About Bob and Cathy Cavanagh

We have had several experiences with rental properties when we lived on Long Island. We moved to Vermont permanently in September 2012, but had been coming here for quite a few years. We love the area & all of the seasons.

Bob and Cathy Cavanagh purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Bob and Cathy Cavanagh chose Stratton and Bromley Ski Areas

We purchased this property because, the first time we drove down this road, the yard was beautiful & we thought, if this property ever goes on the market, we would love to buy it. A few years later, it went on the market & we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase it. We have been traveling to Vermont for over 20 years. We have always loved the unique beauty of all of the seasons.

When we first bought the house, we were only able to come up for vacations and long weekends, as we were working on Long Island & had family obligations there. We have since, retired and have been able to make it our home.

The Roaring Branch is beautiful in every season. Listening to the water run is most soothing.

After we moved here, we decided to continue a project started by the previous owner. We completely renovated the cottage. It is homey & still has the charm it was meant to have.

Excellent getaway

Perfect spot for our weekend get away for the two of us. The location is great for short drives to trailheads in the forest and the cottage itself was perfect. Couldn't have asked for better!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Cathy and Bob's cottage for a weekend getaway, and it was the perfect place to stay. A short drive to Manchester, yet surrounded by nature and sounds of the river across the street. Cathy and Bob were very responsive, and helpful! The cottage was exactly what we were looking for, including a great place to relax and enjoy some college football on a comfy couch. I would definitely recommend to others!

Perfect Home Away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

Cozy & relaxing. Bob & Cathy are so friendly and welcoming. Very clean and well maintained cottage. Bob & Cathy were very thoughtful with the toiletries, coffee/tea, kitchenware and cooking spices, local menus & guides, etc. We greatly enjoyed our stay and have this property saved for our next visit to VT.

Wonderfully cozy cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, along with our 2-year-old son, stayed at the Cavanaugh's cottage for a long weekend in August 2015. The cottage was beautifully maintained and spotless. Bob and Cathy were extremely welcoming, met us at the door upon our arrival and gave us a quick tour of the property. They were easily accessible had we needed anything during our stay. The cottage was chock-full of items you might need, just in case there was anything you'd forgotten (toiletries, snacks, kcups for the keurig, etc...) The kitchen was fully stocked with a variety of pots, pans and baking dishes, along with spices, if you wanted to cook during your stay. In case you weren't familiar with the area, the cabin had numerous guide booklets, menus and suggestions for things to do. Perfect spot for a quiet weekend away in a beautiful setting. We would highly recommend staying here and are looking forward to staying there again next year!
