Love the city of New Orleans and all of the quirkiness it has to offer. I've lived here 12 years and think the Marigny is the best.
Rita Rans purchased this cottage in 2001
Guest house is close to everything and walking distance to the French Quarter, Frenchman Street and St Claude. Coffee shops, galleries and bars are only blocks away.
Guest house is stand alone structure with it's own courtyard and privacy. Washer and dryer are available for use. Lots of charm and New Orleans architectural detail.
The place was very clean and comfortable. Rita was very accommodating. There was even coffee grounds and bottles of water in the fridge.
Rita's place was so cozy, it was perfect for two people looking to visit New Orleans for the first time! The neighborhood was quiet and safe. We walked everywhere and had no problems navigating around to all the shops and restaurants. It was a memorable trip and we will definitely be back!!!
This property is adorable. We felt safe and RITA was very accommodating. NOLA is HOT!! in the summer and the upstairs was a little warm, but Rita responded quickly with some ideas and an extra fan. This place is small, but we weren't in the room that much and it didn't really bother us. We were a short walk from the French Quarter, which we did every day of our stay. This neighborhood is quite eclectic and we truly enjoyed exploring that part of New Orleans.
We had a great time. Lovely, adorable and tiny as advertised. Sweet garden tho and very quiet. Rita was a great communicator and very helpful. Super location, The Franklin, a very good restaurant was a block & 1/2 away. Other direction was Oxalis. Breakfast, cake bakery and market at St. Roch. We rented bikes nearby (bicycle named desire) and got all around the city. Crescent Park, new on the waterfront is nearby. Loved the hood.
We chose to spend a bit of our honeymoon at Rita's Hip Marigny House, and it was perfect. As soon as we got there, we were met in the courtyard by the kitties. We popped a bottle of wine and enjoyed it on the lush little garden patio. Every design detail of this house has been thought through, and Rita has taken particular care to maximize the available space. We found the owner to be approachable and very receptive. She wrote a note welcoming us, left coffee for us to make, and made it easy for us to stay an extra night at the last minute. The guest house is tucked away behind the main house, accessible through a narrow corridor. We walked nearly everywhere: highlights included a few jazz shows at Vaughan's Lounge, a delicious Chinese dinner at nearby Bao&Noodle, and a hot sausage poboy from Gene's. Every part of this leg of the honeymoon was magical. Check this place out. Perfect getaway for a couple.
We stayed for six days and absolutely loved it. The place is beautiful and clean, with a pretty little courtyard, where we sat and had drinks, lunch or coffee many times. There's a nice mini fridge and a coffee maker (with fantastic coffee provided), a really nice shower, and a beautiful bedroom with big windows you can open up for a nice breeze. There's also a new park you can walk to nearby. It's a small place but really perfect for two people. And the neighborhood is fantastic – so many great spots within walking distance. (We'd recommend the Franklin for dinner and Hi Ho Lounge for drinks and music – especially if DJ Soul Sister is DJing!) Would definitely stay here again!
