Description

Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday cottage in Point Lookout - Bruadair: Beach+Nature+Luxury

4 bedroom/3 bath main house; optional 1 bedroom/bath guest house 766952

Bruadair's (Scottish Gaelic for 'dream') open floor plan allows everyone to gather in a common space with water views abounding or retreat to your own nook while its exquisite new (optional) guest house (listing 766952) gives others privacy.

Three bedrooms and 2 baths are located on the main, living level while the spacious master bedroom is upstairs with its own large bath, shower and whirlpool tub. The optional guest house adds another bedroom and bath (separate rental 766952), which could bring the total to 5 bedrooms and 4 baths.

Bruadair has a beautiful deck overlooking the water, plus a large screened-in porch provides great breezes and water views, too. Glass doors highlight the views whether you are cooking, playing games, reading or watching television. Step out the glass sliders, three steps down the deck and the private beach awaits you.

With 2 kayaks and 4 bicycles included in the rental, touring the Bay, the estuaries or the Park is a breeze. Ospreys, herons, bald eagles, pelicans and other natural beauties are outside the door or tucked away in nearby estuaries where kayaking in a peaceful setting is magnificent.

Scotland Yards makes your stay easy. We provide guests with towels, linens, kitchen supplies, paper towels, soaps, shampoo and everything you need to truly get away. Just bring yourselves and your food and your personal effects.

Our guests frequently comment that the rarely want to leave once they arrive. For those who so choose to venture out, a lovely local winery, historic St Mary's City, various historical plantations and other destinations such as Solomon's Island, Leonardtown and St. George's Island provide entertainment.

Young children love the Calvert Marine Museum, about 30 miles away on Solomon's Island.

With a private beach in front while nestled in a wooded, small beach community, guests have the best of woods and water. This is not a boardwalk! But, If you want luxury accommodations, waves lulling you to sleep, kayaking and otherwise enjoying a secluded beach setting, Bruadair and its guest house beckon you.

A great vacation destination!

  • 5 of 5

"Bruadair" provided everything we could have wanted in our vacation home. The amenities provided - from paper products and cleaning supplies to toiletries, towels and bed linens - were a real bonus. We enjoyed the house, the deck, the beach and the dock, but the screened-in porch was especially welcome. Everyone in our party agreed that Peggy should include a photo of the porch on the website!

We did wish there had been screens in all the windows and the sliding door in the master suite and maybe ceiling fans; we enjoy the sounds of the beach, but it was very hot and we had to turn on the air conditioner. The overview of the property is confusing in terms of the number of bedrooms and baths, since it includes information pertaining to the guest house, which is a separate rental. This is made clear when you read the details, but it was confusing initially.

The reservation process was smooth and Peggy replied quickly to my emails and provided thorough answers to my questions. The property managers were equally responsive. From beginning to end, it was a delightful experience! We are looking forward to returning to Scotland, MD and Bruadair!

Fantastic time!

  • 5 of 5

One of the best vacations I had in a very long time. The weather turned out to be perfect and we had a great time. The accommodations where perfect and we enjoyed staying there and will again next year. My only complaint was that the BBQ was a small Weber charcoal unit and with the amount of the people we had with us (6 + 1 child) we needed a larger unit then that.

Beautiful Views

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my stay at the Bruadair Beach House for my vacation with my family at the Chesapeake Bay. The house was beautiful, well-designed, spacious and modern. I stayed in the room facing the beach which had panoramic window views of the bay. I could see the beautiful sunrise over the water in the morning. I enjoyed lounging on the beach, swimming in the Chesapeake Bay, and kayaking in one of the boats provided. We caught crabs with nets in an estuary and steamed them for a delicious seafood dinner. We launched our boat at the Point Lookout State Park and navigated the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. Although the air conditioner was not working properly, the property managers worked to install a portable window unit that cooled the house during our stay. My room also had a ceiling fan that circulated the air. The DVD player was missing, but we played the DVDs we brought on my laptop hooked up to a HDMI cable to the large-screen TV.

Idyllic setting

  • 4 of 5

My family and I all enjoyed staying at Bruadair. This was our second time staying at one of Peggy's properties. She and her property managers, Rob and Bob are always a pleasure to deal with. We loved how the house was right on the beach, complete with a deck, beach chairs, and toys. The house also had ample linens and toiletries which was a big plus.

Our only complaints were that the house got very warm during the day (as high as 81 degrees) despite us setting the A/C to under 70 degrees. We were told that the A/C unit had a sort of peak energy saver built into it so the temperature was regulated during the day. The house did not cool down until around 11 pm or midnight so that was inconvenient. Also, as others have reviewed, the bedroom doors have grates so light and noise travel through quite easily.

Owner's Response: We love having repeat guests at our Scotland Yards properties. Our team makes every effort to give our beach house residents a wonderful stay. And, we like to rapidly address problems when we they arise. As the the air conditioning, we have had the utility remove the regulator, we've also replaced an air conditioning part that we found was not working optimally. Finally, it's been a hot summer! We're working on getting an additional HVAC unit to ensure that the master bedroom stays cool going forward.
