Situated in the heart of the lively 13thc village of Capestang (on the Canal du Midi) the restaurants, shops, cafes and twice weekly market are all a few steps away. It is a large, spacious old style French house with a 13thc tower (& resident owl). The main house is on 3 floors. The top floor has 1 double en suite and 3 twins rooms (2 en suite, 2 twins share the 4th bathroom). The first floor has 2 large en suite doubles, 1 has a dressing room with cot. In the spacious sitting room with comfy sofas are DVD, video, a music centre & wood burning stove for cosy nights. Also a new kitchen & large dining room. In front of the house is a large gated courtyard, whilst to the side is a secluded patio garden with pool (9x 4.5 and 1.2 deep). There is also a BBQ, summer kitchen with fridge, shower, cloakroom, table tennis table & lots of teak garden furniture for relaxing on. The church behind is lit at night and proves a wonderful backdrop to dinner!

Fantastic Stay in Capestang
Spent a fantastic week here with extended family in May 2008. Capestang was wonderful - perfect size place to stay with bakers, market, restaurants, cafes and bars right on your doorstep and smack bang on the Canal du Midi for many a pleasant walk. Le Manoir was beautiful: great rooms, tonnes of space, great cooking and entertaining areas and a lovely pool and garden. Eilis could not have been any more helpful nor the local helpers. Highly recommended and hope to head back one day.
Wow! It's great to hear when families have enjoyed themselves so much. That's our aim, as happy guests mean repeat guests, so everyone wins.
Couldn't recommend Le Manoir in Capestang highly enough. The house is massive, immaculately clean and has everything you could want or need while on holiday. The pool is tranquil and private, there's a table tennis table and an area for barbecuing too which is great. The beds are super comfy, the courtyard is great for outdoor dining and it's literally the perfect place for a group or family holiday.
The centre of the village is less than a 60 second walk away, and it's so peaceful and friendly. The restaurants in the area are lovely, it's not far from the river and you can walk to absolutely everything.
Five stars! I'd go back tomorrow.
Everything we hoped and imagined it would be!
Le Manoir is a beautiful, spacious, authentic French villa tucked away behind Capestang's main square. You have complete privacy and your own secluded pool with barbecue, outdoor kitchen area, eating area, table tennis and deck - what more could you need?!
There are lovely restaurants a stone's throw from the villa, a market in the square twice a week, a quaint French bakery to get fresh bread and pastries every morning and cafes to enjoy them with amazing coffee. We were in our element!
The beach town of Valras - Plage is a 20 minute drive away and great for some shopping, water sports and sunbathing, of course!
We had such an incredible, relaxing holiday in Capestang, which was largely down to Le Manoir. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay, and we hope to visit again in the future.
Five Stars- Fantastic property
Myself and my family travelled through the south of France for our summer holidays this year and staying in this house was without doubt the highlight of our holiday.
The house has an amazing old fashioned french countryhouse vibe, with large bedrooms, high ceiling kitchen and living room and is fully furnished throughout with lovely decor situated all around the house.
We spent most of our time by the private pool which was immaculately kept with loads of poolside beds and an outdoor food area. The outside fridge/freezer and table tennis table were great additions.
The poolside BBQ ensured that we never needed to leave the location, but when we wanted a change of scenery the town square is a two minute walk where we found lovely restaurants with great food and drink at very reasonable prices.
There are local convenience stores that are walking distance and there is an Aldi less than a 10min drive.
We couldn't recommend this property higher and when we come back to Capestang we will stay here again without a doubt.
Fabulous property in the heart of a lovely town
Fabulous property in a brilliant location for all the towns cafes and restaurants and yet once inside the walls it was lovely and quiet. We struggled with our lack of french with the housekeeper but as we had no issues and everything was taken care of this wasn't an issue and there was a phone number for a local couple of english speakers if we had needed it. The house was well stocked with everything you needed including pool towels which is unusual from my experience. I would highly recommend this property if like us you like to be able to go out at night without having to drive but you want a large house with all facilities. Most large properties tend to be in the countryside. The pool area was fabulous and spacious.
A wonderful house
When we walked in we were just amazed at the place, the photos don't do it justice. 12 foot celiings, 6 bedrooms with en-suites, 3 of them were HUGE suites (One guest said "I don't think I ever have to leave this room"). There is a dining room and a lunge so there is plenty of room to spread out and large meals aren't a problem. Then there was the the pool and the courtyard to top things off. The place is simply and well decorated and not lacking in anything.
Add to this the town, with 2 markets a week (we never went to the InterMarché), being in the middle of wine country, and long walks along the canal, and you are set.
We spent a wonderful week, lounging around the house, lounging around the pool, evening drinks in the square and home cooked meals in the Manor. We couldn't have asked for more
Capestang is a beautiful 13c village on the Canal du Midi, and is surrounded by lovely vineyards and woods for walking and cycling and riding. There are lots of very good markets in this area, both for wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables and general goods. The coast is 20 mins away with sandy beaches, some excellent fish restaurants and the fish market of Sete. For history there is the ancient walled city of Carcasonne, the Roman town of Narbonne, and the city of Perpignan. Montpellier, the buzzing university town, is only an hour away. Spain is only an 1 1/2 drive away and has a very different style to France. Or just sit by the pool with a book.
