Family Thanksgiving getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home over the Thanksgiving weekend for our family meet up of 16. The location is a bit off the beaten path which allowed for us to just kick back and enjoy each other.

There was plenty of space for everyone to sleep, eat and gather for various games and conversations. The great room and kitchen upstairs allowed for two areas of games as well as the lower level which includes a wood stove. We also did some hiking in the area and took advantage of the lawn space to play some bocce.

The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had plenty of place settings and cookware for meal prep. Everything worked great and Gary was very quick to respond to any questions that came up both before and during our stay.

This house offers a great multi-family space to gather in a beautiful setting. It was relaxing and fun for our entire family and we highly recommend staying here.

we picked the location because it was central to a family reunion and allowed us to continue the reunion with other members of the family. If you are looking for a get away for family functions this IS THE PLACE... would be perfect for a joint Thanksgiving or Holiday gathering.

the decks are wonderful for sipping coffee or wine and watching the weather roll in or the sun rise. Every morning we were greeted by wildlife outside our windows (but none in the trash) you have TVS in all the bedrooms (but who needs em)

large space for gathering - frog pond (for catch and release) we used the fire pit to toast s'mores (and watch the sun go down) the big yard was perfect for water gun fights and soccer and shared big family meals around the island. There is a great state park not far perfect for a fun day of swimming and picnic lunch (pool is $2 for kids $3 adults) and AMAZON will deliver your dry good groceries. we have had so much fun the past two years... looking forward ot another big family gathering. I will say the sun comes in early and the loft master room is a bit noisy because its a loft. But the kids space on first floor is a perfect place for games. movie watching and they got good nights sleep.

Get away from it all!

  • 4 of 5

We were a group of women looking to relax away from everything for the weekend. We got what we wanted because, as the listing states, there was no cell coverage (except Sprint) until we figured out the wi-fi calling. We enjoyed watching a family of deer graze in the front and back of the house while sipping our morning coffee. Even though we had a surprise driveway visit from someone who said they were the landscaper just coming by to check on the yard, it was very quiet. The house is beautiful with all of the wood and decor. We especially liked the open area downstairs for hanging out and it was close to the grill. We would've liked to have an iron available since we went into Harrisonburg one day. Also the loft bedroom doesn't offer any privacy or quiet so that may be an issue for someone wanting to sleep in or go to bed early, but the bed was comfy! Overall, we had a great stay and Gary was very quick to reply to any of my emails.

We loved this place! Very cozy and welcoming. Great atmosphere. Bring groceries with you the closest grocery store is a hike but there's a nice corner store close by.

Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nice cabin, inside and out. Bathrooms and bedrooms all very clean. We had plenty of room for our group, 12 adults and 2 children. Kitchen has a very large island ideal for cooking for large groups. Fire pit and plenty of firewood provided. We had good weather during our stay, so we explored the woods and streams nearby. Wifi worked well. I would definitely go back.

So nice!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with 4 adults and 3 kids and could've fit plenty more. The cabin is up a long private paved driveway and is so nice. Everything is very tasteful and very nice quality from the tvs in every bedroom, to the doorknobs on every door. They have all the cooking supplies you need -- even a crockpot! You're definitely privately set, but there is another cabin visible through the bare trees, but we took comfort in that.

The only negatives are....

-there is no cell service (with the exception of sprint) but your phone still can use the cabins wifi.

-the privacy comes with the cost of being completely away from any stores or restaurants (20 min drive minimum) to go to, so bring everything you need and plan to enjoy the faces you came with.
