Five stars is not enough

  • 5 of 5

Giving this place five stars doesn't do it justice. I'd give 10 if I could. I've stayed at this house on two separate occasions and both times it's been extraordinary. It's very well maintained, clean, quiet and yet right in the middle of all Austin has to offer.

I've stayed at Homeaway/Airbnb houses all over the world and this is by far one of the best experiences. I can't imagine a better deal in Austin for the money.

Owner's Response: John and his friends were a pleasure to host. This was our second opportunity to host his visit to Austin, and we certainly hope to see him again on his next trip here.

Amazing gem just steps from Downtown

  • 5 of 5

My co-workers and I stayed here for SXSW and it was 100% perfect. Chuck is a wonderful, helpful host. Communication response time was fast and he was so accommodating with our arrival and departure. The house is outfitted to a T with any amenity you could need during your stay. Downtown is just under a mile away, so totally walkable.

One thing I would note is that if you are a group traveling with males and females, two out of three bedrooms have bathrooms. So make sure you're comfortable sharing. It wasn't an issue at all for us, but is worth considering if you are traveling for work.

We will definitely be back for another visit!

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at many VRBO rental properties over the years and this was among the very best. The space was modern, comfortable and immaculately clean. I agree with a previous reviewer who said that the owners were hospitable without being intrusive. Unfortunately our flight into Austin was significantly delayed and Chuck graciously let us into the apartment at 3 a.m. The location also is ideal--a close walk to restaurants, Whole Foods and shopping. I would absolutely stay here again!

3 1/2 stars

  • 4 of 5

I'll start with saying that the property is very clean and in a great location - walkable to many things and a short Uber ride everywhere else. The property owners are also very nice and welcoming. There are some major shortfalls though which cannot be overlooked. The property is 3 bedroom/2 bath, which normally would not be a problem for adult friends travelling together. The 3rd bedroom however had no access to a bathroom other than through one of the bedrooms. There was no main accessible bathroom; the bedrooms did not share. So for one of the guests, the only option for using the facilities during the night was to walk through another person's room to the bathroom at the opposite end. If someone from town visits you, they must also go through another's room to use the facilities. It was not just inconvenient, but lacking in thought and privacy. Both bathrooms appear to be very luxurious, but one has no toilet paper holder and sits on top of the toilet and the other is attached by a magnetic holder that falls every time it's used. As for privacy, it is attached (which we knew) but the owners also have 3 dogs which use the yard directly outside the main livingroom/breakfast space which is also all glass. The owners are very good about following along and picking up the dog droppings, but still... You can also hear the dogs running and playing above you - as is expected, they're young dogs after all. The kitchen is wonderfully set up for meals (one sharp knife would be a great addition) and there is a washer and dryer (not used; but nice if one was staying for a week). The Keurig is also a great addition for morning coffee!

Owner's Response: I don't usually write responses to our ratings, and it is very unusual for us to receive anything other than as 5 star rating (as seen from our reviews), but I felt a need to make a response to the above review.... We strive to achieve a 5 star rating from all of our guests, and take great pride in our home, the accommodations and their cleanliness, as well as being the most accommodating as hosts. As our property description reads, the rental has three bedrooms, two of which have ensuite baths. This property is most suitable for families and/or good friends that do not mind sharing space, and appreciate the detail in cleanliness. We are not a good fit for groups of people that need a meeting space to entertain many friends and guest that come and go (as described in the listing). When guests are asked if they need anything during their stay, we are happy to, and always provide them with whatever they need. We are still happy that our above guests had a good visit to Austin, although they did not thoroughly read the property description. We were also kind enough to allow them to have more guests than their reservation, without charging them the extra fee. We work hard to make sure all of our guests have a pleasant stay, and most of all we enjoy seeing so many of them returning multiple times.

Family Christmas visit to Austin

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 4-day visit to Austin at the Bat City House. The downstairs apartment is beautifully renovated and the landscaping - front side and back of the house - are lush and lovely. The December weather was a bit chilly so we did not sit outside, but the garden view from the dining table was delightful. We enjoyed Christmas breakfast and coffee every day at the house. The location is so close to everything. We walked along the greenways downtown, walked the Zilker Park trail of lights, and enjoyed day trips to San Antonio and the LBJ ranch. All in all a great time! (And many thanks to Chuck for making our stay so comfortable!)

Beautiful Property and convenient

  • 5 of 5

Hands down this is the most beautiful VRBO I've ever stayed in. It's super close to downtown (shops, Whole Food, music, restaurants). I wish our visit was longer!
