent location, this is the place.
This was a wonderful place to stay for our vacation. The owners were vey, very helpful and wonderful to work with. Great location. The retreat worked great for our group of six. Would definitely recommend this retreat. The resident cats were great and the caretakers were very nice.
Lovely time we 6 Girls had at this property.
Decorated fun. Cozy and safe.
It's a very efficient place to stay. Great location
Close to a beautiful beach . And shopping and restaurants
A great home away from home . And totally loved the outside shower. And lovely owners who treated us like family . And we're so helpful with everything we needed.
Lucy and Jeff are great people.

Paddleboarding and kayaking are popular as is snorkelling at Coral Gardens reef, a 3 minute walk away. We have wonderful birdlife in the area including Osprey, red tail kestrel, pelicans & hummingbirds. We love to watch the sea birds fish. Day Charter boats and parasailing boats may pick you up from the beach in front.
Spa Tropique is next door.
