About Jill Jones

I was raised in Skiatook and my family has been in this area for many generations. The cabin property is next to my family's original Osage tribal allotment. Even though I've traveled far and wide, I always like to come back to my native lands in the Osage hills where I feel most at home.

Jill Jones purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Jill Jones chose Oklahoma

This part of Osage County is very unique terrain, and the area around Skiatook Lake is especially beautiful. The cabin overlooks the lake and provides a nice secluded location for enjoying nature or lake activities or just getting away from it all.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is cozy and comfortable inside, whether relaxing on the couch, cooking a meal, lighting up the firepit, or enjoying a fire in the wood stove during cold weather. On warm days, I really like the large deck overlooking the lake...perfect for grilling outdoors or kicking back for an afternoon or evening.

Cozy, quiet, and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

I wish I had planned more time just to relax here. This is a great place to sit on the back porch, drink coffee and read a book. Next time I'll allow more time for that.

Owner was very responsive with questions and my stay was very pleasant, despite the CRAZY thunderstorms that passed through.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was quiet and secluded as promised. I loved the decor. It was exactly as I had hoped a cabin would be.The cabin had all supplies needed. The location was perfect time for our visits to Pawhuska, the Tallgrass Preserve, and Woolaroc. Thank you.

Great little getaway cabin

  • 4 of 5

This is a fantastic little cabin that's got everything you need to get away from it all. Sure, there's critters around - it's in the country, scorpions and sow bugs are expected - but run a broom around the floor and keep a light on and you'll never worry about them.

The single bed is comfortable (think: overstuffed) with fluffy pillows and thick, comfy blankets. In typical cabin style, the bedroom is also the living room so plan to go to bed at the same time if you're bothered by a TV running.

The living room has a deep seating chair and a futon with accent pillows that make a good second bed if necessary. The futon butts up to a very nice rustic coffee table too. Due to the limited space the dining table is a two person affair so you may need to depend on the coffee table as an eating area, but that's a plus due to its country charm. Just remember to use coasters. It's real wood!

The kitchen nook has a keurig (nice touch!) that comes stocked with coffees and teas. The coffees include Starbucks k-cups, but if you're a Christian family there are other delicious offerings as well or you can bring your own cups. There's also some get-me-through staples like a bag of ice in the freezer and a can of Van-Camps beans in the cabinet in case you forget to pick up breakfast and need a quick meal.

The bathroom is well appointed with soaps and towels laid out in pretty stacks. You can see how well the homeowners care about how things appear in these little touches. There is no tub, but there's a very large stand-up shower with a great looking sanded glass surround. The water pressure is light, but that's to be expected in a cabin. The shower head does have many different settings, some that can raise the pressure to an adequate level.

We didn't use the firepit, but it was stocked with a nice little Tee-pee of wooden stakes that was very inviting. There is also a grill on the side of the house for cookouts. From the back porch you can see straight through the trees to the lake while you're grilling, presumably more so in winter.

The only drawback we faced was the lack of blinds in the cabin. During the day this is fine, but at night an open bathroom or living room window is not desirable, particularly if you have children.

As for the driveway one guest mentioned, this place has a relatively smooth gravel drive up to the last 30 feet. I'd happily take my wife's minivan down it without worrying about bottoming out. Rent without worry!

It was beautiful there. The cabin was just as described.

The lake was beautiful and just a short walk from the cabin. We had a deer show up to tell us bye as we were leaving.

Relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying at the cabin. It was clean, quiet, and a nice change of pace from staying in Tulsa. The cabin was well appointed and comfortable to stay in. Will definitely look to stay here again in the future.

Nice and Quiet

  • 4 of 5

I would make sure when you give people instructions on getting there. To make sure they Drive a High Profile Vehicle. I almost Drove my Brand New Chrysler 200 Down there and your Roads to get there are pretty rocky I could have easily Bottomed my car out. Other than that everything was good.
