Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Cheyenne Canyon - Bella Cottage In The Cañon

One Bedroom, One Bath Cottage With Stunning Mountain Views.

Relax and renew in this tastefully renovated one bedroom cottage in the heart of Cheyenne Cañon. Located directly across the street from the trailhead to Stratton Open Space and hundreds of miles of popular hiking and mountain biking trails, this quiet 550 square foot cottage offers the comforts of a luxury hotel with the privacy and conveniences of home. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings and lots of windows bring a warmth and coziness to this Cañon getaway. Enjoy an easy one block stroll to the neighborhood coffee shop or walk just a few blocks to the famed Broadmoor Hotel or Seven Falls.

Stay at home to create meals in the fully equipped kitchen, including a chef's stainless gas range and vent hood, quartz countertops, microwave, Keurig coffee maker and all of the basic necessities! A selection of complimentary coffee and teas are provided. Dine in a separate dining nook with access to a full selection of plates, bowls, flat wear and glass wear (including wine glasses).

A separate bedroom with a queen bed, luxury linens and a large closet is adjacent to the living room. The bright living room offers a fantastic view of the mountains and Will Rogers Shrine and the opportunity to see abundant wildlife, including deer, fox, interesting birds (and yes, an occasional bear!) A flat screen TV with Blu Ray and iPhone/CD player is hidden behind the armoire along with books, puzzles and cd's. Wifi is available.

The spa-like bathroom has a new clawfoot tub, radiant floor heat and is stocked with luxurious towels, a hairdryer, high quality soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. An apartment size washer/dryer, detergents, iron and board are available in the unit.

The cottage is located in the rear of the property, so parking is off-street, quiet and safe.

A Little History:

Bella Cottage was built in 1922 as a 'mother-in-law' cottage. The cottage is named in honor of a woman who lived in the home located directly in front of the cottage when it was built in 1910. Bella, a widow and dressmaker at Hibbard's Department Store in downtown Colorado Springs, was one of the Cañon's first residents. Cheyenne Cañon was a summer getaway for wealthy residents of Colorado Springs at the turn of the century. Concerts were held every Sunday at Stratton Park, located just down the street from Bella Cottage. Just how and why Bella ended up living on this property is a mystery. However, she embodied the spirit of 'turn-of-the-century' Colorado Springs and one can only imagine her riding her bicycle to work in the summers or taking the trolley (abandoned by 1930) from the station in Stratton Park to her job. Cheyenne Cañon was incredibly rich in history, long before Bella's time. Going back to the encampments of the Ute Indians, this area has attracted nature lovers for centuries. The beauty of the area is unsurpassed and is awaiting to be discovered by . . . YOU!

THIS IS A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY, INSIDE AND OUT. Thank you for respecting this policy. The cottage is designed specifically for two adult guests, so additional occupants are not allowed. Thank you for understanding! Recycling is encouraged - a bin is located in the front of the property.

About Karen Brandner

I am a Colorado Springs native and have worked in the sports industry for the past twenty years here. I purchased this property, which includes the main house in front of the cottage, in 2004. I personally manage the rentals and enjoy meeting my guests.

Why Karen Brandner chose Colorado Springs

I am an avid runner, hiker and nature lover. The idea of living across the street from the trailhead to my favorite trails was a dream come true! I am passionate about this area, its people and its history.

What makes this cottage unique

I love the character of older homes and I immediately fell in love with this property. After renovating both homes, I am honored to share it with travelers who are searching for a tranquil and comfortable 'home away from home' in the Cañon.

Everything We Had Hoped For

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. It was just as advertised. We picked it partly due to the great location; being fairly close to Pike's Peak and other landmarks we were going to be visiting on the west side of town. The cottage itself was clean, well-kept, and comfortable for the two of us. There is a lovely coffee shop/restaurant and the Stratton Open Space for hiking within walking distance of the cottage. Thank you, Karen B.!

The Gold Standard for a VRBO

  • 5 of 5

The Bella cottage is decorated just beautifully. We loved the time we spent there! It was our first trip to Colorado Springs and after traveling hours to get there from Texas, walking into the quaint and cozy environment was just wonderful. It was exactly what we were looking for and more. Karen is very accommodating and every little touch that she has put into the place shows, from the clean and tasteful décor to the guide books and brochures of the area. Her whole approach to the VRBO experience is the ultimate in professionalism. I would highly recommend a stay there, besides you can't beat that clean, crisp air in Colorado!

Cozy and charming cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a welcome to Colorado Springs! Bella could not have been a more perfect place for us to stay over the long July 4 weekend. We drove up on Friday night to a deer nibbling the juniper at our front door. From there, we were charmed by the chic and stylish decor and finishes. It's a perfectly small and cozy little cottage. It feels private and safe, and is in a great area of Cheyenne Canon. Definitely don't miss Seven Falls near the Broadmoor, as well as Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak. We will definitely be back and will stay at Bella in the future!

Beautiful,accessible and very private

  • 5 of 5

Bella Cottage played a huge role in me falling in love with Colorado Springs on my very first visit. It is such a cosy and beautiful space with all the creature comforts yet so close to the Stratton open spaces, seven falls, helen hunt falls and so much more. The place is very private even though it is on the same property as the one where the owner lives.

Do chat with Karen as she will have handy tips and tricks to make the best out of your travel experience and is an awesome person.

Will definitely stay again when I am in Colorado Springs.

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place to stay. The location was perfect for my conference at The Broadmoor, and with the Stratton Open Space a few steps away it was super easy to get a hike in at the end of the day without having to drive anywhere. Karen has designed and decorated the cottage beautifully. I hope to return and stay here each year during my conference!
