It was built in 2008. Looks like one huge house, but it’s actually a main house (occupied by the owners) and a Guest House. The Guest House is connected to the main house but totally private with its own entrance. The Guest House is the log home vacation rental and is quite unique. Comes included with Don and Bj Garner & three furry kids.
ABOUT THE LOG HOME VACATION RENTAL (Guest House)
The ramp leads you to the Guest House rental door, where above it is a green sign: A HAPPY PLACE. Indeed it is. There are several placards on the porch… each is an ode to a loved one(s).
There’s a private screened-in porch for you with a table and chairs and a wooden porch swing. The huge open deck has a nice patio set that seats six. The door has a keypad lock; changed with each new renter. You are notified via email with the code and other details.
It’s an open kitchen/living room floor plan. It is completely furnished. All wood interior. There’s a beautiful stone fireplace that works at the push of a button and a 40 inch Flat Screen TV.
Feng shui alone makes you relaxed.
The bedroom has a queen size bed, one dresser, a 32 inch TV and a large closet. In the unique loft is a king size bed and two singles. All the beds are comfortable and everybody gets two pillows and an extra blanket.
The kitchen has modern appliances and a big island counter that seats two; a café table that seats two and a bar that seats three. Dishes, cookware, eating & cooking utensils are provided.
The bathroom boasts a 6’-long whirl-pool tub (hold on when jets are used!) Towels, toilet paper, soap & shampoo are provided; if you need more, look in the closet. There is a safety bar at the tub & toilet for those who need them.
You have your own laundry room. Detergent is provided. There’s a large rack to hang your clothes on.
If you like to cook out, there is a gas grill on the deck and also a charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal).

Luray is the near the entrance to Skyline Drive.
The town’s close proximity to the Shenandoah River provides recreational opportunities connected with boating, white water rafting, and fishing as well as hunting in the fall. Of course, the Caverns are the main attraction. Exploring it is an awe-inspiring-there-is-a-God experience.
Luray has a small-town-USA feel to it; the shops and restaurants along Main St. are cozy and quaint, the people friendly.
Favorite places for kids, besides the caverns: the zoo, Lake Arrowhead, Imagination Station (part of RH Dean park in town), Yogi Bear Park. a bowling alley and feeding the ducks at Hawksbill Creek – a very popular walking/jogging trail that intersects with Main Street. There are flyers on the kitchen counter for you.
There are several shops on Main Street – all worth checking-out – because the merchandise is a heck of a lot more interesting than Walmart’s… And several places to eat from the upscale Mimslym Inn to good ole Hardees. It’s great to eat in town and walk straight to the Hawksbill Greenway.

Friendly retired couple. We love to meet new people and hospitality is our business.
Donald Garner purchased this cabin in 2008
Great location near Luray and the Shenandoah River. Beautiful house with all the latest modern conveniences.
parking for your boat or RV or trailer hauling your toys.
Gas grill ready to prepare that steak or burgers.
This cabin was perfect and exactly what we were hoping for. The owners were very welcoming and helpful! Towards the end of our stay, the smell of smoke from the person staying in the unit below inside of our cabin, but otherwise the stay was perfect.
We loved our experience at the cabin!
BJ and Don were the most hospitable hosts! We arrived early Friday evening to fresh baked cookies and an airy BEAUTIFUL AND CLEAN cutest ever seen log cabin. The curtains slightly blowing with a slight cool breeze coming through....we felt at home right away. BJ and Don are the owners of this property (this is their Guesthouse with its OWN PRIVATE ENTRANCE). They met us when we arrived and showed us around the cabin VERY quickly and all the fully stocked amenities...from coffee, creamer, juices, tea, laundry area, cleaning supplies if we needed them...toiletries..qtips...LOL...they had literally thought of EVERYTHING!!!
The master bedroom bed was a bit squeaky...so we opted to sleep in the loft which held a super comfy King bed. (It was a pretty cool experience sleeping in the loft anyways ;)
We grilled out on Friday evening and had dinner both evenings in the screened in porch with the babbling brook in the background. SO peaceful and romantic!!
We stayed over the weekend and we never wanted to leave!
We CANT WAIT to go back! Thank you for helping us celebrate our 4 yr Anniversary...UNFORGETTABLE!
My husband and I stayed with our 14 & 16 year old daughters. We arrived and found homemade oatmeal & raisin cookies and some fresh fruit on the counter, as well as juice bags, juices, and creamer in the refrigerator waiting for us. The cabin was very clean. Don and BJ briefly stopped in to be sure that we had everything we needed. They showed us how to use the gas logs remote control since the temperatures were chilly. We enjoyed having dinner out on the back screened porch looking at the mountains and wooded area on the two evenings that were warmer. The cabin is located @ 10 minutes to a Walmart to pick up some food items and the Town was only a few more minutes away. My husband loved fishing on the beautiful, secluded pond in the Washington National park property about 11 miles down the road from the cabin. Unfortunately the pond is not marked so you need to drive to the canoe outfitters down the road to get directions to the unmarked dirt road to the pond. The tour of Luray Caverns was amazing to see the rock formations. Overall we would recommend Garnerland for its charm and the hospitality of the owners.
We really enjoyed ourselves. Don and BJ were so welcoming. We had to peel our youngest daughter away from BJ - she asked if she could stay at Garnerland! Thank you very much! We look forward to coming back for another visit.
Wonderful and welcoming owners. We were shown around the place and then left alone. The property is clean and warm. The furnishings were comfortable. Highly recommend this for your next getaway. Plus they welcome you with a plate of delicious home made cookies! Lighting fast refund of the security deposit as well. We hope to stay again.
Luray Caverns is 10 minutes away. Local restaurants and main street shopping in Town. Hawksbill Greenway hiking/biking trail winds through town along the Hawksbill creek.
