Quiet end of Siesta Key, approximately four miles to Siesta Key Beach and five miles to the restaurants and shops of Siesta Key Village.
We recently spent 8 nights at this condo and found it one of the best VRBO rentals we have had anywhere (Paris, Amsterdam, the Keys, Berlin, Venice, etc.) We would actually give it a 4.7 out of a 5 rating based on our comments below. However, there are MANY positives about it. The condo is generous, quiet overall, VERY clean, and easy to find. The kitchen is great and quite completely furnished with large refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, tea kettle, four burner electric range with two ovens, lots of dishes and utensils, and plenty of counter space for preparing and serving. There were some condiments left in one cabinet along with some tea bags and cooking oil. The living area and bedroom are also large; there is a small lanai facing the lawn. Off the bedroom is a large walk in closet with a laundry basket, lots of hangers, iron and ironing board, and blow dryer. The bathroom is small but functional. The shower is designed to conserve water so the pressure and volume are lower than we are used to. Access to the beach is just across the street; there is also a closet near the pool which has bicycles and beach things, which we did not use. The washer and dryer are in a common closet right across the entry hallway. ($1 for wash and $0.50 for dry.) We liked taking walks to the "village" about 2 miles north or to the end of the road about a mile south toward Turtle Beach. In the village, there are several restaurant/bars and an excellent place for fresh, if expensive, fish. A Publix about 4 miles away off the Tamiami Trail (route 41 at the Sarasota Pavilion). While we never met the owner due to our schedules, he let us know how to get the keys and how to reach him if necessary.
A few small items to be aware of: Because this condo is on the ground floor facing the back lawn and some trees, it tends to be a bit dark and could use more lighting in the living and bedroom areas. (The kitchen was well lit.) The condo needs a clock somewhere. (We found an empty box which had once had a clock, but other than the coffee maker and microwave, there is no clock.) The kitchen could use more than one dishtowel and a replacement can opener. Some placemats and napkins for dining would be a nice touch. For light sleepers, be aware that the sprinkler system goes on at 2:00 am for about 1/2 hour. Some nights I slept through the sound, but at first, I thought it was raining. We would definitely recommend this condo.
At first we were a little disappointed in the location and the outside appearance of the unit, but the inside was very well done with a updated kitchen and plenty of light. As far as the location it was a 4 or 5 mile drive to the village and to Siesta beach but a short walk across the street was Turtle beach which was good for shelling and just enjoying a quiet afternoon.
Since Sarasota county permits drinking on the beach you can pack a cooler. The chairs in the cabana are convenient.
If you want to explore the area Venice is an easy drive and Sarasota with its museums is just across the bridge. We did both.
If you want proximity to the action look closer to the village but if relaxation is your goal this might be the place
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. If you are looking to leave the hustle & bustle of life behind and enjoy a tranquil & nearly-deserted beach then this is the place for you. The updated kitchen is the pièce de résistance of the condo.
This condo is the place to stay in sunny Siesta Key. It's location is ideal and the condo is warm, inviting and a quiet place to relax. We love that we have easy access to all the things that make a stay at the beach a true vacation...easy access to the beach, the pool, and the pier. Plus close proximity to reastaurants, shopping and the Village but far enough away that the evenings are quiet and relaxing. We love it at this condo.
We found the condo to be in the same good condition as when we stayed there January of 2015. The condo is accurately described on VRBO. The property was clean and inviting. Phil is quick to respond to any questions we had. He had just installed a new air conditioning system, which indicates the owners are willing to invest money to make the condo appealing and comfortable. Because we stayed for a month both years, it was important to us to get to know the neighbors. Although there is not a club house, there is a "social director" who is super about inviting us to join in various activities. We look forward to returning next year and renewing friendships.
We stayed here last April (see our review) and loved it. This year however, was even better with the very tasteful renovation of the kitchen area. Very comfortable and functional condo. And the owners are very personable and helpful. Great couples getaway!
