Comfortable place stay close to everything

  • 4 of 5

Great place close to the beach. We loved the outdoor porch with chairs to sit and relax. The beds were comfortable and great shower heads in the bathroom. The outdoor shower was nice to rinse all the sand off before walking into the house. I did notice behind the behind the nightstands was dirty but that's an easy fix. It needs to be sprayed for bugs as well. I would definitely come back with that being said.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. As it happens, your stay was right before the twice annual "deep clean" and pest control. So it's clean as a hospital right now. It's Florida, it's August, we have had a couple of feet of rain. You can never keep every ant and bug out of the house since the houses are not sealed airtight. But we do a pretty good job. In response also to a prior review the rough asphalt has been removed and repaved ($3800) and the lanai has been both re-painted and completely cleaned. But absolute perfection on every aspect of every stay is just not possible. That is what the Ritz-Carlton is for. And I doubt they meet the standard. We strive for superior service and accommodations every day. Thank you for your overall positive review. Greg Nelson

needs a little "TLC"

  • 3 of 5

Overall impression is that with some care this place could be very nice. It is spacious; bedrooms are large and very comfortable. Our main complaint is the entrance driveway. There are large roots that have raised the asphalt level so high that your car bottoms out. The porch area was very dirty. The inside just needs some caring touches to make it a more pleasant place to stay.

Owner's Response: Actually the place has received a HUGE amount of TLC. The impression that it has been neglected is inaccurate. It has been a vacation rental for less than two years. It just got a brand new $7000 wood floor. All the stuff you liked is new. New beds, new furnishings, new plumbing fixtures, high flow shower heads, new pots, pans, new luxury towels, new linens, new 46" Samsung LED HDTV, etc. etc. etc. The place is clean, quiet, safe, and everything works. Every last light bulb is checked before every guest stay. The issues that you mentioned are not issues of lack of TLC. The lanai is, after all, an outdoor room, and it, along with the entire building exterior, needs to be painted. That is in the planning stage and there is a little color selection issue. As far as the entrance to the driveway, 200 feet away, that is actually an easement across a neighboring property. But the bumps are painted orange, like speed bumps and your car is the first car to "bottom out". None of the other guest cars, or my cars, come close. There are multiple property owners responsible for maintaining the driveway and while that repair is also in the planning stage, the expense of repaving and cutting out the tree roots is huge and has to be shared between the benefited properties. So the bottom line is that there is no lack of TLC. The inside is not just randomly really nice while the lanai and driveway are "lacking TLC". There is a very odd phenomena whereby the people who come at the least expensive times of the year, and pay the least amount of money, are somehow the most critical and eager to find fault. Fault can be found anywhere you look hard enough. But this is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath , 1400 square foot (1100 indoors + the 300 square foot lanai) place that is basically very, very nice, with a laundry room, full kitchen, and on and on and on. So if a "dirty" outdoor room, and bumps at the driveway entrance 200 feet away are the worst things you can find wrong, think about what that means about everything else. It means everything else is excellent.

Quiet and close to beach

  • 4 of 5

Stayed there for the month of February in 2015. Appreciated being allowed to bring dog and cat. Quiet neighborhood; house clean and spacious. Just a couple of spots from lovely Nokomis Beach, and near parks, nature preserve, and Venice, FL. Excellent golf in the area and nearby Sarasota. Grocery store and lots of restaurants nearby.

I stayed for two weeks with my wife and daughter. The house was very spacious, clean and well furnished. Location is excellent, just 2 minutes from the beach. Also very close to a nice restaurant, grocery store, pharmacy, etc.

Quiet Relaxing Getaway!

  • 4 of 5

Great place for a vacation for the family or a romantic getaway. Condo was very clean, well maintained, and the pictures and description were very accurate. Quiet and simple. Very close to the beautiful beach, although a bit too far to walk with small children. We really enjoyed eating all of our meals on the lanai & because the property is set so far back from the main road, our children could play outside without worry. Close to grocery store, pharmacy, etc.

We definitely recommend this property; we look forward to returning next year!

Things to do:

Nokomis Public Beach from 5pm to sundown: Wednesday and Saturday nights check out the energizing drumming circle/dancing…so much fun!

Bentley's Homemade Ice Cream is delicious and within walking distance.

Snook Haven Restaurant: about 20 min away, rustic but worth the trip!

Casperson Beach: great place to sift the sand and collect shark teeth
