About Janice Martiak

My parents bought this property 15 years ago and we have enjoyed many vacations and holidays with friends and family in this house. It is such a warm and inviting place, yet large enough to find your own quiet nook. The kitchen was recently renovated, but we have kept the original charm of the house that we all liked so much. We have gotten to know our neighbors and some people in the community and it really is always an enjoyable stay as we reconnect with people in the community.

This is the first year we will be renting the home as my parents are spending more of their time in Florida. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the house or the area.

Why Janice Martiak chose Manchester

This house really offers something for everyone. If you want to get out and about, there are a number of things to do within a half hour of the house or you can drive 4 miles to the center of town. If you are more of a homebody, you can sit on the deck an relax in the summer or sit by the fire inside in the winter. The kids will find plenty to do inside and out. We always send them down to the garage for a ping pong tournament.

Very Accommodating!

  • 4 of 5

With six adults and two children, this property was more than we expected. It had plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms for everyone (plus more room if we needed). The fully furnished kitchen was well utilized as was the dining room. The two girls loved the toys that were available for them to play with. Being from Texas, when we arrived, we immediately located the window units and installed them! They kept everything cool during our stay. The additional fans in the house were also much appreciated. The couple of minor "maintenance" issues we had were responded to quickly. This property was perfect for coming home each evening to family gathered in the living room for a wind down cocktail and room for the girls to play!

very nice house, clean and cabin like flair

  • 5 of 5

we enjoyed the surrounding area and the stay. The house has additional beds, which were not advertised but it was a nice surprised. The kids really enjoyed the loft above the living room. The stairs leading to it, felt a bit dangerous but nothing happened so it was all good.

enjoy

Family Friendly is an understatement!

  • 5 of 5

I have rented several homes over the past few years and I will say this one was by far the favorite. Pictures don't do it justice. Everything was immaculate and we could have slept way more than the 6 people in our party. When my daughter and I 1st arrived and looked through the house, it just kept going and going, I actually got turned around and was so excited to see the master suite - absolutely lovely- I want that in my own house. My daughter certainly enjoyed the jacuzzi tub in the one master suite (one of two downstairs). The 3 bedrooms upstairs certainly had plenty of closet space and the rooms themselves were very spacious. There was also the foyer outside these rooms where there were books of all genres if you like to curl up to a fireplace and read (and rollaways-practically in every closet & more sleeping availability on the couches). My daughter loved the loft (playroom with games and toys), which is where she spent the majority of her time and even slept on the futon. Every amenity possible, makes us want to return just to stay here.

I was met by the caretaker within an hour of our arrival who was extremely friendly asked if there was anything we needed. There were notes throughout the house letting us know how things worked (VCR,DVD,TV, etc.). Lots of wildlife to see sitting out on the back porch as the sun went down enjoying the serenity, reminicing, and making new memories. Missed my hiking boots.

The center of town was only minutes away and several different ways to get there. I can see why skiers would want to stay here as well being close to the mountains. The local shops and the outlets we found were extremely reasonable in their pricing. I had my hair done for the wedding we were attending by Lisa from "Stellas" - she did a fabulous job. We went to "Up for Breakfast" several days in a row and sent others there as well, it was fantastic. Also had a great meal at "Seasons" and good food at "Mulligans"-steer clear of their fried plates as they were a little greasy, but our steaks were perfectly done. All of these places were less than 15 lovely winding country road minutes away. My husband attended a car show while we were there that he says was fantastic. My son and daughter-in-law left a day early to spend a day and a night in NYC - a 4 hour drive, but he was anxious to show her his home town as she had never been.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for a most wonderful family get together.

Three Maple Drive -A delight

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a wintry weekend and found the house to be perfect for our group. Warm and cozy and well outfitted we truly enjoyed our selves. Well located just a few minutes from town yet quiet and peaceful it was a delight to be there. We've ben doing this for years and are very familiar with the area and hope to return same time next year!

Great House

  • 5 of 5

Spent a weekend with some old friends attending the wedding of an old friend. House was great, fire pit was perfect. I could not imagine wanting anymore than what this property offers. Comfortable private sleeping accommodations with numerous great communal spaces. Ideal.

Lovin' life on 3 Maple

  • 5 of 5

A 70th and 75th birthday, an epic 50th wedding anniversary, and ultimate family reunion set the stage for a wonderfully memorable summer stay at this cute and convenient cottage that slept all of us very comfortably. Amazing dinners, from baked lasagna to grilled lamb chops, we're created in the spacious and contemporary kitchen, while the large fire pit--set on the lush lawn surrounded by towering maples and pines in the back yard--toasted our marshmallows and warmed our hearts as the sunset each evening. Manchester itself is a terrific little town. Shopping. Spas. Hikes. Dining. Something for every one of us. Emerald Lake is just 15 minutes away where we spent an afternoon swimming, sunning and canoeing. Loved returning each day to the comforts of 'home' where hot showers and comfortable living awaited us. Can't wait to stay here again!

Owner's Response: Dear Jenn, Thank you for your very kind review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with family and took advantage of all the summer activities in the area. An evening by the fire is the perfect way to end a long day as is a good night sleep. We hope you visit again. Sincerely, Janice

Manchester is a quaint town at the base of Mount Equinox and near Bromley, Stratton Mountain and Okemo mountains. Enjoy prime skiing, outdoor sports, golf, top ranked Spas & Resorts, restaurants, lakes (swimming) and shopping.

Take a stroll down Three Maple Drive, or take the Pew Forest Tail not even a quarter mile from the house and start enjoying the outdoors. This area really has something for everyone. Even the one person in the family who is happy to sit by the fire and read a book.

Manchester is known for Designer Outlet Shopping but the town has far more to offer. There is the riley rink center for ice skating, the Hildene house for a step back in history and worth a visit in the summer for it's beautiful gardens and vistas and in the winter for the holiday decorations, the Orvis store for the outdoorsman in the family and a great park for the kids. There are a number of events taking place thruoghout the year.

The dining in Manchester and the surrounding area is excellent. Some of our favorites are The Perfect Wife (casual upstairs, fine dining down stairs), Ye Olde Tavern, The Reluctant Panther (fine dining), The Spiral Press Cafe (breakfast/lunch) and the Barrow House. There are SO many restaurants both new and old to try and there are many towns to visit. It's always fun to explore and find something new.

Manchester is approximately thirty minutes from Stratton Mountain Resort and about 15 minutes from Bromley ( a great family resort!) It is a beautiful setting if you just want to go for a drive and take in the scenery. If you do, take a ride to Weston to the VT Country store and on the way stop at Taylor farm. They make delicious cheese and if you have kids they will love to see all the animals running around.

There are so many things to do and I would recommend doing a little research before you go. As much as there is to do, one of my favorite things is being outside with the kids, sitting around the fire looking for shooting stars and counting satellites, watching the game in the living room, sitting in the kitchen with family and enjoying a glass of wine or getting a card game going in the dining room. Creating Memories. That's what it's all about.
