About Rahel Cook

THE OWNERS: In the mid 60’s the Seattle skyline had the Space Needle to the North and The Smith Tower to the South. There was nothing tall in-between the two notable structures. This is when I purchased this property, thinking I would live in the small beach cottage a few years. As time elapsed Seattle was growing, memories were created that could not be made today. My children diving off the old Sea Crest Marina piers, mooring our boat steps from our front door, sailing across Elliot Bay to Seattle, are but a few. Years went by, the memories and stories flourished and I realized I loved the house and area and was destined to stay. The house was so small it needed to grow. The first growth spurt was in the mid 70’s, when the children and the house grew taller. Next came 1980, the year I met my future husband. We complemented each other’s passion for art and creating with space. The spirit of the house and its land generously continued giving us the opportunity to fulfill our visions and dreams, often in the face of local growth obstacles. Today the Marina and boats are gone, the Seattle skyline is magnificent, and the house is beyond recognition of its former self. It welcomes the multitude of changes it observes and the attention it gets.. It deserves to be shared, through it you know the owners. Our home invites you to create your own stories and memories. Enjoy!

Your experience (public)

Just spent a girls' weekend (not nearly enough time) at Alki Beach Harbor House and we're already talking about our next visit. Rahel was an absolute pleasure to deal with and responded to any queries we had almost immediately. The excellent service plus the unique layout of the home, peaceful sitting areas and abundance of art made our stay a wonderful experience. We appreciated having access to bicycles for the weekend and loved taking morning rides alongside Puget Sound. Our only hesitation in booking was location, as we weren't sure that the water taxi service into downtown Seattle would be as easy as advertised...it absolutely was! $5.25 and a 15 minute ride took us very close to Pike Place Market, Safeco Field and anywhere else we needed to be. There is also a Safeway within a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute car-to-go ride) to stock the fridge during your stay. All in all, Alki Beach Harbor House is a wonderful place to stay while in Seattle...I heartily recommend it!

This house made our trip! Perfectly located, well-appointed, and an experience unto itself. The view was stunning from dawn to dusk. We took advantage of the easy access to water taxis and kayaking. Would highly recommend this home.

A stunning house with treasures and views around every corner

  • 5 of 5

My (now) wife and I rented this house for the week surrounding our wedding as a getaway from our usual Seattle home where other family was staying. From the moment we walked into the house, we were stunned by all the artwork and the neat spaces the owners have created. But best of all is the unbeatable Seattle skyline view, which every window in the house just frames like a postcard.

Our favorite space in the house was the upstairs with the main bedroom. There are soaring ceilings with wood beams, a massive philodendron hanging from the ceiling, a large patio to step outside, a spa tub, and comfy couches to nestle in to take in the view. It was exactly the oasis we wanted to keep us calm while other wedding-related tasks were tending to make us frantic. And the Seattle-based snacks that the owners provided were super tasty.

If we are looking for another in-city getaway, we wouldn't hesitate to rent "the TiPi house" again, and would recommend it to friends/family in an instant. It was quirky, comfy, and perfect.

Accept this gift!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Drink cheap wine for a month if that is what it takes to be able to vacation at the Alki Beach house!! We thought a short stay in Seattle would be a nice way to end our cruise to Alaska and we reserved the Alki Beach house for the views, the running trail, the accessibility to downtown and OF COURSE the TiPi!!! After we arrived at the house and discovered it is it's own destination, we completely forgot about our cruise and just immersed ourselves in the aura that surrounds the house and grounds. The harbor house is not just a place to throw your luggage and lay your head at night. It immediately draws you in and makes you a part of it. And even though the master bedroom was a dream, we did not take advantage of it because we simply couldn't resist sleeping in the tipi every night!!!! We were transported to another world!! We left the Alki Beach House feeling as if we had been given a gift and we cannot begin to thank you enough for sharing your souls with us!!

Bucket list place!

  • 5 of 5

You do more than stay at the Harbor house, you really have to experience it. Everyone with a desire for the eclectic should have this place on their bucket list. It was very welcoming and comfortable and truly one of the most spectacular city views on earth. The location is truly exceptional, the entire property is very unique and fun. The owner or manager was top shelf, many much appreciated touches. If your even thinking you should stay here, you should just do it and consider yourself very lucky. So many things to do both close and far. Do not miss Salty's weekend brunch, amazing, and only 200 yards away. The only thing I'll add is that Harbor drive is a very popular road especially on the weekends for obvious weekends, expect a little traffic noise during the night. Ear plugs were handy and a very small price to pay for the privilege of staying at Harbor house. Much thanks!
