About Craig Manders
Raised and currently living in New Jersey, my family has spent many fun filled hours taking advantage of all of the great things the Berkshires has to offer. The house is warm and comfortable in a peaceful country setting in one of the most beautiful and culturally dynamic resort areas on the East Coast.
Craig Manders purchased this House in 2004
Why Craig Manders chose New Marlborough
With world-class cultural attractions--including Berkshire Theatre Festival, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, MASS MoCA, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Tanglewood and Williamstown Theatre Festival--the Berkshires offer sophisticated, luxurious living in a rural setting. Whether you're a foodie, outdoor enthusiast, or seeker of all things cultural, you are never at a loss for things to do in the Berkshires.
What makes this House unique
The property can best be prescribed as tranquil. Whether relaxing in the beautiful screened in porch or taking a casual walk down a winding country road with a magnificent mountain view, the house is ideal for a country getaway. Warm and comfortable with a full kitchen and a big country dining room table for family and friend gatherings and a wood burning stove. And the outdoor fire pit is perfect to warm up after snowshoeing through the protected wooded land bordering the property. Though the setting is pastoral, the house is just down the road from the Appalachian Trail, Ski Butternut and the Trois Emme Winery. It takes only 10 minutes to get to downtown Great Barrington and 20 minutes to Tanglewood.

Tranquil resting spot in a beautiful area
The well-equipped home is an excellent place to stay for a family or (in our case) two couples. (Depending on sleeping preferences, note that there is only one queen sized bed.) The screened-in porch/extension off the open-plan K/DR/LR was a great place to sit in the morning, have coffee, and listen to the birds. The kitchen is well-equipped with modern appliances, although it would have been helpful to have filters available that fit the coffee maker. WiFi is available throughout with a reasonable signal. There were a couple of glitches, eventually easily resolved, concerning timely access to the house and WiFi access. Grocery shopping is some distance away, and it would have been helpful to know a bit more about the surrounding area (including open times and locations of the nearest grocery and convenience stores). Of course, this information is available on line, but our internet connection was delayed and there is limited cell phone service. The house has comfortable beds and is in a very quiet area with negligible road traffic and delightful tranquility.
Gregory, we're glad you enjoyed the house. We will definitely Implement your suggestions for our future guest. Thank you for your thorough review.
We had a very nice time and the home was great!
The home was very comfortable.
Berkshire County, Massachusetts is a cultural paradise about 2.5 hours from New York City or Boston with world class theater, restaurants and terrific shopping. An abundance of mountains and lakes offer boating, fishing, hiking and golfing. Fantastic antiquing. Ski Butternut, Catamount, Jiminey Creek and other ski resorts are short drives away. Or just kick back and relax in private wooded property on a quite country road.
