This is the second time we have stayed here. It makes a perfect base for us while in New York visiting family and friends. The accommodation is ideal for a young family and the location is superb. Much more comfortable than a hotel, especially for an extended stay. A real find!
While we arrived on time but late in the evening (after 9pm) we were greeted with a very brief showing of the property and fresh flowers decorating the tables. Our first experience with the neighborhood was very positive, as the vegans in our party surfed and found a nearby place (Bar Bruno) which was perfect for our arrival dinner. Open late, a warm evening so we could sit outside, really tasty Mezcal margaritas and both vegan and meat dishes! After dinner we found that the beds were totally clean and comfortable, and the next morning found bagels nearby to go with the coffee machine and tea kettle output. Before we had arrived we were concerned about nearby food stores and shops, but found they were nearby and every type; a great wine shop (Scottos Wine Cellar), several bakeries (Monteleones warranted several visits), a fantastic sandwich shop (Court Street Grocers) and lots more. Kids, dogs, strollers, it was a really comfortable neighborhood. And when we were 'home' it was a very comfortable apartment. We would definitely stay again if we returned to Brooklyn.
Marion's apartment was better even than the pictures led us to expect. She herself met us at the top of the steps and let us in and gave us a tour, including instructions and local restaurant recommendations. Our week in Carroll Gardens couldn't have gone better with the possible exception of the heat and humidity-- but even that inconvenience was allayed each day by the welcome blast of AC when we'd return to our apartment! The location was perfect-- plenty of cafes, bars, markets and restaurants within walking distance. Add to that the nearby subway stops to get into Manhattan, making it the perfect place to stay. Thank you, Marion!
My sisters and I were awed by the loveliness and thoughtfulness of every aspect of Marion and Scott's beautiful home. It far surpassed our expectations in every way. We were in Brooklyn for a week to celebrate my son's wedding. There were four of us ladies and we found total ease and comfort in the beautiful living room, airy, bright kitchen and cozy, well-appointed bedrooms. Everything we needed--extra linens and towels, kitchen equipment and Fresh Flowers gracing the living spaces! Marion's niece gave us a warm welcome and made sure we understood keys and such. The information packet provided lots of detail on the home and surroundings. We whiled away the lazy afternoons with wine in the back garden. Every morning we switched on Pandora's French Cafe Radio station on the kitchen Bluetooth speaker--heaven! Being so close to Court and Smith streets mean that we had every option for shopping and dining. Marion was very congenial and responsive in all of our communications, making the entire process a pleasure. This is a supremely comfortable, sophisticated setting for anyone wanting to be "at home" on a beautiful residential street in Brooklyn. We are so grateful to have found it. Thank you!
Stop looking! You found the place to stay! The owners are helpful and accommodating. The house is breathtaking. The location is fantastic. Brooklyn is hip, Carroll Gardens has amazing restaurants and shops. This brownstone is close to the subway and NYC attractions. We stayed with another family and had plenty of room for everyone. The house is immaculate. Nearby is a CVS, Trader Joes and more Italian bakeries, groceries and restaurants than you can count on your fingers and toes. This is convenient and much more affordable than Manhattan. After a long day of being a tourist it was a godsend to return to this gem of a home in Carrol Gardens. My daughter fell ill while vacationing and Marion ( who was on her own get-away) took the time to help me navigate Urgent Care. ( only a block a way and fantastic doctors). Bonus is the lovely back yard and BBQ .So much fun watching New Yorkers head to work in the morning and walking everywhere within minutes. Great Bagels nearby for AM stroll to return home and breakfast with the family. THIS HOUSE IS A FOUR STAR....great bathrooms, fantastic kitchen, upstairs/downstairs ( kids can escape) and conveniently located as a gateway to NYC or Brooklyn Bridge. We will stay here again and again! BONUS- it was easy to get from La Guardia to this house via car service ( not expensive) and to Grand Central by Taxi.
We visited Brooklyn to cheer on a family member in the NY Marathon. This home could not have been more perfect for our family. We have two small children and Marion ensured that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay: books, toys, highchairs, crib, etc. The house was spotless, beds and linens were cozy, kitchen had everything we needed to cook and the backyard was the perfect place to relax and let the kids play.
We stayed local to Brooklyn for most of the trip, but getting to Manhattan was super easy with the train just a few blocks away. We would definitely stay here again on any future visits to the city.
Carroll Gardens is a charming, trendy Brooklyn neighborhood filled with boutiques, excellent restaurants, local Italian bakeries and delis. Family friendly area with playgrounds, outdoor cafes and quiet treelined streets. Only fifteen minutes away from Manhattan by taxi or subway.
