Perfection in a beautiful locale

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful home and gardens in a charming village perched up in the hills. We spent all of our time either in the pool, around the dining table or in the nearby town Agueiz on the river. Very special holiday.

Fabulous home in gorgeous countryside

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 8 adults and one child. The quality of the house and furnishings are exceptional. The facilities and grounds, including swimming pool, boule court and table tennis, gave us all hours of fun. The surrounding landscape, towns and villages are highly impressive (particularly Aigueze). We would highly recommend it for any family holiday.

Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a wonderful fortnight at Maison D'Estelle - the house is beautifully decorated and maintained throughout with the most spectacular views over the local region. The house and garden felt very spacious for our group of 10 and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need - a real home from home. There's plenty for the children to do - a lovely pool, table tennis, boule - and the gym (with treadmill and cross-trainer) was a real added bonus too for those who like to keep fit. It would be very easy to spend all your time relaxing at the house, on the terrace and around the pool but there are also lots of interesting places to visit in the local area - Pont du Gard, the Ardeche, waterfalls. We will definitely be returning - highly recommended.

Beautiful house in lovely location

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful house, beautifully renovated, and kitted out with care, providing everything you could possibly want. We were a party of eight and there was plenty of room, and lots of all those boring things you need to make a holiday easy: cutlery, sun loungers, glasses, BBQs (3!) etc. Dishwasher, fridges (2) and washing machine are all big and modern, and there's good wifi and English TV channels.

We were welcomed by Muriel, who was helpful throughout our stay, who speaks English (and also runs the depot de pain for your bread order each day), and the house was immaculately clean.

The pool and garden are lovely, and we spent most of our time around the pool. The terrace has a big dining table and lots of chairs, and has great views over the surrounding countryside.

If you want to be active, there's lots to do - we went to Orange, Nimes, Uzes (thanks to Muriel's tip) and the stunning Ardeche Gorge, but chances are you'll just stay and relax at the house. Highly recommended.

Recommended for large family /group

  • 4 of 5

A well appointed home in the Rhone Valley , definitely not your traditional rental with mix and match furniture. We were a group of 9 and it catered for all. From the young children to teenagers, couples to a grandmother! Great layout of bedrooms and bathrooms, and simply space in general, that suited very well the mixed group we were. Never felt that you were cramped on top of each other. Gathering around the terrace or large kitchen table for a leisurely breakfast, feasting on fresh local breads and croissants picked up from the bread depot in the hamlet to lounging by the pool meant for a relaxing time. The house is situated in a tiny hamlet perched on top of a hill with great walks and vistas. For the adventurous canoeing, swimming and jumping off rocks on the nearby Ardèche, or even a shorter drive , climbing from pool to pool in the Sautadet Cascades(waterfalls) near the picturesque village of La Roque-sur-Cèze are both a must. There are many hidden away hamlets and villages to explore too not forgetting the numerous vineyards to stock the trunk for the route home. Don’t be disappointed and simply stick with the owners recommended restaurant “La Galatine” in nearby Goudargues for great food and friendly service.

La Maison d'Estelle sits on the edge of the classic Provencal 14C village of Salazac in the Gard, just a short drive from Goudargues, Bagnols-sur-Ceze & Barjac. Close to Nimes, Avignon, Uzes, & Orange with the Cevennes, Ardeche & the coast not far away, the house’s location has many advantages. Access by road (A7, x19 at Bollene), plane (Nimes, Montpellier or Marseille) & train (Avignon) is unusually easy. Lovers of all things Provencal will find them in abundance in this area. The nearby hilltop villages of la Roque sur Ceze & Cornillon, like Salazac, are classic beauties. Goudargues with its waterways, village shops & restaurants has so much to offer. There are weekly markets in many of the nearby towns & villages. A visit to Uzes on a Saturday morning is a must!

Sites of cultural interest close by include the famous Pont du Gard, the Roman amphitheatres of Orange & Nimes, the Palais de Papes at Avignon & the Chatreuse de Valbonne. And the coast is little more than an hour away.

Other Activities: Provencal Markets. Wine tours. Quad biking. Sites of Historical interest; Pont du Gard, Nimes, Avignon, Orange. Mediterranean 1 hr away
