Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

1 bedroom 1 bath with Downtown Views, Handcrafted Rustic Charmer

NEW LISTING! This newly restored gem is the perfect place to get away from it all and truly enjoy all that the gold country has to offer. All the comforts of a fine hotel with much more privacy and character. Walk to one of the great downtown restaurants or prepare a quiet meal at home in your own cozy cottage.

The home is a 5 min. walk to the heart of town where you will have many choices of wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and specialty boutiques as well as many antique stores. Downtown Sonora also offers the outstanding Stage 3 Theater. Every Saturday morning, May thru October, stroll down to the Farmers Market and take home organic produce, baked goods and local crafts. March thru December Central Sierra Arts Council has their '2nd Saturday Arts Night' where downtown art galleries, shops and eateries celebrate the arts.

Another wonderful feature of this home is the convenient location, as a 'hub' to many incredible destinations

*Yosemite National Park...(1hr to the entrance gate)

*In the summer you can ride our Historic 49 Trolley bus between three of our gold rush towns: Jamestown, Sonora and Columbia.

*Sonora with it’s shopping, dining, theater

*Columbia State Park which is a preserved gold rush era town...(12 min. drive)

*Jamestown's Historic Railtown State park is called 'the most photographed railroad in the world.' 'Petticoat Junction,' 'The Wild, Wild West,' 'High Noon,' 'The Virginian,' and 'Unforgiven' were all filmed here. Recently, movie crews produced the railroad sequences in 'Back to the Future Part III'...(10 min. drive)

*Tuolumne’s Black Oak Casino offers the 5 star “Seven Sisters” restaurant for fine dinning and the Willow Lounge for some 'free' live music...(15 min. drive)

*For large lakes we have New Melones, Don Pedro and Tulloch (15-25 min. drive)

*Pinecrest Lake is surrounded by pine trees, granite rocks and rustic cabins is a beautiful lake to hike around, kayak on or enjoy relaxing on the beach with a picnic...(40 min. drive)

*Kennedy Meadows, 20 minutes past Pinecrest, you can horseback ride or hike into the Emigrant Wilderness.

*Day trip to the town of Murphys and stop on the way at Moaning Caverns to enter the caves or take a zip line adventure.

*Once in Murphy's, you'll find many great stores, eateries and amazing wine tasting rooms. In fact Murphy's has become known as “Little Napa” because of their many beautiful wineries.

*While in Murphy's visit Ironstone Winery which offers a great venue for a Summer Concert series and in their museum view the largest Crystalline Gold Leaf specimen in the world. Weighing forty-four pounds...(25 min. drive)

*Calaveras Big Trees State Park “up the hill” from Murphys (10 min) is magnificent! Hike in the famous North Grove of giant sequoias trees.

During the summer, the Sonora 'warm Indian summer nights' can be quite spectacular. You'll find Music in The Parks, free concerts, in numerous parks around the community. In the winter you are above the fog and close enough for an afternoon of skiing at two different resorts, Dodge Ridge or Bear Valley.

With so many fun destinations and adventures close by, I truly believe choosing this comfy home for your vacation stay in Sonora will be Perfect!

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend and had a lovely stay. Everything is just ask pictured and the location is situated in a really adorable town with many food and grocery options. This made it a super easy option. It is about 1.5-2 hours out of yosemite - but a nice drive (scenic). My only suggestion would be that if you plan to do a lot of cooking, you might consider packing your own knives. We found the knives difficult to work with. But this is such a minor thing in comparison to how awesome the rest of the stay was.

Fantastic small house in a beautiful small town

  • 4 of 5

The house is small, perfect for a couple’s vacation. Wood decor is perfect for the theme of the area. House was very clean. View was slightly blocked by some trees but otherwise great.

Would have been 5 stars if only the owner had communicated with me. Tried a couple times to contact him during our trip via email and phone with no response.

Cute cottage and lovely downtown!

  • 4 of 5

House was as pictured, delightful & tastefully decorated! The lamps beside the bed are so cute and also functional! :-) We loved all the rough sawn wood and we could smell it when we walked in! :-) Awesome stone steps, "fireplace" etc. outside, around the cottage! Plenty of hot water. Bed is comfortable. Noticed a hammock on our last day there. Romantic little deck with 2 chairs and hosts provide a candle and lighter for ambiance after dark! :-) As someone else posted, the air conditioner barely keeps the bedroom cool when the temps reach 100* outside (a fan would be a good addition to the cottage)-possibly the A/C unit needs a good service and cleaning. Also it took almost a whole day for the A/C to cool the place down (would be a nice touch, since the hosts live close, if they had it turned on b4 guests arrival.) There are only non stick pans available for cooking and since we don't use teflon coated pans, we had to go buy a stainless pan for use while there. We found no dish cloth or dish towels so we went to Walmart and bought those also. TV channels are pretty limited. The downtown is cute and has awesome shops to poke around in :-) Bumper to bumper traffic most of the weekend in the downtown area! Some streets are very steep! :-) We are from the Midwest so this was a big change from what we are used to! Cover's Apple Ranch is not to far and has great cider, a train ride, and you can eat lunch there (delicious!) Overall this cottage is a great place to stay and we will consider it again if we are in the area. :-) Thank you!

Cute, clean and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Cute, clean and comfortable! My family and I had a great stay at the cottage. The space is well appointed and used efficiently. My son slept comfortably on the foldout couch in the living area, my wife and I stayed in the small bedroom. We were grateful for the good air-conditioner unit - we stayed inside during the peak of the hot days when the thermometer hit 105°! Great hikes nearby, cute town is steps away. Highly recommend.

adorable place, very romantic!

  • 5 of 5

The place is EXACTLY like the pics, if not better. Loved our stay in this cute adorable cabin. kitchen is fully equipped with everything one can need. We used the blu-ray player, loved watching movies. the bedroom is nice and cozy. SAW A DEER chilling in the shade area next to the cabin! Right in the middle of downtown Sonora. Took a walk in the downtown and just loved it. Everyone is sooo welcoming in this town. We would definitely want to go back and enjoy more of Sonora. John was super helpful and accommodating, let us have an early check in. Definitely recommend!
