I'm a house junkie still in rehabilitation........honestly just love old houses, new houses, house ideas, house design and construction. Past 10 years I have been involved in every facet of real estate and renovation, and love more than anything the transformation of homes and spaces. In every house there's a beautiful home wanting to emerge! This in combination with hospitality is a perfect fit for me......the creation of an experience! I hope you 'feel'- cozy, warm, welcome, and at peace when you stay at one of my vacation rentals.
Stacey Johnson purchased this condo in 2012
The location of this unit is so ideal. It allows one to ditch the car and just walk to the best of St. Paul - Grand Ave and it's fun shops, restaurants, and bars. Or head down Summit Ave and gawk at hundreds of some of the most amazing architectural homes in the US. Also right in the neighborhood is the Cathedral of St. Paul; something simply astonishing to see. Just a bit further but still walkable is the Capitol, another amazing architectural feat. For a more livelier walk you can head downtown and take in more restaurants, theatres, and possibly a concert at the Excel Center. It truly is the epicenter of fun!
My daughter and I were pleased with the house in St. Paul. The home was conveniently located with numerous restaurants, drug stores, grocery stores, shops within walking distance. It was easy to get to local attractions as well. The house was comfortable and quiet, with ample room for a multi-night stay. It was very bright and warm. Parking was on the street and always available within a few feet of the house. We would stay there again.
A fantastic place to stay while in the cities. Comfortable, quiet location within walking distance of Many shops and restaurants. Great neighborhood. Unit had everything we needed. Stacey was attentive and responsive to our needs. Looking forward to a future stay soon.
We are leaving Stacey's darling downstairs unit after a 1 week stay while in town for our daughter's wedding. What an ideal property! Location is within in walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants of Grand Avenue. A delux grocery store is about 1 mile away. We took daily walks around the beautiful old neighborhoods to enjoy the majestic mansions and old beautiful trees. The unit itself is all we could ask for. It is spacious, clean, well stocked and relatively quiet. There is a little road noise from Grand Ave. but nothing that was bothersome. The best part is the cute front porch. We spent every possible minute out there enjoying a beautiful stretch of weather. On the cool mornings we sat and had our coffee in the living room with a nice electric fireplace. We had to work at our jobs while here inbetween taking care of Wedding preparations. The Internet worked very well -- there is a nice desk facing the front windows that made even working pleasant. There is a washer/dryer in the basement which came in handy for us as well -- although no dishwasher or garbage disposal (which did not bother us at all but be aware). There is a gas grill on the property, but it was not functioning when we were here. Our daughter -- the bride, who lives less than 1/2 mile from the property had a grill so we brought it over and used that! The property has a small, cute back yard that is easily accessible.
I would highly recommend this property for anyone who is in the St. Paul area. Really beats the hotel scene! Thank you Stacey! We will be back!
We stayed there for 4 nights in September, 2016.
This home is in a terrific location in St. Paul with easy access to shops, restaurants and cultural institutions. The place is quiet with lots of space for two people and has the basic amenities one would expect. On street parking was not a problem.
The home lacks attention to detail, often a downfall of B&Bs and rentals. The oven and the oven trays had not been cleaned in a while (we cleaned the trays), there were no extra sheets or blankets for the bed (we had to buy an extra flannel sheet), the blinds in the kitchen window were dirty (we cleaned them), there weren't enough clothes hangers (we bought some extras and left them there), the bathroom sink drained very slowly, there were no night lights to help you find your way to the bathroom at night, especially since there is a step down when going from bedroom to bathroom. The bedroom could use a larger night stand on the left side of the bed (the current one is too small to hold anything except the lamp that is on it).
The rating scheme does not allow for half-stars so I had to give it 3 stars; I would actually rate it at 3.5. But would we stay there again? Despite the great location, the answer is no.
We had a great stay with our family of 4. The location was wonderful to go for walks to view the houses on Summit Ave. We also enjoyed walking to many meals and shops during our stay. The house has everything we needed. Our 4 year old slept on the roll away bed in our room along with our baby in his Pack n Play. There was plenty of room for everyone including our dog. If we are back in the area we would stay here again.
We went to St. Paul with a busy agenda to prep for a big wedding. The real bonus in our trip was staying at the perfect place. Stacy has a lovely home with every detail covered for her guests. Each time we came home to Stacy's we were so glad we choose her listing. We were the envy of all the "hotel stayers" when we said we were at Summit Hill. What a gorgeous neighborhood. So enjoyable!! And now let's talk about comfort.... the beds were over the top! We slept great and were well rested as we hit the ground running each day. The wedding went off without a hitch at the lovely Harriet Pavilion, and the trip was a "Grand Ave" success! Only suggestion... allow enough time in your travel plan to relax on the front porch and enjoy this talented landlords fabulous space. Would we recommend it? Absolutely with a capital A+++++.
Thanks Stacy for everything. WE LOVED OUR STAY!!
The Summit Hill area is one of the nation's premier collections/concentration of turn of the century mansions and architecture. Less than one block away on Summit Ave is F. Scott Fitzgerald's brownstone he lived in during several of his writing years. James J. Hill mansion is a must see and is walking distance from VRBO unit. Over 14,000 sqft. of splendid finishes and design. Nina's coffee house is a nice walk for a cup of local coffee and people watching; it is in another magnificent building that won't disappoint.
