A DREAM FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY NATURE AND WILDLIFE ALONG WITH THE WARM PEACE OF AN EVENING FIRESIDE! Stroll along an old railroad bed beside a babbling and pristine trout stream running along breathtaking mountain views. A one-of-a-kind property with more than 500 private acres containing many hillside trails for your exclusive enjoyment--many options for hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing or just wandering and wondering.

The flat open areas around the cabin and our full-size barn offer a variety of sites for your private events including weddings, reunions and corporate retreats. Horse stalls are available with both outside and inside shelter. And to get even further away, an extensive variety of open and wooded trails meander across and over the mountain for many miles. And we are just up the road from the north entrance to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon!

Sunsets bring on a sort of magnetism to our unmatched fire pit where many flames of debate have settled the differences of the past among friends. Of course, there is always another matter called to order for the next evening, or of course you can simply lean back, unwind, and find your answers in the stars...of which there are many! Very far from any neighbors, only the trees will hear your singing and tales, and they will pass along only a few whispers....

Inside the cabin, enjoy extensive hand-crafted woodwork and construction hewn from timbers on the property. Relax in front of a unique and inviting stone fireplace built from stones gathered from the property and surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. The fireplace rises from the center of the room with a cylindrical stack stretching up a two-story atrium and alongside a rustic spiral timber staircase. You won't want to leave this cabin...!

A little taste of Heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

You know you had a wonderful vacation, when you are not ready to come home. We stayed here for 10 days/9 nights and it just wasn't long enough! We have been vacationing in this area for the past 8 years -- and growing up was where my family would vacation each summer. Normally we spend a good bit of time visiting places - Grand Canyon, Lyman Lake, the Lumber Museum - however this year we were so content just staying at the house. It had everything we were looking for. Plenty of trails for exploring and gorgeous views every way you look. The kids had tons of fun playing in Pine Creek and floating down through "the rapids" as they called them. We even floated right past a doe and her fawn getting a drink in the creek. The fireplace was amazing and we enjoyed roasting marshmallows and hotdogs around in. The kids even spent one night sleeping in a tent around the fireplace. The stars at night are breath-taking. We also spent quite a few evenings playing card games, darts and pool in the game room.

The house itself is beautiful. We enjoyed our evening meal out on the picnic table on the wrap around porch. The bird feeders constantly had hummingbirds visiting them. They are such amazing little creatures.

The owners were great. My husband called Joe several times throughout our stay to ask him questions - he was extremely quick to get back to us and was very helpful. It was a real pleasure renting from him.

It was the perfect family vacation at the perfect place. Thank you so much Joe, for sharing your home with us. We are already planning our stay for next summer. Thanks again for letting us enjoy our beautiful home and amazing property.

Wonderful place for a family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cabin for a family reunion and everyone had a wonderful time. The cabin was very clean and everything was in working order. The grounds were spacious and allowed for lots of games. The fire pit was a big draw every night. The access to Pine Creek allowed for a variety of activities. The convenience to the PA Grand Canyon made for several enjoyable day trips and allowed are large group to each do what they wanted, whether it was hiking, shopping, or horseback riding. Joe the owner was very accommodating and was immediately available when we had a few questions leading up to our stay. We are planning on making this an annual event at the Farm. This is a wonderful property for any event.

Myself and a group of 7 others vacation together each year and this year the Octagon Farm hit our trip out of the park. Joe was a pleasure to deal with from booking to check out and beyond. The property is immaculate and ENORMOUS! We stayed for three days and it wasn't nearly enough time to explore everything there is to offer, even with the assistance of our ATVs. All of our cooking needs were met, the kitchen is well equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and the set up of the house is really really cool. The river was warm enough to float down on a tube, though some spots are shallow. The "grassy knoll" on the mountain offered great views and photo ops which we took advantage of. There is a huge front lawn for volleyball and other lawn games. At night we made fires in the massive fire pit and enjoyed the comfortable and plentiful seating. If you like astronomy, the stars will knock your socks off! The milky way was visible with great detail. There is enough seclusion to feel away from the world entirely yet there are stores to restock food 10 minutes away by car. Our entire group could not rave about this place enough! Thanks again Joe, we won't forget this place!

Fantastic family reunion getaway

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to find a special place to gather with 14 family members from ages 10 to 75 and a couple of dogs but the Octagon at Pine Creek proved to be a fantastic spot! The first floor allows everyone to gather in the same room, and the custom built long dinner table let all of us eat meals at the same table. The layout of the upstairs bedrooms is just fun, everyone gets their own space in a circular layout with each room shaped like a piece of pie. Three full bathrooms is a perfect number, and the kitchen let us cook all three meals daily. It's hard to go out to eat in the little towns around Pine Creek and get seating for 14, and we preferred to make our own meals. The grounds are amazing with easy access to fishing on Pine Creek a short walk down the railroad bed, and more difficult access directly next to the house where you walk thru the tall grasses and marshy areas to reach the stream - but our adventurous fisher people enjoyed that aspect. They were up and on the water at dawn, just minutes away, with no driving! The game room was a blast with a pool table, darts and foosball keeping all ages entertained for hours after dark. We never turned on a TV, not once the whole week! We played games on the lawn during the day, gathered around the fire pit at night, and staged many day trips to go bike ride the famous Pine Creek rail trail and drive up to the State Parks and go for hikes. Some took long mountain bikes to Colton Point State Park from the Octagon, a 26 mile roundtrip. The Purple Lizard Pine Creek Map showed us all the great trails and backroads throughout this amazing area. Our family came in from Colorado, Oregon, Puerto Rico and Pennsylvania. Everyone loved it! Thank you Joe for making our family reunion an amazing, memory filled time for all. We are hoping to get everyone together again at the Octagon in the future.

Owner's Response: Your review highlights the value of spending time at The Octagon at Pine Creek Farm--so many wonderful things to do and children willfully going away from TV (we DO have satellite TV, but we have so much more that is preferred and not available at home)!

The perfect fit

  • 5 of 5

Three families with younger kids and dogs all had a spectacular time. This was exactly the get away we were looking for and the property provided the background for family fun and total relaxation. Tons of space and privacy for kids to roam and dogs to run.

The kids were totally happy with zero screens and the flat manicured grass was used more than I would have guessed. We played whiffle ball, Frisbee, badminton, and corn hole. The kids fished in the pond rode bikes up and down the private road.

We did make one outing to raft down the upper Pine and rented gear and were shuttled by an outfitter just down the road a few miles. The stream was higher than typical for June and it made for a pretty fun trip.

The camp fire pit was awesome and we spent a lot of time in the evenings there. We had one clear night and the stars were awesome.

My only negative amongst a long list of positives was that the pine was not very accessible from the property. Even though its right there, there is quite a steep drop off down to the stream and the path that normally would get you there required wading through some water to get to the actual stream. This may have been because of the higher than normal waters.

Owner's Response: As I say to all, there is so much more to do at Pine Creek Farm and all over the property that no one in a single weekend can explore all that is there! Along the 3/4 mile of our property that borders the stream, there are indeed several easy access points to Pine Creek--they are just not obvious from the fields. Hopefully a repeat trip will offer you even more enjoyment!

A wonderful experience!

We enjoyed this vacation home tremendously. Having beautiful scenery of the woods, surrounding mountains, pond and stream was such a delight. The added touch of the game room made for great family fun. I would definitely recommend this place.
