Our three bedrooms are furnished with classic furniture and artwork, and each has an ensuite bath and a private exterior door. The Green Room is a cool and inviting haven whose colors will remind you of lush palms and cacti against the mountain expanses. The Orange Room glows with the colors of desert flowers and the sunset. The Blue Room mirrors the azure hue of the brilliant desert sky. The living spaces are similarly furnished, with brand new furniture and accessories. The kitchen has been outfitted with all you will need to create memorable meals, including basic ingredients and a full range of cookware. Free wi-fi, flat screen TVs and cable are available, with a house printer. Just bring your own laptop or iPad and you'll have a full home office. Lounging, sunbathing and dining areas, and barbecue grill, enhance the back yard near the pool. Lounging area in the front courtyard provides a view of majestic Mt. San Jacinto.
I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, and married my college sweetheart, who is a doctor. We raised three girls, homeschooled them, coached youth soccer, and now spend our time studying languages, cooking meals for friends, trying to stay fit, and volunteering for medical missionary trips whenever possible. We have used VRBO properties many times, ourselves, and we find it a much better way to travel than to stay in hotels. We hope you will enjoy staying in our beautiful new Palm Springs casa.
Susan St. Louis purchased this house in 2013
Casa de Colores (House of Colors) has been lovingly decorated with all new furniture, beautiful art and accessories in the colors of the desert to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and unforgettable. Each bedroom has its own outside door, with high quality wooden shutters that completely darken the rooms when fully closed. All linens and towels are new, and will be regularly replaced as needed, to ensure comfort and satisfaction. The living room opens onto the front courtyard, with its mountain views, and allows you to 'bring the outdoors in with you.' The game table in the living room nook will lure you to find out who has the best poker face. Full sets of dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils and basic supplies will provide you with all the things you'll need to cook as much or as little as you desire. The pool and spa will draw you to spend time in the back yard, but you will also have three separate lounging and eating areas there in which to spend your time. Whether you are one couple, a large family or 2 or 3 couples vacationing together, you will never lack for comfortable, private places to sit and talk. We want this house to be the best place you've ever vacationed in, and we will continue to try to make it worthy of that label.
When we saw this house we fell in love with the quality of the construction, and the wonderful architectural elements like the round windows in the front entryway and master bath, the foyer tower, the arched entryway and front door, the colored tile floors throughout, and the exquisite wooden beams and cathedral ceiling in the living room. We also really liked that each bedroom has its own bath and exterior door. And many of the attractions of downtown Palm Springs are within a short walk!

We had a wonderful 9-day stay in your house that now - unfortunately - has come to an end. We really enjoyed your lovely house which our son Sebastian found planning our travels to California. Coming from a trip from San Francisco and north in Merced (Yosemite NP), Fresno (Sequoia NP) and Las Vegas, we had a very restful stay in your house! My personal highlight was the pool, giving me the chance to swim whenever and however long I wanted to. (All of us enjoyed it!)
My husband liked the hummingbirds coming to the orange flowers near our sleeping-room-door. My oldest son (25) enjoyed the space everyone had for their own - and "Free Willy" in the pool. My younger son (23) liked the great supply with everything we needed for cooking, swimming, etc. His friend (also 23) enjoyed the sofas inside and outside the house for listening to audiobooks and music.
We all had a wonderful, restful time in your house - which really is a house!
Thanks for your hospitality and we wish you all the best! Thanks also to Julie who prepared everything so well.
Our family enjoyed a great vacation at Casa de Colores. The initial booking was very easy and Susan was very helpful answering our questions, etc. Once we arrived, the property was clean, and spacious, just like in the pictures, our kids enjoyed the heated pool and overall, we had a great experience. Thanks, Susan. P.S. We would highly recommend Casa de Colores.
This house is everything that is advertised and everything everyone has said about it! It was perfect! It offers everything that you might need for a short term stay. It was very clean and everything was in good working order. The location is perfect and the neighborhood is quiet, safe and easily walkable. Susan was a pleasure to work with and was always quick to reply to questions. Hope to stay again in the future!
My husband and I, daughter, son-in-law and two little ones stayed in Casa de Colores for one week December 4-11, 2016. It was perfect for us. There are three bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to cook your meals. There is a nice front yard where the kids could run around and play and the back yard has a very nice pool and spa, which we used everyday as the weather was perfect and warm. We could walk to downtown shopping and restaurants and take short drives to wonderful hiking. The owner was very pleasant and saw to every detail. We would recommend this home highly.
Everything about this experience was positive. Susan was wonderfully easy to work with from our first contact through the entire stay. Communication was always clear and she was available for questions throughout the process. She provided things that made life so much easier and it was nice to arrive to a bottle of wine after a long journey. The place was exactly as described. It was beautiful and felt like an upscale home rather than just a place to sleep. The arrangement of rooms was great for friends because we had privacy and each of us had our own bathrooms. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. I would highly recommend renting this place and any place that Susan has available! I will definitely return to this place and Susan on my next trip to Palm Springs.
3 bedroom and 3 bathrooms made it perfect for our family of 5. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and loved the fact that there are non perishable provisions already there! The pool was delightful and well worth the heating fee of $200 - I definitaley recommend it. A surprise bonus was having access to the secure garage. House is close to everything and walkable. This is our home away from home for Palm Springs!
Casa de Colores provides every convenience necessary for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. From the well-appointed, clean home, pleasant outdoor spaces, inviting pool and spa, and proximity to downtown Palm Springs, this home is a desert oasis. The only regret is that our stay ended too quickly. On our recommendation other family members have already booked time at this lovely home. The quiet neighborhood and the bakery around the corner only heightened our enjoyment of our stay. We would have been happy to make Casa de Colores our permanent home, and are looking forward to future vacations there. Thank you, Susan, for all you do to make your home so welcoming.
Most people come to Palm Springs for the unique combination of outdoors living, recreational activities, and cultural richness to be found here. From the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, which draws top music and comedy performers due to our proximity to Los Angeles, to the lively arts community, to the hundreds of golf courses, tennis courts, and country clubs to be found in the Coachella Valley, we are certain that Palm Springs has something for everyone. And the many events that occur each year in our valley draw interest from around the nation and even the world - the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, the BNP Paribas Tennis tournament, the Humana Challenge and Kraft Nabisco golf tournaments, the White Party, the Palm Springs Film Festival, the Tour de Palm Springs bicycle event, and many more. But in addition to all of that, if you want to vacation in a place where you can simply rest, sunbathe, lounge by the pool and rejuvenate yourself, our house will provide the indoor/outdoor Palm Springs living style that you are craving.
The areas of southern California within and surrounding the Coachella Valley abound in great outdoors adventures. The base station for the famous Palm Springs Aerial Tram is about a 15 minute drive from our house. The largest rotating tramcars in the world take you from the valley to the San Jacinto Mountain Station, at 8,516 feet of altitude. Also nearby (about one hour by car) is Joshua Tree National Park, perhaps the premier rock climbing mecca of America. Joshua Tree, named for the amazing and weird versions of the yucca plant that grow only in that area, is also full of wonderful hikes and stunning driving tours. Big Bear Lake, with all the summer boating, fishing and swimming activities, and both alpine and downhill skiing in the winter, is only 2 hours away by car. The attractions of Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego are all within a few hours away by car.
